    During fluid flow through the system piping installation happened many so-called pressure loss as the major pressure loss and minor pressure loss (loss due to fluid passing through a branching). Distribution of the fluid flow in branching is an irreversible process. This irreversibelitas in the application techniques will reduce the performance of a system. Attemps to find out how big the losses incurred by branching pipe is to measure the coefficient of losses incurred. The form of experiments performed was to make three pieces of pipe brnching angles galvanic type medium with 450, 600 and 900. Re variation of 0 to 5,5 x 104. The results showed that the coefficient Of loss for k3-2 branch (45)= k3-2 (60)= K3-2 (90)= (0,07 to 0,39) and k3-1 branch (45)= (0,95- 0,60), K3-1 (60)= (1,08 to 0,85), K3-1 (90)= (1,10- 1,50), for a total coefficint Ktot (45)= (1,02 to 0,97), Ktot (60)= (1,15 to 1,23), Ktot (90)= (1,17 to 1,89)

    Fuel Oil Heater in Steam Power Plant (PLTU) at Tello Makassar, a heat exchanger type of heater that serves to heat the oil residue by using steam heat generated in the boiler. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of water vapor to reduce the viscosity of oil residue that can be used as fuel by using fuel oil heater. Measurements were performed immediately when the temperature and pressure of water vapor and residual oil at the input and output unchanged (constant) for 1 hour. The results showed that the effectiveness is influenced by the amount of heat absorbed by the residual oil by 1726.083 W and the amount of heat released by the steam that is 1764.988 W with a value of 68.7% effectiveness

    This study aims to determine the amount of investment of a particular industry on a ship propeller foundry industry CV. Antero Jaya Sakti and production costs and selling prices for each product made ​​propeller. The research was conducted by collecting data on production and equipment of CV. Antero Jaya Sakti, as well as making observations on the propeller shops of Makassar, needs to know the number and type of propeller is required. In addition, calculation and data analysis to determine the total investment and total production costs and payback period is desired. The results showed that the investment needed to run the ship propeller foundry industry in CV. Antero Jaya Sakti is 28,139.69 withapaybackperiodof3.2 years,costofproductionrequiredis 28,139.69  with a payback period of 3.2  years, cost of production required is 7.2 and selling price for a propeller that is produced is $ 9.77. The results could give the assumption that the investment in the propeller foundry industry can be considered feasible

    One of the causes damage to the pipeline is vibration caused by fluctuation in the flow. Two-phase flow of liquid - gas at high pressure will provide a fluctuating impact load. Fluctuations in stream flow patterns are shown by the form. It is necessary to note the fluctuation force on a straight pipe wall in accordance with the flow pattern is formed. This study uses two-phase flow by varying the flow of air and water. Variations of water flow are 5,10,15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 lpm. While the variations of air flow used are 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 lpm. The sensor used a strain gauge type GFCA 3-50 to read the strain in the pipe. The results indicate that the greatest force at the time of the bubble flow pattern  is 0.143 N and its value is relatively stable. While the slug flow pattern shows the force generated more fluctuations than the other flow patterns

    The purpose of this research is to analyze the crank shaft mechanism theoretically with trigonometry and complex number methods. Equation of velocity and acceleration of these methods are taken the same and the difference of influnced variables. The same variables are angle position, angle velocity, and beam length 2 and linking beam length 3. The differences is for complex number analysis influenced by angle position, angle velocity and beam angle acceleration 3. Based on used variable for these methods, trigonometry analysis can be applied if crank shaft angle velocity is a constant. Calculation of velocity and acceleration are based on  beam angle 2 change  from 0o - 360o with angle range 15o counter clock watch (CCW), crank angle velocity 188.4 rad/s, length of beam 2 (0.05 m, 0.075 m. 0.10 m) and length of beam 3 (0.3 m). The result of trigonometry and complex number calculation for variation of  beam lenght 2 is taken the difference of velocity and acceleration on piston. The difference percentages of velocity are 8.25%, 12.76%, and 17.78 % respectively and of acceleration are 0.50%, 2.34%, and 19.91 % respectively

    The aim of this research is to find out the utility profile of laboratory as the facility of student’s practical work in Automotive department, Engineering Faculty, Makassar State University. This research is a descriptive research. The population is the students of Automotive department in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 Makassar State University. Sampling is taken randomly in amount of 70 people. The research variable data is collected by using questioner. The collected data is processed by using descriptive analysis with percentage. The output showed that the variable utility profile of laboratory with 3 sub variable, such as: 1). Utility pattern of devices and materials is in effective category of 67,4%, 2). Room layout pattern is in effective category of 61,4%, 3). Tutorial pattern of practical work lecturer is in effective category of 66,4%. After doing data analysis generally from the three aspects is obtained 66,01% or approriate with effective category

    This study aims to knowing the influence of surface treatment of fibers t wettability and adhesion ability melinjo bast fiber with epoxy-resin matrix. Wettability  had affected on mechanical properties of fiber reinforced composite. The research process was begun with providing treatment to the melinjo fiber surface, which is boiled with pure water and NaOH 5%  each for 60, 120 and 180 minutes. Contact angle specimen test conducted by dripping droplets of matrix on a single fiber, then the contact angle that occurs is measured using Image Pro Analyzer software (IPWin) through photographs taken by using optical microscope. The results showed that the largest  average of contact angle is  untreated fiber (42.37°) and the lowest is  media treatment of NaOH 5% (33.14°)

    Coir fibres are obtained from coconut husk.  In application of composite materials, coir fibres  are  influenced  by  mechanial  properties.    This  study  aims  to  characterize  the mechanical properties of coir fibres. To characterize mechanial properties of coir fibres, variation of gauge length of fibres was conducted. The result showed that variability of cross  setional  areas  influenced  mechanical  properies  and  that  the  Young’s  modulus, breaking stress and breaking strain can be determined.

    ANALISIS PENGGUNAAN GASOHOL DARI LIMBAH KULIT PISANG TERHADAP PRESTASI MESIN MOTOR BAKAR BENSIN

    Usage of type alcohol of etanol in gasoline fuel proves a number of machine achievements in terms of parameters, namely actual horsepower, specific fuel consumption, mean effective pressure and thermal efficiency compared to use pure premium fuel. Level of such repair gyrate 73% from maximum energy according to machine specification. In yielding etanol, fermentation process with yeast mixture then destiltaion. Etanol mixed with premium with certain ratio. In this research, variation of mixing of alcohol premium, namely: 95%+5%; 90%+10% and 85%+15% by 3 variation  throttle opening: 20%, 40% and 60%. The result indicates that with usage of concentration mixing of premium + etanol, reached actual horsepower by Kijang machine 7k experiencing with maximum value equal to 17,347 kW that happened at condition of opening of throttle 60% at rotation 2100 rpm with usage of mixing 95% premium + 5% etanol. With usage of concentration mixing of premium + etanol, specific fuel consumption also experience with maximum value equal to 0,331 kg/ kWh that happened at condition of throttle opening by 20% within rotation of 2100 rpm with usage of mixing 90% premium + 10% etanol
