    Get PDF
The quantitative objectives of the study were to determine (1) whether attitude significantly influenced the behavioural intention of illegal racers to engage in illegal motorcycle street racing; (2) whether subjective norms significantly influenced the behavioural intention of illegal racers to engage in illegal motorcycle street racing; (3) whether perceived behaviour control significantly influenced the behavioural intention of illegal racers to engage in illegal motorcycle street racing behaviour; (4) whether low self-esteem significantly influenced the attitude, subjective norm and perceived behaviour control of illegal racers to engage in illegal motorcycle street racing behaviour; (5) whether demographic profiles of (abusive parenting and traumatic experience) significantly influenced the attitude, subjective norms and perceived behaviour control of illegal racers to engage in illegal motorcycle street racing behaviour. The qualitative objectives of the study were (1) to ascertain how low self-esteem of illegal racers significantly influence their attitude and behavioural intention to engage in illegal motorcycle street racing behaviour and (2) to ascertain the most significant impactful factors on attitude and behavioural intention of the illegal racers to engage in illegal motorcycle street racing behaviour. The Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) and its new extended constructs developed in this study and mixed methods of quantitative (n=261) and qualitative data (n=15) were used to measure the three original TPB constructs of attitude, subjective norm and perceived behaviour control of the illegal motorcycle street racers under study. The interpretation of the hypothesized Ha effect paths shows that out of five Ha hypothesis tested, three (H3, H4 and H5) were accepted with two (H1 and H2) rejected. The Wilayah Iskandar case revealed that the strongest predictor of on attitude and behavioural intention to engage in illegal racing among the illegal racers was the subject norm peer risk taking. These findings are supported by the qualitative data which revealed that ‘focus on peers’ to be the most significant impactful drive in influencing illegal racers’ intention to race. The results also show that illegal motorcycle street racers’ intentional behaviour appears to be affected by attitude (mental outlook and emotion) and perceived behaviour control (resources, past experience and rewards). These findings were supported by the qualitative data from the Deviant Theory of Social Learning dimensions of Differential Association, Imitation, Differential Reinforcement and Definitions collected through the face-to-face interviews with the illegal racers. However, the analysis found that demographic factors and low self-esteem did not have positive effect on illegal racers’ attitude and subjective norm to influence their intention to engage in illegal motorcycle street racing. But there is positive effect between demographic factors and low self-esteem on illegals racers’ perceived behaviour control in influencing their behavioural intention to engage in illegal racing behaviour. By identifying factors that influenced the intention of illegal racers in Wilayah Iskandar to engage in illegal motorcycle street racing, this research may inform future strategies to minimise if not overcome the pressing problems of illegal street racing menace. PurposeService quality has been highlighted as the vital element in fulfilling customers' needs, which contributes to the customers' evaluation on the services given. As food truck business is increasingly popular in Malaysia, it is important for the food trucks' service provider to ensure that their service quality meets the standard to satisfy the customers in order to build customer loyalty. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between food trucks' service quality with customer satisfaction and its impact toward customer loyalty. The customer service was measured using service quality (SERVQUAL) attributes (tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy).Design/methodology/approachA quantitative study was conducted to examine the influence of food trucks' service quality on customer satisfaction and its impact toward customer loyalty. A total of 100 food truck customers have been randomly selected to answer the self-administered questionnaire. Data collected were analyzed using frequency, descriptive, reliability, Pearson correlation and regression analysis.FindingsFindings indicated that three out of five attributes of service quality have significant relationships toward customer satisfaction. They are tangibles (β = 0.225, p β = 0.349, p β = 0.311, p β = 0.643, p Originality/valueService quality can be characterized as the discrepancy between customer service standards and actual service. When expectations are higher than performance, perceived quality is less than acceptable and therefore consumer disappointment exists which eventually decreases customer loyalty toward a product or services. The study suggested that physical image of the food trucks' service like physical facilities, how the service being performed and also courtesy and knowledge of the food trucks' employees are very important to transfer confidence and trust to customers, which then will influence them to be loyal. Teachers play an important role to help student in solving problem in school and consequently preparing for their future career. Teachers can be the most important feature to expose thinking style in class. This is the implication of Technical and Vocational Education and Training programme which requires the students to be able to think creatively and critically in problem-solving. As inventive problem solving is known to be creative assessment methods for innovation, it is needed to guide Design and Technology teachers to expose the student new technique of solving a problem. This study attempts to investigate teachers’ perception of their thinking style and inventive problem-solving skill. The importance of thinking styles in inventive problem-solving skill and the factors contributing to the achievement to inventive problem solving are also discussed. Data were collected from 367 Design and Technology teachers across Malaysia. Data obtained were analyzed descriptively. This study confirmed that teachers know the role of thinking style in solving a problem. They also admit that inventive problem-solving skill is important but half of them still having problem to master the skills. Problem identification is claimed to be a vital process in solving a problem but yet, majority of them still facing problem in finding the root cause. As a counter-measures on this miss-alignment, modules are needed by teachers to help them integrating their thinking styles into teaching and learning in class. Module also acts as teaching aids for teachers in guiding them solving inventive problems. (Abstract by authors

Many organizations in Malaysia today face difficulties in retaining employees since they are unable to identify the factors that contribute to both the increase of employee knowledge on the company and loyalty towards the company. This study goes on to identify how with internal and external communications, and organisation can increase its employee’s knowledge on the company in a positive way and these better-informed employees are then more inclined to be loyal to the company. In QI Malaysia, there is at least one resignation a month and employees hardly know much about the organisation. The aim is to identify if the internal and external communications carried out did in fact help increase employee knowledge about the company and boost their loyalty in a quantitative method. The employees selected for this research received a survey form to fill independently. They were encouraged to complete the questionnaire during their break time or after work. From the response of the survey, we can understand and conclude that employees of QI Malaysia favour timely, frequent and more personal communication through internal communications and external communications methods. They are happy to know that through the internal communications that they are remembered by the company top level management and that their company is portrayed as an employer of choice, leading to individuals they know wanting to work in QI Malaysia. As recommendation, it is suggested that more content about the company is sent out through both internal and external communication of choice, in this case, mass mails being internal communication channel and Facebook as the external communication channel as most employees are engaged here. With more related contents through these two platforms, it will encourage engagement that will increase employee knowledge and loyalty towards the company. (Abstract by author
