    EXFOLIATIVE CHEILITIS DAN PENATAlAKSANAANYA

    Latar Belakang: Exfoliative cheilitis adalah suatu keadaan inflamatori kronis superfisial yang ditandai dengan adanya pengelupasan permukaan keratin bibir sedangkan area yang lain terjadi pembentukan lapisan keratin.Tujuan: untuk melaporkan suatu kasus exfoliative cheilitis yang diikuti ±selama 2 bulan beserta penatalaksanaannya. Laporan kasus: Seorang wanita berusia 52 tahun mengeluh bibir bawahnya pecah-pecah, terasa kering dan panas.Berdasarkan pemeriksaan subyektif dan klinis, exfoliative cheilitis ditetapkan sebagai diagnosis kerja. Penatalaksanaan: Komunikasi-Informasi-Edukasi (KIE) diberikan kepada pasien pada awal kunjungan disertai pemberian metil prednisolon, vitamin B1.6.12.dan anjuran untuk menghentikan kebiasaan menjilat-jilat bibir bawah, menghindari stres dan meningkatkan asupan makanan yang mengandung vitamin A. Pada kunjungan berikutnya pemberian metil prednisolon dihentikan karena terdeteksi adanya peningkatan tekanan darah. Untuk selanjutnya kondisi bibir bawah dievaluasi ±selama 2 bulan. Kesimpulan: Progresitas Exfoliative cheilitis dapat dihentikan dengan bantuan KIE serta menghindari faktor pemicu stres, yang pada akhirnya akan dapat meminimalisir aktivitas factitious berupa menjilat-jilat bibir bawah.     VALIDATIONOF PCR-RFLP TESTING METHOD TO DETECT PORCINE CONTAMINATIONIN CHICKEN NUGGET

    PCR-RFLP technique to detect porcine contaminationin chicken nugget has been developed and validated in tms research. Variousconcentrations of pork were fortified during preparation of the nugget. DNA was then isolated from the nugget followed by PCR employed primers which targeted a 359 bp cytB gene fragment of mitochondrial DNA. For RFLP, the PCR product was digested by means of BamHI and BseDI enzymes. Cutting DNA fragments from nugget containing pork using BseDI enzyme produced DNA fragment with size 228 and 131 bp, while cutting with BamHI enzyme produce DNA fragments with sizes 244 and 115 bp. All of these fragments were not present in RFLP analysis of pork-free nugget. The method shows good specificity and precision and could detect porcine contaminationin the nugget up to 5%. The method has been applied to test commercial nugget. Four brand of Halallabeled commercialnugget as well as four brand of non labeled one gave negative porcine contamination

