Harmonization of North Macedonia’s Criminal Legislation and Constitutional Framework with EU Standards in Combating Transnational Organized Crime
The fight against transnational organized crime represents a significant challenge for the Republic of North Macedonia as it strives to align its legal framework with the standards and requirements of the European Union. As part of its efforts to achieve full EU membership, North Macedonia must demonstrate substantial progress in adopting and implementing legal measures aimed at combating organized crime, following the EU acquis.
Transnational organized crime, by its very nature, poses a complex threat that transcends national borders, necessitating a coordinated and harmonized legal response. This paper aims to analyze North Macedonia’s criminal legislation and constitutional framework concerning the prevention, investigation, and prosecution of transnational organized crime, with particular emphasis on harmonization with European Union standards. The analysis is conducted within the broader framework of the EU accession process, focusing on Chapter 23 – Justice and Fundamental Rights and Chapter 24 – Justice, Freedom, and Security. Recent developments, including the controversial amendments to the Criminal Code of 7 September 2023, the crisis within the Judicial Council, ethical dilemmas in the justice system, and concerns regarding the effectiveness of public prosecutors' offices, are critically examined.
The study will also examine the constitutional principles that underpin the fight against organized crime, including the rule of law, protection of fundamental rights, and the separation of powers. Additionally, the paper will explore how these principles are reconciled with the need for effective law enforcement and international cooperation. Ultimately, the paper seeks to identify potential gaps in the current legal framework and provide recommendations for further harmonization with EU standards, thereby enhancing North Macedonia’s capacity to combat transnational organized crime.
The study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing North Macedonia in its pursuit of EU integration, with particular regard to the alignment of its criminal legislation and constitutional framework with EU standards for combating transnational organized crime. Recommendations are provided to enhance compliance with EU requirements and promote greater institutional accountability, transparency, and professionalism within the justice and security sectors.
The methodology employed in this paper involves a doctrinal legal analysis, focusing on the relevant constitutional provisions, criminal legislation, international conventions, and reports of the European Commission, to identify potential gaps and areas for improvement.

The use of Artificial Intelligence for Creating Digital Content in the Learning Process
In the paper the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) in generating digital content for use in the learning process with focus on the course Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering are explored. Using three modern AI tools- ChatGPT, Copilot and Gemini, power point presentations are created to analyze the different approaches each tool takes in generating educational materials. The goal is to evaluate the structure, most relevant content, useful examples and the most effective visual elements for the need of electrical engineering students.
Through the research, each AI tool is used to create presentations on various topics from the course, such as fundamental electrical laws, electrical circuits, network theorems and dc transients. The presentations are compared based on several criteria: (1) information structure- how clearly and logically the content is organized; (2) quality of the content- accuracy, detail and relevance of the material; (3) examples- whenever and how the tool generates examples to explain the concepts; and (4) visibility and shareability.
The paper analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of each tool, with a particular focus on their usefulness for educators and students. Also, a discusses how AI tools can assist in improving learning by automating content creation while highlighting potential limitations will be represented. The results of this research will be valuable to the academic community, offering insights into which AI tool provides the best educational materials
Nutritional Characteristics of Iron-Biofortified Soft Wheat and Flour
Biofortification aims to make crops more nutritious as they grow rather than adding nutrients when processing them into foods.
The content of ash, wet gluten, protein, fat, and Fe concentration of Macedonian wheat variety “Radika”, treated with Fechelates fertilizers by soil, soil-foliar and foliar application were determined. In whole wheat grain samples, the content of ash was in range (2.06%-2.15%), wet gluten (33-36), and Fe concentration (49.5 mg/kg-65.9 mg/kg) were increased. Lower values in wheat grain show a percentage of fat (1.12%-1.46%) and protein content (12.25-13).
After the Fe fertilizers treatment values of all analyzed parameters in flour samples were increased.
The content was in range-ash (0.57%- 0.59%), wet gluten (34-38), fat (1.0%- 2.16%) protein(11.9-12.9), and Fe`s concentration (38.9 mg/kg-43.6 mg/kg). Agronomic biofortification with Fe-EDTA fertilizers applied in different ways has influenced and also improved the nutritional characteristics of soft wheat and flour.
These conclusions may have an important role in developing evidence of nutritional efficacy, оn absorption of nutrients from bio-fortification crops, first by using models, then by direct study in humans in controlled experiments
The influence of parafunctional forces on the longevity of ceramic crowns
This study examines the influence of parafunctional forces on the longevity of ceramic crowns, with particular emphasis on the response of different ceramic materials to varying types and intensities of parafunctional activity. A comprehensive review and critical analysis of domestic and international research were conducted, comparing reported survival rates, fracture resistance, and clinical performance of ceramic crowns under parafunctional loading conditions. By synthesizing the available data, this study aims to determine whether certain ceramic materials demonstrate superior durability, and to what extent specific parafunctional habits increase the risk of restoration failure.
Additionally, a three-dimensional finite element analysis was performed to evaluate stress distribution and deformation patterns in ceramic crowns subjected to static loading and combined loading forces. This analysis identifies exact locations of possible damages, surface degradation, and structural failure, supplemented by statistical findings from relevant studies and methodological approaches.
Results indicate that crown design, internal geometry, and material thickness significantly affect mechanical performance, while material substitution (ceramic vs. zirconia) shows limited improvement under static loading. Based on the combined evidence from the literature and finite element simulations, the study proposes key factors that influence the long-term prognosis of ceramic crowns exposed to parafunctional forces. Clinical implications and recommendations for optimizing crown design in patients with
parafunctional habits are discussed.

Fundamental breach of contract and debtor’s conduct: what’s fault got to do with it?
Although an autonomous legal institute of international contract law, the seeds of the doctrine of fundamental breach of contract may be followed to the ‘seriousness’ requirement present in comparative contract law. Notwithstanding its autonomous notion, the article examines the role of debtor’s conduct in finding a case of fundamental breach. Comparative, international and European legal rules and practice are hence analyzed by putting emphasis on the role of debtor’s conduct. In terms of current legal rules, one may certainly draw a conclusion that debtor’s conduct, especially where it amounts to a fault of a greater degree, makes the finding of a case of fundamental breach of contract more probable. Available case law demonstrates the continuous relevancy of debtor’s fault for finding that fundamental breach has occurred. Such a relevancy, in the view of the authors, is inherent to the morality of promising and cannot be bypassed by introducing a neutral concept of fundamental breach of contract. Analyzed case law shows that courts and arbitrators do consider debtor’s fault; although by omitting its express mentioning. The authors contend that debtor’s fault does and should play a role for the purposes of establishing a uniform notion of fundamental breach of contract. At the end of the day, this is an inevitable consequence of the inherent morality of contractual obligations
