CANTRIK CULTURAL ADAPTATION: STUDENT’S ROLE AS TEACHER ASSISTANT IN MAXIMIZING CLASS LEARNING PROCESS
In the era of the COVID-19 pandemic, a teacher is required to be responsible for his students, in terms of student achievement, health, safety, and welfare. In the learning process in the classroom, teachers are expected to minimize discrimination in the classroom and seek intensive guidance for students with special needs. In Javanese culture, cantrik is known, namely, someone who always follows the teacher; this cantrik culture is close to the term assistance in this modern era. A teacher assistant is someone who supports teacher learning in the classroom. To realize educational services that are following the abilities of each student from each group in the classroom in this era of the COVID-19 pandemic, a teacher should maximize the level of service by taking an assistant from among the students. Student’s Response Toward Utilizing Discord Application as an Online Learning Media in Learning Speaking at Senior High School
Technology and education are different things, but in this modern era we all can see that these two things are inseparable and become necessities. This present study is aimed to know the students’ response toward utilizing Discord application as an online learning media in learning speaking at Senior High School. Therefore, This study investigates the effectiveness of the Discord application as an online learning medium, and also investigates the students' motivation to learn speaking skills while learning using the Discord application. This study uses a qualitative approach and uses an interpretative studies research design. Participants in this study involved 6 students' in 12th grade in Senior High School SMA Negeri 1 Cikarang Timur. Online observations, online interviews, and virtual documentation are used to obtain data as information or answers related to the research question. This research found that , the utilizing of the Discord application as an online learning media in speaking learning has several benefits and advantages. The discord application facilitates the convenience of students in the learning experience such as a very effective, practical, lighter application used in various smart phones because of its small size, has a Voice channel feature that allows interaction via voice in the discord room.Keywords : Discord Application, Student’s Response, Speaking
POLITENESS IN OFFICIAL LETTERS
This study aims to explain politeness and describe the potential negative faces in terms of formal invitation letter sentences. This research belongs to the realm of pragmatics and examines data qualitatively. EXPLORING GENDER-BASED EFL STUDENTS' LEARNING STRATEGIES IN ACHIEVING ENGLISH SPEAKING SKILL
This study aims to explore or find out the use of learning strategies in learning speaking based on gender differences. Narrative inquiry research design is used in this study and data collection is employed through questionnaires and interviews to the participants.The results showed that the strategy most often used between male and female students was metacognitive strategies and the overall use of learning strategies showed that there were differences in the order in which male and female used learning strategies. Male students used more metacognitive, compensatory, cognitive, social and affective strategies. Meanwhile, female students used metacognitive, compensation, memory and social strategies.Keywords: language learning strategies, speaking skills, gender
REVEALING THE INDOCTRINATION OF MADURESE MARRIAGE TRADITIONS: A HEGEMONY PERSPECTIVE
ABSTRACT: This article investigates the hegemonic messages in Madurese marriage indoctrination among young women. This study implements a qualitative approach and the data is collected by distributing a questionnaire to young Madurese women who are studying at the University of Trunojoyo Madura. The data obtained will be analyzed through the lens of hegemony theory. The finding indicates that Madurese marriage indoctrinations contain domination used to influence the ideology of Madurese women to reinforce the status quo of women’s restriction
REPRESENTATION OF SYMBOLS IN “PARASITE” MOVIE
Symbols as one of the primary media in the communication process which are directly capable of translating the thoughts and feelings of the communicator to the readers or audiences. In the Parasite movie, many symbols are hidden. This study investigates the representation of symbols in the Parasite movie. The method of this study was qualitative with a semiotic approach. The result analysis shows that several symbols found in the movie: Morse code, rain, underground (semi-basement), stone, smell, bunker (basement), and food can be seen in the “Parasite movie”. A Morse code symbol is a message. The code HELP being misinterpreted as HOLP cause the message not to be transmitted well. Rain as a symbol represents both the wealthy and the poor. Rain