    Cardiovascular diseases are the disorder of artery carrying blood into heart muscle and characterized by thickening, stiffening and constriction of the artery. In spite of cardiovascular disease cases have been known since along time ago, the main factor, mechanism, pathogenesis and indicator of the early existence of these diseases are still unknown. Transforming growth factor p-l (TGF P-l) is a growth factor produced by various cell types which are presumed to be involved in cardiovascular diseases. This research was done to find out the role of TGF p-l in cardiovascular diseases. Twenty female Sprague Dawley rats, 150 grams of body ~eight were used in this research. Rats were adapted for seven days, and then divided randomly into two Groups, 10 rats for each. Group I was fed in standard diet containing 5% of saturated fat, while Group II was fed in high fat diet containing 30% of saturated fat. Rats were maintained for two months, corresponding to each diet treatment of both groups and water ad libitum. After two months of the diet, blood was collected from orbital vein and stored into uncoagulated tube for triglyceride measurement. Rats were then killed, neropsied and their heart tissues were collected into tubes containing 10% formaldehyde for histopathologic analysis and immunohistochemistry to see the expression ofTGF p-l. The result of blood analysis showed that the average of triglyceride concentration of Group I was 126 mg/dl and 228.1 mg/dl of Group II.     Di laut Jawa banyak populasi lumba-lumba yang sering tersangkutjala para nelayan saat mencari ikan di laut. Di Indonesia, lumba lumba hidung botol merupakan mamalia air yang dilindungi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil eritrosit bottlenose dolphin (lumba-lumba hidung botol) sebeluni dan setelah penangkaran. Tujuh ekor lumba-lumba digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Sampel darah diambil melalui vena superfisialis sirip ekor guna pemeriksaan eritrosit, meliputi jumlah, morfologi, kadar hemoglobin dan hematokrit. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan saat lumba-lumba diangkat dari perairan Laut Jawa dan setelah lumba-lumba mengalami penangkaran di PT. WSI, Kendal, Jawa Tengah. Data sebelum dan sesudah penangkaran dibandingkan dan diuji dengan analisis statistik t-test berpasangan pada tingkat signifikasi 95%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan jumlah eritrosit, kadar hemoglobin dan nilai hematokrit secara signifikan. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penangkaran yang dilakukan oleh PT.WSI, Kendal, Jawa Tengahmeningkatkan profil eritrositlumba-lumba hidungbotol. In the Java Sea, there are a lot of dolphins, that often snagged fishing nets. While In Indonesia, bottlenose dolphins are mammals protected water. The aims of this research was to study the erythrocytes profile in bottlenose dolphins before and after the captivity. Seven dolphins were used in this research. Blood samples were\u27 taken out from the superficial vein of tail for examination of the number of erythrocytes, hemoglobin levels and value ofhematokrit. Sampling was done when the dolphins appointed from the waters of the Java Sea and after experiencing dolphin captivity in PT. WSI, Kendal, Central Java. The data before and after captivity were compared and tested with the statistical analysis on the level of significance of the paired t-test 95%. The results showed the significant increase in the number of erythrocytes, hemoglobin levels and the values ofhematokrit significantly. It was concluded that captivity done by WSI Corporation, Kendal, Central Java did increase the profile of erythrocytes inbottlenose dolphins

    Newcastle disease (ND) is caused by Avian paramyxovirus, family Paramyxoviridae, one of the major diseases in chickens. This research was aimed to find lesions in chicken\u27s embryo organs macroscopically and microscopically, infected by pathogenic ND virus. Embryonic chicken eggs (ECE) were inoculated by the ND Salatiga virus and ND La Sota virus as a control avirulent virus.Aquabidestilata used as a negative control. ECE wich showed the death of the embryos, stored in the refrigerator. The allantois fluid was collected, for further examination of viral growth. Chicken embryos that died then observed macroscopically. The organs of chicken embryos were made into histopathologic preparations stained with Hematoxylin and ,Eosin (H&E) for microscopic analysis. The identification of ND virus growth on isolates was done by haemagglutination and haemagglutination inhibition test using an anti-ND serum. The chicken embryos that were infected by the ND Salatiga virus died approximately 26 hours post-inoculation. Macroscopic lesions were visible as haemorrhage in the skin. Microscopic lesions indicated the congestion and haemorrhage in lungs, inflammation and congestion in the skin, congestion in intestines, liver, kidneys and heart. There was also mild congestion on the skin in chicken embryos infected by ND La Sota virus. The microscopic lesions showed congestion in lungs, liver, kidneys and heart, also the inflammation and congestion on the skin. The macroscopic and microscopic lesions of chicken embryos infected by the ND Salatiga virus were more severe than lesions caused by ND La Sota virus

