Efek Ekstrak Buah Delima Merah terhadap Jumlah Fibroblas di Ligamen Periodontal Daerah Tarikan Gigi Tikus Wistar Selama Pergerakan Gigi Ortodonti
Orthodontic useful for repairing the arrangement of teeth by remodeling the alveolar bone and periodontal ligament and then fibroblast proliferation will occur. Fibroblast play a role in the formation of collagen fibers that will connect teeth to bones. Orthodontic takes a long time so it takes a method to speed it up. One of them can use red pomegranate extract which contains antioxidants. This Research purpose to analyze the effect and impact of the duration of administration of red pomegranate extract on the number of fibroblasts in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd weeks of the periodontal ligament in the tooth-tensioning area of wistar rats during orthodontic tooth movement. 36 rats divided into 6 groups: the group with orthodontic appliance installation without red pomegranate extract for 1 week (A), 2 weeks (B), and 3 weeks (C), and the orthodontic appliance installation group with red pomegranate extract administration for 1 week. weeks (D), 2 weeks (E) and 3 weeks (F). The provision of orthodontic mechanical forces by placing a ligature on the right M1 tooth and both maxillary incisors. Then the M1 is moved mesial using a tension gauge to produce a force of 11.5 gF with Ni-Ti closed coil spring. When the rats were euthanized and histology was made with Haematoxylin Eosin (HE) staining. Fibroblasts were observed by using microscope with 400 magnification in 3 fields of view. The average number of fibroblasts in all groups (A, B, C, D, E and F) increased and in the LSD test it was found that between groups there was a significant difference because it had a p-value ≤ 0.05 Red pomegranate extract increase the number of fibroblasts in the periodontal ligament tension area and there is an increase in the number of fibroblasts in the 1st week to the 3rd week
Pembentukan Hidroksikarbonat Apatit Oleh Pasta Injeksi Bioactive Glass Berbasis Silika Abu Ampas Tebu Dan Penambahan Karageenan Rumput Laut
Root caries is common in the elderly, usually detected late, involving enamel, cementum, and dentin below the cementoenamel junction (CEJ). Remineralisation is used to treat it when cavitation has not occurred. Bioactive glass triggers remineralisation by forming hydroxycarbonate apatite (HCA) at an early stage. Injectable paste preparations are needed to overcome these problems. The use of hyaluronic acid and carrageenan polymers supports the physical and mechanical properties of the paste preparation. The purpose this research to analyse the formation of HCA on the tooth root surface by administering bioactive glass (BAG) injection paste with the addition of seaweed carrageenan. This study was a laboratory experimental study with three research groups, namely treatment group 1 (BAG paste and hyaluronic acid), treatment 2 (BAG paste, hyaluronic acid and carrageenan), and control group (BAG without polymer). All groups were immersed in artificial saliva, incubated at 37oC for six days and then tested by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) to see the formation of HCA and FTIR. HCA was quantified by a scoring method according to predetermined score criteria. SEM showed HCA formation in both treatment groups, not the control group. There is HCA formation on the tooth surface by administering BAG injection paste with seaweed carrageenan
Stimulasi Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) pada Osteogenesis Pergerakan Gigi Ortodonti
The prevalence of malocclusion and the need for orthodontic treatment in Indonesia is relatively very high. Orthodontic treatment that transmits mechanical forces to the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone cells can stimulate the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone remodeling. While this time, orthodontic treatment requires a long time, resulting in several adverse effects and discomfort. For this reason, a method that can accelerate orthodontic treatment is needed which aims to increase stability after active orthodontic treatment, to reduce the potential for relapse, and to accelerate retention time. Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) stimulation is one of the methods that have this goal. This aim to study the stimulation mechanism of PEMF on the osteogenesis process of orthodontic tooth movement. Alveolar bone remodeling played an essential role in orthodontic tooth movement, is an active and dynamic process. The dynamic process depends on a balance between resorption and bone formation (osteogenesis). PEMF stimulation is a nonsurgical method that can promote osteogenesis through activation of Wnt signaling. Efektivitas Ekstrak Edamame (Glycine Max L. Merril) terhadap Streptococus Mutans pada Kawat Orthodontik Berbahan Nikel Titanium