is a blessing to the wealthy but it is a curse to the poor, as it brings disasters (flooding). Underground is related to Kim's family home, who live in a cramped semi-basement space in a crowded complex. The stone's symbolism is linked to good fortune and prosperity. The viewing block (scholar stone) is spiritually idiosyncratic of good fortune and stable life. It symbolizes a sense of social status by smiles or implies a distinction between Kim's and Park's families about rich and poor people. Bunker (basement) is related to the hidden secret which is connected to the Park family's estate, only the former homeowner and housemaid know it. The final symbol is Ramdon, a food. It's a mixture of ramen and udon. This food has a symbiotic relationship due to the mixture of noodles and meat. As an act of showcasing the Park family's love of a "high-class" dish, an expensive steak was added on the cheap of an instant noodle
Existence Of Cultural Glocalization Supporting Elements In the Culture of Indonesian Culture
AbstractIn the development of culture always requires an object to show progress. Various aspects include one of the elements of cultural glocalization. Technology has facilitated people in various parts of the world to exchange information about their respective cultures at every second of human life. Modern, such as music, clothing, singing, educational patterns and patterns of social life. However, it turns out that not all parties can share information equally. Developed countries are more dominant in conveying information about their culture and interests to developing countries. In this study, it shows the percentage of elements supporting cultural glocalization, namely aspects of traditional games and aspects of traditional sports. TEACHING LEARNING INNOVATION FOR KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS; LEARNING ENGLISH THROUGH VIDEO
In this pandemic era, where almost all of the countries in this world are contaminated, learning teaching agenda should be done by online in any level including kindergarten level. The process of introducing English to children by using the media is expected can foster interest in learning so that the vocabulary they learn will continue to stick in the memory and can be applied in their daily life. One of the most effective ways is to introduce English as early as possible through instructional videos. In this case the researcher observed whether the use of video learning media could increase the motivation to learn English in children using the observation method. From the expression that showed by the students, the students feel happier, feel more confident, and also they get the new experience with their activity. From those two answers the researcher got from the teacher, it can be seen that using video for teaching learning process is such a helpful way for both children and teacher
ENGAGING EXTENSIVE READING PRACTICE MEDIATED BY LET’S READ ASIA IN ONLINE CLASSROOM
This research aims to find out the process of students’ engagement during extensive reading practice mediated by Let’s Read Asia and students’ responses during extensive reading practice mediated by Let’s Read Asia at the eleventh grade in one of the Senior High School at Karawang. This research used the qualitative approach and a basic interpretive research as the research design. The data were collected by observation checklist based on guidelines from the Extensive Reading Foundation, online interview by using Whatsapp application, online documentation, and written artifact of students. This research included 4 participants of eleventh grade of senior high school. The result of this research showed that the teacher can engage students, it because students actively followed teacher instructions during the process of extensive reading practice that mediated by Let’s Read Asia. During the extensive reading practice that mediated by Let’s Read Asia students could make their interest to read with books that have self selected by students. The students also give the positive responses in the process of extensive reading practice that mediated by Let’s Read Asia as a media of students reading activity
VERBALPHRASE MIT PRÄPOSITION AND PRÄPOSITIONALPHRASE IN GERMAN
This paper is aimed to examine the construction elements of Verbalphrase mit Präposition and Präpositionalphrase in German and the matters that influence it. The result of this paper indicates that Verpbalphrase mit Präposition is followed by prepositions and it is also influenced by subjects and cases. Präpositionalphrase can be formed from prepositions are followed by noun phrases and cases of Akkusativ, Dativ, and Genitiv. On the other hand, there are types of prepositions can be influenced by cases of Akkusativ and Dativ. The preposition is called Wechselpräpositionen. Verpbalphrase mit Präposition and Präpositionalphrase can be found in one sentence, so that, sentence can be formed from two types of phrases.