    Pemeriksaan histopatologis insang ikanhias air lautyang terinfestasiDactylogyrus sp. dilakukan karena parasit ini sering ditemukan pada insang ikan hias air laut yang pada umumnya tidak menunjukkan gejala klinis maupun lesi patologis anatomis patognomonik. . Pemeriksaan sampel ikan hias air laut dilakukan dari bulan Januari-Juli 2011 di Laboratorium Balai Karantina Ikan Pengendalian Mutu dan Keamanan HasH Perikanan. Penelitian ini diawali dengan pemeriksaan natif insang ikan hias air laut yang terinfestasi Dactylogyrus sp.dan dilanjutkan dengan pemeriksaan histopatologis. Pada pengamatan preparat secara natif, Dactylogyrus sp. berulruran 200-500 &#946m. Pada pemeriksaan lesi patologis anatomis, insang yang terinfestasi Dactylogyrus sp. terlihat adanya pembengkakan pada lamela insang dan berwarna lebih gelap daripada normal. Pada pemeriksaan histopatologis, insang yang terinfestasi Dactylogyrus sp. mengalami hiperplasia dan fusipada sel-sel epitelia lamela primer dan sekunder.Fusi lamela insang tersebut, terutama yang dapat mengakibatkan kematian pada ikan karena kekurangan oksigen. In the present study, Dactylogyrus sp. was examined in the gill(s) of the ornamental marine fish due to the fact that this kind of parasite is very often found in tho&efishes without any pathognomonic clinical signs or pathologic anantomic lesions. The gill( s) samples collection and examination were performed in the Laboratory. of Balai Karantina Ikan, Pengendalian Mutu dan Keamanan Hasil Perikanan. during Janury-July 2011. At first, the gills were examined natively and were subsequently processed for histopathologic examination. In the native examination, it was found the Dactylogyrus sp. with their size(s) ranging from 200-500 &#946m. At necropsy, the gills were swollen and looked darker than normal. Based on the histopathologic lesions, the epithelial cells of the gills lamellas either primary or secondary became hyperplasia and fusion. The fusion of the gills is primarily thought to cause fatal to the fish due to significant oxygen depletion

    Tingkat Kekebalan Anjing Terhadap Rabies di Kota Ambon = Herd Immunity Against Rabies Among Dogs in Ambon

    The objectives of this study were to reveals factors associated with level of herd immunity against rabies. Four hundred and eighteen blood samples were collected from five subdistricts and 14 villages using stratified and household cluster methods. The result in ELISA test is &#88050,5 IV/ml, dog titers sample was stated as protective to rabies. The result showed that the prevalence of protective antibody titers was very low i.e. 3.35%. Linear regression analysis reveals subdistrict of Nusaniwe, subdistrict of Baguala, dog owner education, postvaccination period of 0 - 6 months, sex, and dogs kept as a guard house contribute to protective level of antibody titers. Unweighted logistic regression revealed that subdistrict of Baguala (OR = 0.05), subdistrict of Sirimau OR = 0.09), dog kept as a guard house (OR = 3.96), dog owner education (OR = 12.29), and post-vaccination period of 0 - 6 months (OR = 27.08) are significantly associated with dog\u27s immunity. Vaccination programs need be improved by considering the four factors that emerged in these two regression results. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap tingkat kekebalan anjing terhadap rabies di Kota Ambon. Sebanyak 418 sampel darah anjing yang berasal dari lima kecamatan dan 14 desalkelurahan dengan metode tahapan berganda dan klaster. Hasil pengujian ELISA &#88050,5 IU/ml, maka titer dinyatakan protektif terhadap rabies. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan prevalensi titer antibodi protektif sangat rendah yaitu 3,35%. Analisis linear regressionmenunjukkan Kecamatan Nusaniwe, Kecamatan Baguala, pendidikan pemilik anjing, periode pascavaksinasi 0 - 6 bulan, jenis kelamin, dan anjing yang dipelihara sebagai penjaga rumah secara signifikan memengaruhi titer antibodi protektif. Analisis unweighted logistic regression menunjukkan faktor yang berasosiasi dengan tingkat kekebalan anjing yaitu Kecamatari-Baguala (OR=0,05), Kecamatan Sirimau (OR=0,09), anjing yang dipelihara sebagai penjaga rumah (OR=3,96), pendidikan pemilik anjing (OR=12,29), dan periode pascavaksinasi 0 - 6 bulan (OR=27,08).     This study aims to model the growth trend of the extent of land usefor building based on the carrying capacity of land in Palu city which is known as Bay City in accordance with the prediction of time. Methods of research were carried out with the approach of spatial and quantitative methods. The results show that Palu city as Bay City has the characteristics of urban land that is quite specific to the protected area. There is still available land for building i.e.: ± 13.151,13ha (34.74%) with a growth rate of land usefor building in the future 2.72% per year, area of cultivation will be fully filled in the year 2056 with the capacity of 1.052.730 people. Carrying capacity of land in Palu city until the year 2056 has not exceeded the threshold, either by the land consumption per capita or by the level density

