THE EFFECTS OF EXERCIS RESPONSE ON CREATINE KINASE IN WHITE WISTAR RATS

    No full text
Increasing creatine kinase is an indicator  to detect damaged tissues. Therefore, the objective of this study was to identify the response of regular and irregular exercise on creatine kinase level at skeletal muscles. This study was an experimental study using randomized control group posttest only design, involving 39 white male Wistar strain Rattus norvegicus rats. These 39 rats were devided into three groups. The first group swam regularly at the frequency of three times a week, the second group swam irregulaly at the frequency of zero to five times a week and the third group served as control. This experiment was conducted within 12 weeks, and the exercise was performed 13 minutes per set, two to five sets with a load of three percent from the rats weight. Before the data  were taken, the rats were rested for 24 hours after the last experiment. Then, the data were collected by making the rats to swim for 13 minutes and the rats were given five minutes resting. Later, their blood was taken from sinus opticus orbitalis in order to check the creatine level by using a UV-test method. The data were analyzed with Anava test and continued with a HSD Turkey test. The results of this research showed that there were significant differences between regular and irregular exercises in the increase of creatine kinase level (p 0.05). Based on the results, it was concluded that regular exercises could avoid the increase of creatine kinase level which acts as an indicator to detect damaged tissues. Whereas, irregular exercise has the same potential effect with no exercise at all in creatine kinase level

Anxiety, stress and worry about the athletic experience on the part of athletes is a major area of concern. It is estimated that many young athletes drop out of organized sport each year due to frustration and fear of failure. Many young athletes thrive on the pressure and tension association with competitive sport. However, far too many find that the experience precipitates feelings of apprehension and stress. In this article I discuss the phenomenon of anxiety and how it affects the athletic experience. I present numeruous strategies designed to intervene and reverse the negative effects of anxiety on the athlete. To a large extent, intervention strategies are used to counter the effects of runaway anxiety and associated arousal. However, it is also important to realize that psychological intervention strategies can also be used to motivate and increase the attentional readiness of the athlete

The instrument for this developmental research was used for formative evaluation. The instrument was developed by the researcher himself. The instrument consisted of four components, namely (1) accuracy of content, (2) clarity of language, (3) ease of understanding and (4) attractiveness. The team of experts assigned to assess the physical education consisted of seven people. The data were obtained using a questionnaire on expert review and field test of the resulting product, and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The result of evaluation showed that the level of urgency for the product was that 57.14% of the experts considered this product as very urgent, while the remaining number considered it as urgent. Based on the level of consensus, this product was considered as a product which was very urgent for development to assist people so that they could apply physical fitness improvement training independently without the help of any instructor. ABSTRAK   Fadil, Muhammad. 2011. The Effect of Microscopic Model and Microscopic Teaching Aid upon Students’ Learning Achievement in the Fundamental of Chemistry Laws. Thesis, Chemistry Education Study Program, Faculty of Graduate Study, State University of Malang. Supervisors: (I) Prof. H. Effendy, Ph.D., (II) Dr. H. Subandi. M.Si.   Keywords:    microscopic model, microscopic teaching aid, students’ achievement, fundamental of chemistry laws Most of concepts and material in chemistry are abstract which tend to be studied properly by students who have achieved formal thinking level based on Piaget’s intellect development theory. Based on this theory all of senior high school students should have achieved this formal level. However, research results showed that most of senior high school students have not achieved this level. This makes most of senior high school students difficult in studying chemistry. One of chemistry topics which consists mostly abstract concepts is fundamental of chemistry laws. Students’ ability in studying this topic might be improved if they are involved in learning process using microscopic model and microscopic teaching aid. The objectives of this research were: (1) to find out the percentage of year X students who have achieved formal thinking level; (2) to find out correlation between year X students formal thinking ability with their achievement in fundamental of chemistry laws; (3) to identify students’ wrong understanding in fundamental of chemistry laws; and (4) to find out the different of year X students’ achievement in fundamental chemistry laws involved in the learning process using microscopic model and microscopic teaching aid. This research applied descriptive and quasi experimental designs. Descriptive design was applied to find out students’ formal thinking development and their wrong understanding in fundamental of chemistry laws. Quasi experimental design was applied to find out the effect of teaching using microscopic model and microscopic teaching aid upon students’ achievement in fundamental of chemistry laws. Research population was 138 year X students of SMA PGRI Lawang in the 2009/2010 academic year which distributed in four classes. Research sample was X-3 class which consisted of 32 students involved in chemistry teaching using microscopic model and X-4 class consisted of 35 students involved in chemistry teaching using mollymod as the microscopic teaching aid. Research instruments were Burney test used to measure students’ formal thinking development and achievement test used to measure students’ achievement in fundamental of chemistry laws. The later has content validity of 92.5% and reliability coefficient, measured using KR-20 formula, of 0.83. Research results showed that: (1) year X students who have achieved formal thinking level was 4.5%. 20.5 and 75.0% of them were still in concrete and transition levels; (2) there was positive correlation between year X students’ formal thinking ability with their achievement in fundamental of chemistry laws (r = 0.98 for students involved in teaching using microscopic model and r = 0.93 for students involved in teaching using mollymod as microscopic teaching aid); (3) students wrong understandings in fundamental of chemistry laws were: (a) 55.5% of students regarded that the number of moles of reactant and product involved in chemical reaction do not depend on their reaction coefficients; (b)  37.8% of students were unable to identify the limiting reagent; (c) 63.7%  of students regarded that mass of substances increases after reaction because of formation of product; (d) 55.5% of students regarded that strong electrolyte does not dissociate in solution; (e) 64.9% of students were unable to determine the number of element in its compound based on its index; (f) 59.2% of students calculated the volume of gases before and after reaction based on their types not on their reaction coefficients; (g) 66.8% of students regarded that gases react with the same volume and do not depend on their reaction coefficients; and (h) 51.5% of students regarded that gases react with the same number of particles and do not depend on their reaction coefficients; and (4) teaching using microscopic teaching aid gave better students achievement compared to that using microscopic model

The purpose of this study was to know the influence of aerobic exercise on lymphocyte proliferation response, valued from spleen weight and lymphoblast relative amount, of Balb/C mice infected by Salmonella typhimurium. This laboratory experimental research used The Post Test-Only Control Group Design. The subjects research were 32 male Balb/C mice, 8-10 weeks old, 20-40 grams weight, which were divided into four groups; control group (K), once a week aerobic exercise group (P1), three times a week aerobic exercise group (P2) and five times a week aerobic exercise group (P3). Mice were given swimming exercise in 8 weeks without considering the overload principle. Two days after training program, mice were injected by Salmonella typhimurium dose 106 intraperitoneally. Seven days post infection, mice were killed, and their spleen were taken. The weight and lymphoblast relative amount of the spleen were measured. The result showed that the spleen weight in control group was significantly higher than the other groups. The lymphoblast relative amount in control group was also significantly higher than P1 group, but  insignificant compared with other groups. The conclusion of the research was that aerobic exercise is not proved to increase, even decrease, lymphocyte proliferation response of Balb/C mice infected by Salmonella typhimurium
