    Strategi Komunikasi Dakwah Band Wali dalam Lagu Cari Berkah

    The so-called religious songs are increasingly recognized and positively responded by many, both children and adult. They then become an alternative trend in prose–lytizing, in addition to lecturing. Wali is a musical group in Indonesia that has a commitment to spread Islamic religious symbols through the lyrics of its songs. By using descriptive analysis, this article examines the song entitled Cari Berkah by the group as a strategy of proselytizing communication. The study results show that the song has delivered a positive message in accordance with Islamic law, as the group leads the listeners to become aware of the importance of helping each other.Keywords: song lyric, proselytizing strategy, wali band, des–criptive analysis.------------------------------------------------------------------------dan digemari oleh banyak kalangan, mulai dari anak-anak hingga orang tua. Melalui analisis deskriptif, artikel ini membahas lagu Cari Berkah karya Band Wali sebagai strategi komunikasi dakwah. Hasil studi menyatakan bahwa lagu Cari Berkah yang dibuat oleh Wali mewakili pesan yang positif sesuai dengan syariat Islam, karena Band Wali ingin mengajak pendengarnya untuk lebih menyadari akan arti pentingnya hidup saling tolong menolong antar sesama.Kata Kunci: syair lagu, strategi dakwah, band wali, analisis deskriptif

    Komunikasi Islam dan Etika Muja>dalah Menurut Al-Qur’an

    Propagation (da’wah) is an activity inherent within all religions. Muja>dalah is one of the methods that exist in the propagation of Islam. This article discusses the ethics of muja>dalah in da'wah according to the Qur'an. The ethics of muja>dalah can be defined as a standard value to refer in efforts to strengthen the arguments held for specific purposes. This paper argues that the propaganda with good muja>dalah method can go through a good dialogue, without any pressure on mad'u (communicants). The muja>dalah, it further argues, should use logical arguments, friendly attitude, full of compassion, and not with any violence and arrogance.Keywords: ethic of mujadalah, a-Qur'an, logical argument.---------------------------------------------------------------------------Dalam setiap agama, dakwah merupakan salah satu bagian yang mesti ada di dalamnya. Muja>dalah merupakan salah satu metode dakwah dalam Islam. Artikel ini membahas secara detil etika muja>dalah dalam berdakwah menurut konsep al-Qur’an. Etika muja>dalah disini merupakan standar nilai yang dijadikan acuan dalam usaha memperkuat pernyataan yang dipersoalkan dengan menggunakan argumentasi dan tujuan tertentu. Tulisan ini berargumentasi bahwa muja>dalah menurut al-Qur’an adalah metode dakwah dengan menggunakan dialog yang baik, tanpa tekanan terhadap mad’u (komunikan), tanpa menghina dan menjelek-jelekkan mereka. Muja>dalah harus dilakukan dengan menggunakan argumentasi logis, sikap lemah lembut, penuh kasih sayang, serta tidak dengan menggunakan kekerasan dan arogansi.Kata Kunci: etika muja>dalah, al-Qur’an, argumentasi logis

    Spiritualising New Media: The Use of Social Media for Da'wah Purposes within Indonesian Muslim Scholars

    The presence of the so-called second generation of the Internet, popularly known as web 2.0, has enabled the emergence of social media for interactive and real-time communication among societies. This study focuses on the adoption of online social media for da’wah purposes. It finds that although Muslim societies have yet to get benefits from the online social media technology, some Muslim scholars have adopted the social media to deliver da’wah activities effectively. It recommends, therefore, that the social media should be adopted by Muslims to improve the scalability of their da’wah towards societies. Moreover, da’wah strategies and paradigms needs also to be redesigned in response to new advances of technology.Keywords: online social media, adoption, uses, da’wah.-----------------------------------------------------------------------Penelitian ini membahas adopsi dan penggunaan media jejaring sosial untuk berdakwah.     Dakwah Cerdas di Era Modern

    Tremendous changes of society in practicing their religious teachings require the modifications in proselytizing techniques. This paper explains how the proselytizing is to be delivered effectively in the modern era. It suggests that there are four principles of proselytizing in the contemporary era. First, consider the proselytizing as a science and research object to meet the needs of society. Second, change the paradigm of proselytizing into Islamic communication science by synthesizing theories of communication with da’wah theories based on Islamic teachings. Third, upgrade your knowledge of preaching and your skills of imple–mentting information technology in proselytizing. Fourth, utilize a variety of popular communication media as much as possible.Keywords: paradigm of da’wah science, modern technology, social changes, Muslim cleric.--------------------------------------------------------------------------Tulisan ini berupaya menjelaskan bagaimana cara berdakwah yang cerdas di era modern, dan berpendapat bahwa ada empat hal yang bisa dilakukan dalam berdakwah di era kontemporer, yakni pertama, menjadikan dakwah sebagai objek ilmu yang dapat diteliti dan dikembangkan sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan tuntutan masyarakat. Kedua, mengubah paradigma ilmu dakwah menjadi ilmu komuni–kasi Islam dengan cara mensintesiskan teori-teori ilmu komunikasi dengan teori-teori dakwah yang bersumber dari ajaran Islam.     Dakwah di Tengah Industrialisasi Media