    Penggunaan teknologi seperti SIG sangat baik untuk mengelompokkan data keruangan lahan berdasarkan faktor potensi dan penghambat penggunaannya. Dengan mengimprovisasi metode tumpang susun diharapkan mampu mempercepat proses studi tentang pengkelasan kemampuan lahan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah pengaplikasian SIG berbasis data raster untuk memetakan kelas kemampuan lahan di Provinsi Bali dengan menggunakan metode "nilai piksel pembeda". Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan SIG dapat memperlihatkan sebaran kelas kemampuan lahan yang heterogen dan kompleks sehingga mcmperjelas informasi lahan pada satuan unit lahan yang sempit. Selain itu penggunaan metode ini juga membantu mempercepat proses tumpang susun\u27 dan query data. Kelas kemampuan lahan di Provinsi Bali dapat dikelompokkan menjadi 8 kelas, dari kelas I sampai kelas VIII. Sebaran kelas kemampuan lahannya didominasi oleh lahan dengan kelas VI, VII dan VIII yaitu seluas 50,7% dari luas Provinsi Bali. Kabupatcn Buleleng, Jembrana, dan Karangasem berturut-turut merupakan daerah-daerah tcrluas- yang mcmiliki kemampuan lahan kelas VIII. Daerah-daerah tersebut harus lebih instensif dalam menjaga lahan-lahan berkelas VIII agar tidak beralih fungsi dari lahan hutan menjadi lahan non hutan

    IN VIVO EVALUATION OF MISOPROSTOL FLOATING MICROSPHERES

    Prostaglandin (PG) has been reported to be an important protective and acid suppressive factor in the gastric mucosa. The objective of the study was to develop and evaluate a stomach specific drug delivery system for controlled release of Misoprostal a PE analogue for gastric ulcer induced NSAIDs. Floating microspheres were prepared by emulsification-solvent evaporation method using ethyl cellulose as a polymer, carbo pol as mucoadhesive polymer. Ulcers were induced by the oral administration of absolute ethanol (5 mL/kg) to 24 h fasted Wistar male rats (n=8), weighing 200 g. Sodium bicarbonate solution, misoprostal solution and drug loaded microspheres were tested. Formulations were administered orally 1h before the administration of ethanol. Prior to the oral administration, rats were anesthetized with ethylic ether. After 2 h of ethanol administration, animals were sacrificedthe stomachs were removed, opened along .he greater curvature and examined for lesion measurements. Ulcer indexes (UI) were calculated. The in vivo evaluation showed that ulcer index values were 0.61 ± 0.14 for the sodium bicarbonate solution, 0.58 ±O.18 for the misoprostal and 0.11 :i: 0.06 for the misoprostal-Ioaded microspheres. The Kruskal- Wallis test detected statistical differences (p =0.002) between the ulcer indexes. The multiple analyses (Student-Newman-Keuls) showed that the misoprostal loaded microspheres presented a gastric ulcer index statistically lower than that of the sodium bicarbonate solution (p = 0.001) and the misoprostal solution (p = 0.021). The percentages of ulceration inhibition were 31\u27 and 75% after the administration of misoprostal solution and microspheres, respectively. In conclusion, the in vivo evaluation showed that the microspheres presented ulcer index lower than the solutions, showing that misoprostal-loaded microspheres were efficient in protecting the stomach against ulcer formation