Tooth movement in Orthodontic is brought about orthodontic archwire, which generate the biomechanical forces, transmit these forces via brackets to bring about tooth movement. Niti wire are the most commonly used in orthodontic treatment. These devices have characteristics that can lead to plaque accumulation. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of edamame extract (Glycine max L. Merril) Against Streptococcus Mutans (S. mutans) on orthodontic Nickel Titanium (NiTi). This study was an in vitro laboratory experimental study with a posttest only control group design. Edamame were extracted using the maceration method using 70% ethanol. NiTi immersed in artificial saliva in order to form pellicles for bacterial adhesion. NiTi that has been formed pellicles are then contaminated with S. mutans bacterial suspension, then cleaning is done by immersing in distilled water and edamame extract (Glycine Max L. Merril) with a concentration of 50, 75 and 100mg/ ml then observation is carried out by counting the number of colonies. with the Total Plate Count (TPC) method. The results showed that the smallest average number of S. mutans colonies was found in the edamame extract concentration of 75 and 100mg/ml. The statistical results showed that there was a significant difference between the 75 mg / ml edamame extract group and the negative control. Edamame extract with concentration of 50 mg/ml is an effective concentration in inhibiting the growth of S.Mutans bacteria
Temuan Klinis Akut Pseudomembran Candidiasis Pada Pasien Tuberkulosis (TB): Laporan Kasus
Tuberculosis (TB) caused by strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (M. tuberculosis), is a pulmonary infection that is spread by airborne droplet transmission. Highest incidences occurred in India. Indonesia soared on 2th place worldwide with 420.994 cases of tuberculosis in 2017. Most of TB patients do not maintain oral hygine and are smokers which can cause several oral manifestations such as oral candidiasis. The purpose of this case report is to describe the oral manifestations that occur in tuberculosis patients. A 39-year-old male patient complained of white plaques on tongue and sore throat since 2 weeks ago. The patient has a history of TB. The patient is being treated at Prof. Dr. Margono Soekardjo Hospital. Treatment plans that can be given is pharmacological therapy. Topical antifungal drug therapy is nystatin oral suspension. Non-pharmacological therapy in the form of communication, information, and education provided to patients in order to avoid some of the predisposing factors for candidiasis and the need for collaboration with pulmonary specialists who are dealing with systemic diseases. The key of success treatments for patient are management of oral candidiasis include administration of antifungal agents to suppress fungal, identification and elimination of predisposing factors and good communication, information and education
Daya Antibakteri Ekstrak Kulit Buah Kakao (Theobroma cacao L.) sebagai Alternatif Bahan Irigasi Saluran Akar terhadap Streptococcus viridans
Streptococcus viridans is a Gram-positive facultative anaerobe that most commonly found in infected root canals. The biomechanical preparation of root canal treatment requires root canal irrigation as it functions not only used to cleanser but also antibacterial agent. NaOCl 2,5% is the most commonly used Endodontic irrigant, however it is still considered to have several disadvantages. Cocoa pod shell (Theobroma cacao L.) are industrial plantation waste which has a source of antibacterial compounds that expected to be an alternative to substitute NaOCl’s drawbacks. This study aim to examine the antibacterial effectiveness of cocoa pod shell extract against S.viridans. The research is posttest only group control design and the method use broth dilution to examine the antibacterial effectiveness. The results of Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and Levene's test showed that data set which exhibited both non-normally distributed and non-homogeneous, continued with the nonparametric test using the Kruskal-wallis test, it was found that p <0.5 meant there were significantly differences between all study groups. 25%; 12,5%; 6,25%; 3,125%; 1,56%; 0,78% concentration of cocoa pod shell extract has antibacterial activity against S.viridans. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration to against S.viridans is cocoa pod shell extract concentration 0,78%. Cocoa pod shell extract concentration 12,5% and 25% equal to NaOCL 2,5%
