Elaborating Diversity in the University Library Services: A Study Report of a Research Project Held at the University of Kitakyushu (vol. 5)
Get PDF本稿では、2016年に北九州市立大学に開館した図書館新館における将来の教育・研究の更なる支援の方向性を検証するために2020 年度から実施している、学内助成による研究事業の継続事業となる2023年度学内研究助成事業の度活動報告を行う。本事業も5年目を迎えたが、コロナ禍でのこれまでに類を見ない社会的条件下での学修・研究支援への取り組みを含め、これまでの活動は本学図書館において多方面での成果につながった。前回報告した2022年度の研究事業では北九州市漫画ミュージアムからのマンガ寄贈が実現したが、今年度はその継続事業として第2回目の受け入れをおこなうなど、市の文化施設との連携事業も本年度の成果の一つとなった。その他にも寄贈を受けたマンガを活用したマンガ研究についてのワークショップを館内で実施し、その成果をポスター報告としてマンガコーナーに展示する事業にも取り組んだ。例年短期留学生向け図書館ツアーを実施することで短期留学生の図書館利用の促進に繋げてきたが、本年度も短期留学生の受入れ時期に合わせ年に2回のツアーを実施した。新規事業として資料のデジタル化に関連する事業が立ち上がり、今後も継続事業としての実施を検討することとなった。他にも図書館利用者調査の結果をもとに2023年度の本学図書館の運営状況の概要を整理した。departmental bulletin pape

Driving factors and future scenario predictions of urban household energy consumption and carbon emissions in China

It examines energy use patterns, provincial differences, and emission calculations. Using correlation and LMDI decomposition analysis, key drivers of household energy consumption are identified. A dynamic scenario model projects carbon trajectories across 30 provinces, considering socio-economic and technological changes under national policies. The findings provide insights for effective carbon reduction strategies, supporting China’s "dual carbon" goals. Language Plus Drawing: Towards a Cognitive and Cultural Pedagogy for Multimodal Literacy
Get PDFThis article argues that drawing and related visual practices, including diagrams, infographics, and digital media, should be understood as symbolic systems with structural properties analogous to language. Rather than functioning as purely aesthetic activities, visual modes operate as core cognitive technologies that complement and extend spoken and written communication. Drawing on interdisciplinary research, we review developmental and cross-cultural evidence showing that drawing integrates universal, resilient features with fragile, culturally specific competencies. Cognitive studies further demonstrate that drawing supports learning, reasoning, and problem-solving by externalizing thought in material representations. We then discuss broader educational implications and focus in particular on language education, where visual media and digital multimodal composing create authentic opportunities for meaning-making. Treating drawing and visual imagery as structured symbolic systems invites a reconsideration of their role in communication, education, and human cognition, and supports pedagogies that foreground multimodal literacy in an increasingly visual and digital world globally today.departmental bulletin pape

The study applies a comprehensive framework integrating logistic diffusion, dynamic MFA, LCA, and scenario simulation to forecast EV market expansion, evaluate V2X potential and system benefits, and analyze critical material recycling. Key contributions include forecasting EV scale and resource flows through 2060, assessing V2X benefits in terms of energy regulation, economic returns, and emission reduction, evaluating the recycling potential and environmental impact of lithium, cobalt, and nickel, and proposing feasible recycled content standards for China’s battery industry.
