    Study on optimization of distributed multi-energy coupling system for heating peak-shaving

    北九州市立大学博士(工学)Climate change is accelerating the global transition toward renewable energy. To enhance heating reliability and reduce fossil fuel dependence in cold regions, this study develops a Distributed Multi-Energy Heating Peak-Shaving System (DHPS). The proposed retrofit integrates solar thermal collectors, thermal storage, and absorption heat pumps into existing heat exchange stations, enabling dual-mode operation for effective peak shaving.Through dynamic simulation and multi-objective optimization, the system demonstrates significant improvements in energy efficiency and emission reduction. Compared to conventional boiler-based peak-shaving, DHPS reduces combustion emissions by nearly 40%, improves primary energy efficiency, and shortens the payback period. A novel hybrid optimization algorithm is introduced to optimize system configuration and operation strategies.This research offers a technically and economically viable pathway toward low-carbon, intelligent district heating in cold climates, with practical insights for retrofit design and policy support.doctoral thesi

    Assessment of cooling effects of different urban outdoor spaces

    北九州市立大学博士(工学)Global climate change and rapid urbanization have intensified the urban heat island effect, posing severe risks to health and urban livability. Existing studies overlook three aspects: spatial–functional heterogeneity, social benefits of urban cooling infrastructure and coupled mechanisms linking environment, perception, and social outcomes. This study addresses these gaps by evaluating microclimate parameters, physiological equivalent temperature, subjective thermal comfort, and social benefits across functional spaces in two cases in Chongqing, Mixc Chongqing and Longtang lake park. Field monitoring and questionnaire surveys were combined with statistical analysis, entropy–hierarchical weighting, and structural equation modeling (SEM). Results show significant spatiotemporal heterogeneity, with shaded and semi-open spaces performing better than exposed zones. SEM reveals a partial mediation model in Mixc Chongqing and a full mediation model in Longtang lake park, underscoring contextual contingency. The study contributes a dual-dimensional evaluation framework and context-specific UCI strategies for climate-adaptive urban design.doctoral thesi

    Impact of built environment on pedestrian density in diverse urban fabrics

    北九州市立大学博士(工学)Abstract: Against the backdrop of rapid urbanization and profound transformations in urban fabric, this study systematically investigates the impact of the built environment on pedestrian density. By integrating multiple data sources to capture mesoscale built environment variables and applying deep learning–based semantic segmentation of street view images to extract microscale built environment variables, this study develops a comprehensive multi-scale, multi-model analytical framework using statistical linear models and machine learning algorithms. Our findings quantify the differences between peri-urban and core areas, reveal nonlinear relationships and interaction effects of building density, and uncover patterns of pedestrian activity under varying levels of urbanization. Furthermore, the study identifies key built environment factors and proposes targeted interventions to enhance pedestrian environments. Overall, this study not only enriches the theoretical understanding of walkability across diverse urban fabrics but also provides empirical evidence and policy implications for advancing sustainable and human-centered urban planning.doctoral thesi

    Study on optimization of supply and demand-side power decarbonization through power purchase agreements

    北九州市立大学博士(工学)The energy transition is vital for achieving carbon neutrality. However, integrating renewable energy presents both technical and economic challenges, particularly in ensuring financial viability and aligning the interests of supply- and demand-side stakeholders. This study systematically addresses these issues by investigating the role of green power purchase agreements (PPAs) in driving power sector decarbonization. To navigate uncertainties, we propose a novel deep learning and stochastic optimization approach. Additionally, by introducing a fresh perspective on renewable energy investments, this research examines financial risks that have been largely overlooked in existing studies. The development of a structured PPA framework effectively bridges this research gap. By integrating both supply- and demand-side perspectives, this study aims to establish a flexible, low-risk, and revenue-optimized strategy for advancing the energy transition.doctoral thesi

It aims to elucidate stress recovery mechanisms from both single-factor and multi-factor perspectives. Chapter 1 outlines the research background, emphasizing the importance of indoor environmental quality on students' mental health. Chapter 2 reviews EEG-based studies on acoustic and olfactory environments, highlighting research significance. Chapter 3 establishes an experimental framework for standardized stress recovery analysis. Chapters 4 and 5 examine the effects of different sounds and scents on comfort, brain activity, and stress recovery, emphasizing natural elements. Chapter 6 explores the multisensory influence of biophilic environments on psychological and physiological recovery. Chapter 7 summarizes findings and future directions. This study integrates theoretical and experimental approaches, identifying the neural mechanisms of stress recovery and providing insights for biophilic design. The findings contribute to improving public health and indoor environmental quality.doctoral thesi