Laporan Kasus : Frenektomi dengan Electrosurgery
The frenulum is a fold of mucous membrane that attaches the lips and cheeks to the alveolar mucosa, gingiva, and underlying periosteum. High frenulum attachment can cause periodontal and esthetic problems, such as gingivitis, gingival recession, and central diastema which require frenectomy. Frenectomy is the complete removal of the frenulum, including its attachment to the alveolar bone, causing a wide wound and triggering bleeding. A 21-year-old female patient who came to the Mataram City Hospital complained that her upper front teeth were not meeting and spaced. This situation makes the patient feel insecure. The patient had no history of systemic disease. OHIS is good and objective examination shows a central diastema due to the attachment of the superior labial frenum which achieves papillary penetration. Management is done by frenectomy with electrosurgery. The patient was very satisfied with the results. Frenectomy using electrosurgery provides good esthetic results and less bleeding
Reaksi Likenoid Sebagai Akibat Penggunaan Obat Antihipertensi pada Rongga Mulut
A lichenoid reaction is commonly finding in the oral cavity. A lichenoid reaction may be caused by systemic drugs. Among the drugs are antihypertensive drugs. The aim of this study is to know the treatment of patient with oral lichenoid reaction. Male patient came into RSGM Unsoed complaining of white patches on the right gums near 3rd molar three months ago. The white patches were painless and approximately 0.5 in diameter. Anamnesis was presenting patients is conducted and has been shown that they take 6 years of antihypertensive drugs and are prescribed by their own physician in the city of Semarang. The patient was then instructed on how to keep the oral hygiene and be evaluated two weeks later. Patients then having a normal tension and were off drugs for the following 2 weeks and got a slightly reduced lesion when it was carried out by control. Treatment of a lichenoid reaction can be done with communication, information, and education about his condition to the patient first. Another conservative treatment of topical corticosteroids is recommended when symptomatic symptoms occur. Treatment of patients with an asymptomatic reaction can be done with communication, information, and education to the patient and drug substitution if perceived as needed. Another treatment that can be taken is by using the topical corticosteroid if the lesion is symptomatic
Kejadian Stunting Berdasarkan Jenis Kelamin Dan Usia Di Wilayah Kerja Puskemas Kalisat
Stunting is a chronic condition characterized by the poor condition of the child or the inhibition of the child's linear growth due to the accumulation of various factors that occur over a long time. This situation can be seen based on the z-score of height according to age less than -2 standard deviation (SD) which is classified as short and very short. To find out the incidence of stunting by gender and age in the working area of the Kalisat Health Center in 2020. Descriptive research using secondary data from patient KIA data in February 2020. From the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the incidence of stunting in toddlers is mostly male and toddlers aged 24-36 months
Diagnosis dan Penatalaksanaan Kesehatan Rongga Mulut pada Wanita Hamil: Laporan Kasus
Pregnancy is physiological condition in women that occur alteration in oral cavity and other physiological changes in her body. The objective of this study is to report the oral diagnosis and management in pregnant woman. A 25-year-old woman complaining of gingival bleeding. The patient has had these complaints since the last 2 months. The patient admitted that her gingival bleed several times when using a toothbrush, but a few days ago the patient complained of bleeding gums when not in use for activities. The patient did not complain of any pain. Based on the results of subjective and objective examinations the diagnosis of the patient was gingivitis. Treatment planning for this patient was dental education emphasizing the oral condition during pregnancy and appropriate method for tooth brushing, scaling, control and evaluation. During pregnancy, dentists can perform dental and oral care, however must consider the protection of pregnant women and the developing fetus. The best time for treatment is in the second trimester. Care and maintenance of dental and oral health during pregnancy is an important part of overall health surveillance
