Integrated Approaches to Macroplastic Detection and Solid Waste Management Practices in Urban and Coastal Waterways
北九州市立大学博士(工学)This research focuses on detecting macroplastic waste in waterways such as canals and beaches and examining the influence of the surrounding environment on the presence of waste floating in the waters. The first chapter is an introduction to the overall research framework. The second chapter discusses bibliometric analysis to find gaps in problems related to research topics. The third chapter discusses solid waste management practices in coastal settlements with primary survey analysis. In chapter four, a visual survey of detection objects is carried out to count and analyze beach waste. Chapter five uses aerial mapping to detect macroplastic waste using UAVs in canals and uses Kernel-Density-Analysis to assess the distribution of macroplastics based on season. Chapter six compares the results of UAV surveys of floating waste in canals with waste management conditions in water catchment areas using network analysis.doctoral thesi
Research on the mechanism of passive design of traditional rural dwellings in the Loess Plateau region in China
北九州市立大学博士(工学)This paper, within the context of rural revitalization, delves into a comprehensive understanding of the potential mechanisms underlying the operation of passive strategies in rural residential applications, enabling a thorough assessment of the indoor thermal conditions in rural residences, and facilitating the exploration of methods to enhance energy efficiency in rural buildings. In Chapter 1, the background and purpose of the research were elaborated. In Chapter 2, the literature review on passive strategies were sorted out. In Chapter 3, the material related to this research was proposed, and the methodology of the research was studied. In Chapter 4, the case study 1: socio-environmental responsive strategy of traditional Tianshui dwellings is introduced. In Chapter 5, the case study 2: comparative analysis on the mechanism of climate responsiveness strategies of Yulin traditional dwellings. In Chapter 6, the exploration of the applicability construction model for renewal design was investigated. In Chapter 7, the conclusions and recommendations of this study are elaborated.doctoral thesi
Study on Blue-Green Infrastructure Network to reduce local flooding in central Hanoi, Vietnam
北九州市立大学博士(工学)Urban flooding poses a critical challenge in rapidly urbanizing cities, especially in developing countries like Vietnam. In Hanoi, rapid urbanization, extensive land cover changes, and impermeable surfaces have increased the city's vulnerability to flooding. The outdated drainage systems, overwhelmed by heavy rainfall, exacerbate flood risks, particularly in low-lying areas like the central region. This study aims to assess urban flooding susceptibility in Hanoi and explore the potential of Blue-green infrastructure (BGI) as a sustainable solution. The finding shows that the potential of BGI in the study area is quite large. Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and statistical analysis, the research evaluates factors such as land use, topography, hydrology, and infrastructure. The findings highlight BGI's potential to reduce flood risks and enhance urban resilience, emphasizing its integration into urban planning. This study provides valuable insights for policymakers and urban planners in developing sustainable flood management strategies for Hanoi.doctoral thesi

A Study on Clustering Schemes for Efficient Information Distribution in Information-Centric Networking
北九州市立大学博士(工学)Information-Centric Networking (ICN) has attracted attention to meet the demand for content distribution. ICN supports content distribution using the network part as well as the producer by installing a cache function in the routers. However, since their cache size is extremely small, it is important to consider the efficient use of routers. To address this, several clustering schemes have been proposed to group several routers (i.e., a cluster) in the network and efficiently distribute content to each consumer by using nearby clusters. Nevertheless, two important issues remain: 1. how to efficiently use surrounding clusters, and 2. how to adapt to changes in content demand trends. In this study, I propose a novel clustering scheme that considers these issues and demonstrate its effectiveness through simulation evaluations. This scheme will contribute to improving quality of service regarding diverse content distribution in the future through clusters automatically formed based on content demand trends.doctoral thesi
Multi-objective optimization of passive building design in plateau regions using passive solar heating indicators
北九州市立大学博士(工学)This study develops and validates the Passive Solar Heating Indicator (PSHI) to enhance building adaptability in plateau and cold regions through Multi-Stage Heterogeneous Vertical Enclosure (HVE) optimization. It uses polynomial regression and K-means clustering to evaluate energy-saving potential in 600 global cities and applies genetic algorithms for optimization, achieving a 11.58% reduction in energy use and a 5.93% increase in comfort duration. The research highlights the impact of envelope material configuration on thermal storage and insulation, providing practical guidance for passive heating strategies worldwide and supporting sustainable architectural design across diverse climates.doctoral thesi
