The intention and findings within this paper relate to the attempt to show the effect of the use of electronic tools in the educational process among primary school students. Computer video games are the definitive magnet that self-initiatively involves pupils and is popular in a process of their own choice, freedom, and personal satisfaction. In fact, that moment is original for effectively involving students in further education in the English language, since most of the games are structured in English. An abundance of attractive video games like Three Kingdoms, which have reached a peak among young people in China, our findings emphasized educational games such as Falling Clouds, which is intended for learning English grammar, and Big Describe, a game that practices reading in English. Spelling Bee is a creative, simple, and very interesting game that affects listening and spelling in pure English, while Concentration is a game that aims to help students enrich their vocabulary by connecting pictures and words. Playing video games among children nowadays is facilitated not only by modern devices but also by numerous platforms. Fredisa Learns is a multi-level English language learning platform intended for children from 4 to 12 years of age. ESLGames Plus is one of the most advanced platforms that contains educational games intended for children and teenagers who are learning English as a second language. English Online is a relatively older website, but one of the better websites where one can find well-designed educational material for learning English. The findings suggest that the educational character of games is undeniable, and they should be used in the right way. Linguistic Realization Patterns of Refusals by EFL University Students

    Get PDF
Refusals in English are complex speech acts that balance social norms, politeness, and the specific communicative context in which they occur. Labelled as illocutionary (Austin, 1962), directive or commissive (Searle, 1969) and face-threatening (Brown & Levinson, 1987); these are frequently used speech acts where a speaker rejects or declines an offer, request, invitation, or suggestion. The present paper investigates the language forms of refusals produced by two groups of EFL students: native Turkish and native Macedonian speakers. The analysed data was gathered through an online discourse completion task that includes multiple situations with various contexts and different social relations between the interlocutors. The participants of the study are specifically first year university students, who are learning English as a foreign language. The responses are analysed following the framework of Beebe et al. (1990), who classified refusal strategies in accordance to the degree of politeness and face-threatening nature of the response. The main aim of the paper is to explore the pragmatic strategies used to convey refusals and to examine the role of social variables in shaping refusals. The initial findings show that there are slight changes into the refusal forms and the strategies applied due to the change of social factors. However, it was concluded that both sample groups share the preference for indirect refusals, specifically in the form of an explanation. The research highlights the complexity of refusals as communicative acts and offers insight into the interrelations among language, social norms and culture Keywords: refusals, speech acts, EFL References Austin, J.

    Get PDF
The present research focuses on the security of Macedonian websites. It involves the analysis of HTTP Security header responses for 756 websites in the country, of which 246 are the most popular. This analysis is conducted across 13 different categories of websites, including government bodies and institutions, public institutions and enterprises, educational, commercial, news and media, entertainment, sports, etc. We intend to create a comprehensive security profile for the country's websites, which will help raise their overall security level. It is critical to understand and implement proper HTTP security headers to prevent or limit the dangers that can cause website attacks such as Denial of Service (DoS), Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF), SQL Injection, clickjacking, etc. Our analysis was performed with the help of the Mozilla Observatory tool. We have discovered a significant lack of implementation and/or misconfiguration of HTTP security headers in all categories. Almost half of the websites (n=375; 49.60\%) have an F grade, while more than a quarter of all websites (n=214; 28.31\%) have a minimal security score of 0

Teaching Phonetics in English Language: The Speech System

    Get PDF
Abstract – The sounds in language have initial role in the speech system. They all differ and cannot be repeated. Sometimes the speakers differ in repeating the same sounds because of different factors depending on the speaker. Each system is language specific. Foreign language speakers find themselves in a chaos of sounds because of the nature of the “problem” i.e. the speaking or learning a foreign language. This chaos is supposed to be fixed by following certain rules or codes. In English, this chaos is resolved by studying phonemes, allophones and their distinctive and non-distinctive features. Assessment of tooth movement efficiency during classical orthodontic and clear align therapy

    Get PDF
The process of orthodontic tooth movement is initiated by applying forces to the teeth via particular appliances that orthodontists carefully choose, place, and activate based on the identified malocclusion. The response of the teeth and their supporting tissues to these forces involves a complex biological reaction, resulting in the movement of the teeth through the surrounding structures. Conventional orthodontic treatment utilizing fixed appliances facilitates tooth movement to treat different kinds of malocclusion by employing fixed components on the surfaces of teeth, including orthodontic bands, brackets, archwires, ligatures, and abutments. The popularity of aligners in orthodontic treatment has notably increased in recent years, especially among older individuals primary because of their aesthetic advantages, comfort, and the ease of maintaining oral hygiene compared to conventional fixed braces. Regarding the importance of this issue from a clinical perspective, and because this issue is underpinned by scientific literature, we have set the following aim for this study- to compare the movement of the crown and root of the tooth between the two studied groups (traditional braces therapy and aligner therapy) after a predetermined time frame from the beginning of treatment. To achieve the defined objectives, a clinical trial was conducted at the private dental office "ALJBI ORTODENT" in Tetovo. Total number of 360 teeth from 30 subjects suffering from primary crowding malocclusion were included in this study. The study population as categorized into two groups of 15 individuals each, as follows: (1)First group: 15 patients, a total of 180 teeth, from both genders, who will be treated with a fixed appliance, DentaurumRrooth 0.22. and (2) second group: 15 patients, a total of 180 teeth, of both genders, who will be treated using an aligner, Biolon 0.75.The post-treatment digital models and the final virtual treatment plan were exported from the software as STL files and subsequently imported into Geomagic Qualify® software for comparison of the final tooth positions. Variations were calculated and analyzed for statistical significance for each tooth in the mesial-distal dimensions. For F=1.700 and p>0.05 (p=0.193) there is no significant difference between the value of the mesial-distal direction of the teeth at the beginning of the study (To), one month after treatment (T1), three months after treatment (T3), treated with a fixed appliance and an aligner. Clear aligner therapy marks a notable progression in orthodontic care, providing benefits over conventional braces, including enhanced aesthetics, greater comfort, and improved oral hygiene. Research indicates that clear aligners are effective in addressing mild to moderate malocclusions, requiring fewer visits and shorter treatment times than traditional fixed appliances. Consequently, it is essential for clinicians to weigh the attributes of these two types of orthodontic devices when determining treatment options.
