The cultural impact of Islamic mass immigration on the Italian legal system

    No full text
Although Italy is a country with a strong tradition of emigration, only in the last twenty-five years have Italians had to face new and pressing social, juridical and cultural problems related to a surge in immigration. The majority of immigrants during this period have been from areas steeped in with a Muslim majority such as Northern and Central Africa and the Middle East. The cultural encounter between the Italian Catholic tradition and the newcomers’ faith and customs has been very pronounced, and often problematic. The aim of this paper is to investigate the most relevant issues that arise from the interface between the cultural and legal aspects of Islamic culture pertaining to immigrants living in Italy with the Italian legal system. The areas considered are related to self-determination, personal integrity and family law, and were selected for their relevance to analyzing the impact of cultural differences on public policies and social behavior. The methodology used draws from both a comparative and a multidisciplinary approach

The determinants of youth unemployment: a panel data analysis of OECD countries

    No full text
The aim of this study was to determine some of the key factors affecting youth employment from 2000-2015. Youth unemployment rate (YU) was the dependent variable while consumer price index (INF), domestic gross savings (GS), labor productivity (LP) and economic growth rate (GR) were the independent variables. Data from 31 OECD countries were obtained from World Bank (WB) and OECD databases. Panel Data Analysis was used to analyze the data. The results show that growth, inflation, and savings affect youth unemployment negatively while labor productivity affects youth employment positively. It is therefore concluded that growth, inflation, savings and labor productivity are among the key determinants of youth unemployment

    A proposal for a micro-territorial well-being index: the WIT

    No full text
The well-being measurement and its key-drivers are still "opaque" issues, despite the importance in both academic and public debates (Stiglitz et al., 2009). The sheer approximation of this complex phenomenon with economic measures (such as GDP, NNP) do not allows for a full characterisation, thus requiring vast sets of indicators, to address each theme and/or synthetic index. In this paper starting from the 100% Lombardia statistical platform, we develop a synthetic measure of well-being (named WIT), for 11 clusters of cities in Lombardy, testing them with other socio-economic variables. We find that socio-economic variables react as expected in response to shocks, thus confirming the appropriateness of our approach

    Retroattive le modifiche all'art.

Pointwise and global well-posedness in set optimization: a direct approach

    No full text
The aim of this paper is to characterize some of the pointwise and global well-posedness notions available in literature for a set optimization problem completely by compactness or upper continuity of an appropriate minimal solution set maps. The characterizations of compactness of set-valued maps, lead directly to many characterizations for well-posedness. Sufficient conditions are also given for global well-posedness
