Get PDFThe concept of diversity gained popularity in management literature in the 21st century. Diversity management, a part of human resource management (HRM), plays a significant role in an organization. It is concerned with the recognition, effective deployment, and harmonization of individual employee eccentricity. This study seeks to provide a brief review of diversity management and explore the organizational diversity HRM in Japan. This study delves into the nature of managerial work in Japan in an era of widespread corporate reform and changing HRM practices. There has been a shift in HRM practices from traditional to Western, and several organizations are adopting a diversity approach. Workforce diversity has gathered increasing attention from researchers over the years, and it has become a significant part of public administration as well. Study on the adaptability of indoor and outdoor living environment in Southern Shaanxi
No full text北九州市立大学博士(工学)Approaching from environmental and policy perspectives, this study examines the rural human settlement issues in southern Shaanxi, emphasizing the practical significance of traditional dwellings in addressing contemporary climate challenges. This research combines CFD simulations and on-site measurements to investigate indoor thermal comfort (using PMV-PPD indices) and outdoor wind environments in traditional villages of southern Shaanxi. Key issues identified include poor insulation, suboptimal spatial arrangement, and inadequate building materials. The study proposes evidence-based design strategies: optimizing height-to-width ratios (0.5–1.5) and street width (3–6m/6–11m), improving building density (<36%), and enhancing envelope performance with fly ash brick walls with EPS insulation, Low-E glazing (WWR=0.4), and roof insulation. A west-south orientation of 10° is recommended to improve microclimatic performance. These technical measures provide a systematic approach to enhance indoor-outdoor comfort and support climate-responsive rural design.The study proposes a village renovation framework adapted to the climatic features and lifestyle of southern Shaanxi, providing useful guidance for rural planning and green building development.doctoral thesi
Optimization of thermal comfort and energy demand in Japanese detached houses based on field evaluation and simulation
Get PDF北九州市立大学博士(工学)As the global economy grows, residents are increasingly demanding greater comfort in their living environments, leading to higher energy consumption in buildings. Indoor temperature is a critical factor in home comfort. Understanding local thermal comfort needs can inform the design of residential buildings and HVAC systems, avoiding excessive energy use. This study examines the climate adaptability of detached houses in Kitakyushu, Japan. Simulations and field measurements—including thermal environment surveys and questionnaires in winter and summer—were conducted in five homes. A new adaptive thermal comfort model was proposed and compared with existing standards (ASHRAE 55 and Japanese models) to assess energy-saving potential. Using parametric simulations and genetic algorithms, 14 building envelope parameters were optimized to balance energy demand and comfort. A study on the transformation and reproduction of landscape painting of medieval Japanese gardens

It analyzes how core compositional principles-including the “Three Distance,” negative space, and corner layouts-served as conceptual templates for Japanese rock arrangements and spatial desing. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research integrates digital image analysis(feature extraction, spatial rhythm deconstruction, visual path modeling) with psychological surveys (Likert-scale questionnaires) to compare “reclining travel” in paintings and “seated contemplation” in gardens. Findings reveal significant compositional parallels in void-solid organization and focal point strategies, demonstrating how Japanese gardens adapted Chinese pictorial principles into three-dimensional meditative environments. Through sensitivity analysis, optimization, and economic evaluation, it proposes sustainable retrofitting strategies while preserving architectural heritage. Field measurements and simulations using EnergyPlus and NSGA-II multi-objective optimization reveal significant energy savings, particularly through insulation improvements. Findings show that insulation thickness and air change rate optimization reduce energy consumption by 88%. Economic analysis using Dynamic Payback Period and Net Present Value confirms the financial feasibility of these upgrades. To analyze the relationship between building energy consumption and the energy efficiency ratio of air conditioning and the area of photovoltaic (PV) on the roof, the influence of the building envelope on building energy consumption in hot summer and cold winter regions in China is clarified. The research result indicated that the combination the renewable energy with efficient equipment can achieve dual optimization of environmental and economic aspects of building energy consumption, while providing reference opinions on the comprehensive evaluation method of building energy consumption from the perspective of carbon tax.doctoral thesi

Get PDF2024年1月の能登半島地震で、被災した石川県志賀町の住宅から捕鯨船の模型が無傷で出てきた。模型を製作したのは、かつてこの捕鯨船に機関員として乗船していた方で、模型は所有者のご厚意により、捕鯨船の建造地にある下関市立大学に寄贈された。捕鯨船本体は、現役引退後下関市に寄贈され下関漁港で係留展示されていたが、現在は老朽化により解体され、捕鯨砲等一部がモニュメントとして陸上展示されている。能登半島地震が繫いだ模型を通して、捕鯨船が活躍した当時の商業捕鯨や能登と下関について改めて検証すると、見えてきたのはくじらと捕鯨を通じた人と物の繋がりであった。departmental bulletin pape