    This article discusses the position of proselytizing in the middle of the media industry and how this prose–lytizing should be undertaken. This paper argues that the religious contents of publication and broadcast by the mass media tend to be commodified in order to meet the needs of the society, while people use the media for entertainment purposes only. As a result, the content of religion in the media cannot be separated from the element of entertainment. Religion in the media tends to become merely the point entertainment, so that the element of proselytizing and motivation to raise religious awareness tends to be neglected. The purpose of the media as a medium of information, education, edu–tainment, and a tool of social cohesion have not been rea–lized in the current era.Keywords: proselytizing, media industry, media content, the structuration of religion.------------------------------------------------------------------------Artikel ini membahas bagaimana posisi dakwah di tengah industri media dan bagaimana dakwah harus dila–kukan. Tulisan ini berpendapat bahwa konten agama yang dimuat dan ditayangkan oleh media massa cenderung sebagai komoditi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat. Sementara masyarakat memanfaatkan media sebagai alat untuk memperoleh hiburan belaka. Alhasil, konten agama dalam media tidak dapat dilepaskan dari unsur hiburan. Agama di media menjadi materi hiburan belaka, sehingga unsur dakwah dan motivasi untuk memunculkan kesadaran beragama menjadi terabaikan.     Abstract: This article explores discussion on how the manager of Jawa Post, Surya, and Surabaya Post perceive the existence of public space in the reform era. Through in-depth interviews to the managers and editors of the newspaper, the study finds that there is a change in several aspects of how the public space is displayed in those newspapers. The changes are in the concept, format and material. The changes occurred are caused predominantly by economic considerations influenced by the impact of media industrialization. At the same time, the change occurred also causes degradation of the status and value of public space as it is no longer perceived as prestigious but in fact perceived as a “junk”.Keywords: public space, newspaper, the industrialization of media, editorial polic

    Abstract: This paper deals with Islamic feminism within the Indonesian religious moving picture Ketika Cinta Bertasbih 2 (KCB). Using semiotic approach, the study shows that the depiction of women’ lives in this film has a different way to the classical western film narrative structures which tend to explore women bodies as an object of masculine desire, as well as Indonesian religious (Islamic) films which commonly depict stereotypical portrayal of women as passive, inexpressive and dependent. Furthermore, this film can be considered as the representation of post-traditional Islam feminist, which seeks to deconstruct the ideology of the Javanese women through re-interpreting Islamic teachings in line with contemporary social realities and traditions.Keywords: religious film, woman representation, Islamic post-traditionalism, semiotic

    This paper will exlore how Islamic universities take advantages from the dynamics of the mass media that undertake the media convergence due to the demands of information technology and communications develop–ment. As a conclusion, the paper argues that Departements of Communication or Islamic Communication and Broad–cast need to pay more attention to the technical opera–tions orientation of thelearning system.     Mengembangkan Radio Komunitas Pesantren

    This article discusses the use of community radio as the base for scientific actualization along with actualization on culture and tradition of Pesantren. The author argues that the existence of Islamic boarding schools or pesantren that have positive traditions and uniqueness is without a doubt offer advantages to the development of the community radio. Different from profit-oriented radio, community radio of Pesantren that that involves community participation should offer broadcasting programs that expose activities and ideas related to Pesantren.     Meneguhkan Dakwah Melalui New Media

    The increasingly crucial role of advanced informa–tion technology, particularly the Internet, in contemporary life has contributed to changes of pattern in proselytizing activities. This article discusses proselytizing activities thro–ugh the Internet media, focusing on three principal issues, the possibility of the Internet to become a medium of pro–selytezing, proselytizing strategies of delivering messages through the Internet, and strategies for strengthening the use of the Internet in proselytizing. Through textual analysis, this article argues that, first, the agencies of proselytizing are supposed to use the Internet as a new media of prose–lytezing. Second, the making use of the Internet as a medium of proselytizing indicates that the proselytizing has given rise to a new pattern in recent development of religious trans–mission.Keywords: internet, pattern of proselytizing, proselytizing media--------------------------------------------------------------------Artikel ini membahas tentang dakwah melalui me–dia baru (new media) atau internet dengan fokus pada tiga permasalahan, yakni kemungkinan internet menjadi media dakwah, strategi penyampaian pesan dakwah melalui inter–net, dan strategi penguatan pemanfaatan internet dalam berdakwah.
