THE FULFILMENT OF MASLOW’S HIERARCHY OF NEEDS ON MAIN CHARACTERS IN “ENCANTO” MOVIE: A HUMANISTIC STUDY
The purpose of this study is to find out how the efforts made by the main characters in Encanto Movie (2021) meet their needs and analyse it according to Maslow's theory. This research method is defined as a qualitative method. The author limits the data by classifying into five groups of different levels of needs based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory. In this study, it can be concluded that the main character has levels of needs ranging from the most basic to the most important needs. For example, on Maribel, the author found that of Maslow's 5 levels of needs, there are 5 needs so that it can be said that all of her needs have been met and the most important are the needs for love and belonging, and self-actualization. As for Abuela, the author finds that out of these 5 levels of needs, there is only 1 level of need that must be met by her, namely the needs for self-actualization.Keyword: Hierarchy of needs, Family Relation, Humanistic psycholog
Absurdity in Madurese and English Drama: A Comparative Study
Comedies of different countries have their own absurdities. Absurdity is something that human often experience for searching the meaning of life. Therefore, a comparative study of literature is used in this study to compare absurdities in the comedy originating from Madura and England. The objective of this study is to find out how the absurdities are shown in the Madurese and English comedy. Then, the method of this study is qualitative method. The sources of the data of this study are Juragan Hadroh and Gara-Gara Tukang Cukur EDAN!! by Sukur CS that were performed in 2021 and are compared to George Bernard Shaw’s Too True To Be Good that was performed in 1949. This study uses theory of absurdity that can be called “the philosophy of the absurd” by Albert Camus. The data of this study are in the form of characters utterance, narrator narrations, and gestures. This study found that both of Madurese and English comedies are existed as the form of searching for the meaning of life. Absurdities that are shown by Madurese and English comedies start from the names of characters, utterances and acts of the characters.
STUDENT BEHAVIOR REFLECTION ON ONLINE LEARNING IN WETON PERSPECTIVE
This study aims to find and analyze the meaning of online learning according to the reflection of student behavior based on Weton. With a qualitative approach, this study collected data from 5 students. The results showed that student A (Monday Wage) interpreted the practice of online learning as an effort to beautify traditional learning, while student B (Monday Pon) interpreted it as violating obligations between teachers and students, Student C (Tuesday Pahing) interpreted it as a mere technique, Student D (Thrusday Legi) considers it a challenge, and Siswa E (Wednesday Pon) considers online learning to be a burden for teachers. The behavior of student A does not reflect his character, while the behavior of students B to E reflects his character. The condition of the family environment, the school environment at the previous level, experience, and always positive thinking are factors that influence the formation of his character
INVESTIGATION OF STUDENTS’ PRONUNCIATION OF WORD STRESS IN ENGLISH ONLINE CLASS
The placement of stress also part of learning pronunciation of foreign language. many nonnative English students cannot pronounce the English word in the right way. This study aimed in analyzing students’ pronunciation of word stress in English online class and how do students correct their word stress mistakes. This study was conducted at public Senior High School in Bekasi that involved five participants who agreed to be tested and answered questionnaires. The genders of participants are choosing randomly in eleventh grade. This study found that students still faced difficulties about the pronunciation of word stress. The misplaced stress happened to the two-syllable words, three-syllable words, and four-syllable words. The words most misplaced stress made by students are the three-syllable. The two-syllable words is also the second most misplaced stress made by students. The students’ misplaced stress are quite similar and those words are not difficult because they are quite familiar to be used in conversation. Since the teacher does not pay more attention to word stress in the class, it makes students do not understand how to pronounce clearly, especially the word stress. Students only follow how the words are produced by the teacher during the learning process. Thus, students use the media on their phones to help them correct the mispronunciation of the word stres
THE DECONSTRUCTION OF JEJER GANDRUNG STAGE IN THE VERSE OF GANDRUNG TEROB SONG BANYUWANGI
The interactive cultural discourse in the Gandrung Terob song verses can provide a new indication. The song verse applied in the Gandrung Terob are an oral presentation and surely have their own purpose and meaning in it. The verse of the song contains a presentation of the original language of the City of Banyuwangi,, namely: Osing language used by indigenous people in Kemiren village. This study examines the use of the Gandrung Terob song verses in the first stage of Jejer Gandrung. The purpose of this study is to describe how the function of the Gandrung Terob song verse in the City of Banyuwangi. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. The data in this study are in the form of song verse speech used during the Jejer Gandrung staging in the Gandrung Terob performance. The scalpel used by researchers uses analysis in terms of cultural discourse. Meanwhile, on the data of the reading the verses of the Gandrung Terob song, the researcher transcribed the verses of the song using heuristic and hermeneutic reading techniques as reference. In addition, the main data analysis technique reference, the researcher using John W. Creswell's data analysis technique. Thus, the data obtained will be more valid and clear. The source of the data in the study was obtained from the speech contained in the Jejer Gandrung stage of the Gandrung Terob song verses in the City of Banyuwangi. The results of this study found 329 data consisting of three sub-focuses contained in the formulation of the problem. Hopefully this research can be used as an additional reference in the study of cultural discourse analysis
SELOKO AS A WEDDING ADVICE OF SAROLANGUN MALAY: THE DIRECTIVE FUNCTION AND VALUE OF CHARACTER
Globalization era causes local wisdom such as seloko oral literature begins difficult to be found in certain events. Seloko is one of the oral traditions owned by Jambi Province. Seloko can be found in the event of marriage reception, custom event, officer inauguration, etc. This research aims to describe seloko utterance uttered in the Malay community's marriage event living in Sarolangun Regency. Particularly, this research aims to describe the function of seloko and educational values obtained in seloko. The research results show that there are three functions of seloko in marriage advice such as ordering, suggesting, and forbidding. Meanwhile, there are four values of character education in seloko. First, the religious value that relates to obeying the religion and custom. Second, the character value relates to oneself that covers social care, respecting other people, and loyal. Third, the self character value, which relates to society's environment that covers cooperation and democracy. Besides that, seloko can be used as a reference in running life because it contains the teaching and advice
PHARMACY STUDENTS’ LISTENING COMPREHENSION: PROBLEMS AND STRATEGIES
This study is aimed to find out students’ listening problems and listening strategies. The research type is qualitative research using questionnaires and interviews as the instruments. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze data obtained from the questionnaires, and interpretation of coding to analyze data from the interview script. INVESTIGATING ENGLISH STUDENTS IN WRITING RECOUNT TEXT USING PEER FEEDBACK THROUGH WEBLOG
This study aims to discover the response of English studentsin writing activity using peer feedback method through Google Classroomm in Singaperbangsa Karawang University. This study conducted with descriptive qualitative design to analyze students’ skill in writing activity especially writing recount text. The participants of this study are English students from four grades in Singaperbangsa Karawang University who had applied peer feedback and used Google Classroom in their writing class. In collecting the data, the researcher conducted an interview based on her interview guidelines and documentation to confirm the data. Using peer feedback through Google Classroom in writing activity has many benefits. The study found that the use of peer feedback through Google Classroom gives a positive impact for the students. It has improved their writing skills and increased their motivation to write more and better
