Vissuti temporali e lavoro flessibile. Un'indagine qualitativa sul lavoro interinale

    Get PDF
The use of time on a daily, weekly and middle-term basis is a wellestablished method to grasp how agents make sense of a given social condition. In relation to the increasing flexibility in the labour market, such an approach provides insights which would go otherwise unnoticed, such as the alternation between the sense of precariousness and the feeling of delaying adulthood among young flexible workers. After highlighting briefly the assumptions at the basis of the use and meanings of time in post-industrial societies, I look at empirical data collected by interviewing a sample of agency- workers, since this is a radical form of atypical employment

Abstract - A marble fragment from the Church of San Giuliano di Selargius (Sardinia) proved to be the lid of a reliquary or a mensa martyrum of relevant relics of martyrs probably from Africa. The artifact has been documented with CAD techniques oriented 3D modeling and implementation of a VRML model.

Oil and product price dynamics in international petroleum markets

In this paper we investigate crude oil and products price dynamics. We present a comparison among ten prices series of crude oils and fourteen price series of petroleum products, considering four distinct market areas (Mediterranean, North Western Europe, Latin America and North America) over the period 1994-2002. We provide first a complete analysis of crude oil and product price dynamics using cointegration and error correction models. Subsequently we use the error correction specification to predict crude oil prices over the horizon January 2002-June 2002.The main findings of the paper can be summarized as follows: a) differences in quality are crucial to understand the behaviour of crudes; b) prices of crude oils whose physical characteristics are more similar to the marker show the following regularities: b1) they converge more rapidly to the long-run equilibrium; b2) there is an almost monotonic relation between Mean Absolute Percentage Error values and crude quality, measured by API° gravity and sulphur concentration; c) the price of the marker is the driving variable of the crude price also in the short-run, irrespective of the specific geographical area and the quality of the crude under analysis

La disponibilità a pagare per la copertura del rischio di non autosufficienza: analisi econometrica e valutazione di policy

In response to the increasing demand for elderly care, Italy has experienced an intense debate on what should be the most appropriate way to extend coverage for long-term care (LTC). This paper bridges a gap into existing literature by analysing household preferences for LTC coverage in light of an ad hoc survey. We present evidence on household stated willingness to pay (WTP) both for tax financed and private LTC insurance schemes. The distribution of WTP across different socio-economic groups provides insights on the political sustainability of the different institutional solutions. Moreover, estimates of the determinants of demand highlights the importance of income levels and opinion indicators in turning consumer preferences either to public or private schemes. We interpret the different patterns of WTP as evidence of the influence of the redistributive effects inherent to public insurance

A new species of Hypochaeris L. (Asteraceae, Cichorieae) from Sardinia

    Get PDF
Hypochaeris sardoa, belonging to H. sect. Metabasis, is described as a species new to science and illustrated. It occurs on siliceous rocks in southern Sardinia. Its karyology, ecology, chorology and relationship are examined. A key to the species ofH. sect. Metabasis is provided

Disponibilità idrica e cambiamenti nella composizione floristica osservati in alcune piccole isole della Sardegna

Modifications to climate, occurring frequently and over increasingly short periods, lead to changes in the flora of specific territories. The changes in the composition of several florae originally surveyed in different periods highlight the fact that reduction in the availability of water leads to an increase in therophytes and to a drastic reduction of hemicryptophytes. This phenomenon has been observed on some of the small Sardinian islands which, when compared with studies carried out there in previous years, now show evidence of significant alteration in their floristic composition

Innovation networks and knowledge flows across the europeans region

The recent resurgence of growth studies has indicated technological activities and knowledge spillovers as one of the most important factors in determining the performance of the economic systems. However, only few empirical studies have tried to analyse the flows of technology across regional economies due to the lack of adequate indicators. In this paper we propose new evidence on the characteristics of knowledge spillovers across the European regions based on a database on patents citations developed at the NBER . The data refers to patents granted by the US patent office to European firms over the period 1978-1997. First, we have assigned each patent to 147 European regions according to the place of residence of the first inventor. Then, we have examined in- and out- flows of patent citations as proxy of knowledge spillovers. In order to asses both the spatial and network characteristics of these flows we have tried to combine methodological instruments developed within the Social Network Analysis and the Geographical Information Systems. Our analysis shows the huge differences that exist among high tech and traditional sectors in the complexity of technological networks and in the geographical distribution of knowledge flows

Analisi distributiva e studio fitosociologico delle comunità a Santolina insularis (Gennari ex Fiori) Arrigoni della Sardegna meridionale (Italia)

Information on the distribution and phytosociological study of communities with Santolina insularis (Gennari ex Fiori) Arrigoni in southern Sardinia (Italy). Santolina insularis is a polyploid endemic distributed mainly in the south and central-eastern parts of Sardinia (Italy). It is found from sea level to the summit of Mt. Gennargentu (1834 m a.s.l.). This paper provides up-to-date information on the distribution of the species and the results of phytosociological study of the communities found in southern Sardinia. Two new associations called Euphorbio cupanii-Santolinetum insularis and Thymelaeo hirsutae-Santolinetum insularis are proposed on the basis of 37 original relevés and two from the literature. The former is linked to glareicolous environments of the Iglesias area and has two subassociations which vicariate in relation to substrate rocks and their physicochemistry, as well as bioclimatic and syndynamic conditions. The second is characteristic of non-stabilised alluvial beds of the Sarrabus-Gerrei and was hitherto regarded as a variant of the association Polygono scoparii-Helichrysetum microphylli. The two associations are related syntaxonomically through the alliance Teucrion mari, which includes chamaephytic vegetation with distribution in Sardinia and Corsica, indifferent to substrate chemistry and capable of establishing on degraded soils in the initial stages of pedogenesis
