The cross-country impact of ECB policies: asymmetries in - asymmetries out?
Since its inception, the adequacy of the Eurozone to be an Optimal Currency Area has been questioned, and, along with it, the homogeneous transmission and impact of the monetary impulses across the member countries. We provide a comprehensive assessment of the transmission mechanism's functioning, its symmetry, impact on target variables, and evolution, addressing all the questions which have remained unanswered in the previous literature, while adding evidence on the impact of non-standard policy measures. We do so by adopting a Bayesian Time-Varying Parameters FAVAR model that fixes the flaws present in past research. The empirical analysis shows that the occurrence of the two crises significantly altered policy transmission, with both the interest rate and credit channel being consistently affected. It also shows that while they provided effective stimuli to the economies, the unconventional measures implemented were not able to fix those asymmetries. Policy-wise, our findings suggest that authorities must push towards consistent innovation on the fiscal side, while gaining more confidence with regards to the new monetary toolkit
Employees' expectations from the managers: the case of Italy
Despite scholars have given much attention to research on managerial behaviours, the results have not been always consistent till today, heading thus in multiple directions. Previous studies on this area have generally adopted the point of view of managers, thus partially neglecting the perspective of their employees, who are among their most important stakeholders. In the attempt to enrich this strand of literature, in this study we aim at identifying which are the managerial behaviours that bring employees to recommend their manager as someone they should work for in the future. This is done by collecting data gathered from an online survey answered by 461 Italian employees
Lecture notes in information systems and organisation
In this paper, a socio-technical perspective on the roles of Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Digital Officer (CDO) is introduced, and a model of interpretation of their respective roles, their potential interplay and idiosyncrasies is presented and discussed. We start our analysis by proposing a socio-technical model based on typologies of CIOs and IT roles, as well as CIOs and Business Visions, and CIOs and Interpersonal roles taken from the literature, and used as a lens for viewing whether and how CDOs may fit into this model, collaborate with CIOs in pursuing the IT-business alignment vision, or should necessarily clash on the same territory. This model is then used to interpret the results of two empirical analysis about the evolution of CIOs and CDOs roles in Digital Business Transformation scenarios. We carried out interviews directly to CIOs of Italian companies, and use transcripts of online interviews to CDOs of American companies. Both materials deal with the themes of Digital Business Transformation and Strategy, of CIO/CDO’s profiles, and of attitudes toward tech trends such as Big Data, Internet of Things and 3D Printing. Notwithstanding their differences, these voices helped us understand what are the possible futures and configurations of CIO and CDO roles in organizations, in a fast changing innovation scenario like the one emerging from our analysis

Dipendenza parziale con funzioni copula e applicazioni finanziarie
In this paper the partial dependence with copula function is presented. In some context, the dependence structure between two variables can be highly influenced by one or more covariates, so it is of interest to know how this dependence structure changes with the value taken by the covariates. An application is carried out to study the dependence structure among eight financial assets. After analyzing the marginal dependence structure, we condition on the market index and finally both on the level and on the volatility of the market.
Lean implementation failures: the role of organizational ambidexterity
Using a quasi-experimental research design and an abductive approach, we explore the determinants of lean implementation failure in a financial service provider. Based on quantitative and qualitative data analysis, we show that the analyzed lean implementation was unsuccessful even if undertaken in the absence of the obstacles and barriers suggested by extant lean literature. We also show that lean practices were adopted as a result of the implementation, but such adoption did not translate into operational change and performance improvements. We investigate why this happened conducting thematic analysis of 23 interviews with office managers and lean specialists and abduct that how lean implementation tasks are allocated between lean specialists and office managers (the degree of structural versus contextual ambidexterity built in the implementation process) led to failure. More generally, we discover that how the lean implementation process is organized can generate variation in lean implementation outcomes, and that the conditions for lean implementation failure might be built in the lean implementation process. We develop a testable research proposition that contributes to lean implementation literature, draw some theoretical and managerial implications and suggest directions for future research
Born in Germany as a strategic initiative, the label "Industry 4.0" has now spread globally, assuming the characteristics that recall a fourth industrial revolution, able to improve working conditions and the quality of the processes, as well as the productivity of companies. The relevant literature highlights how, within a broader process of digital transformation, the implementation of new enabling technologies is radically changing the organizational structure, the innovation process and the way the business model is working. In order to cope with this technological wave, a combination of new skills, such as leadership, individual identity, interpersonal relating and technical skill, is required for the implementation of Industry 4.0 as these skills are becoming critical success factors in innovative digital-driven businesses. Through a careful analysis of the relevant scientific literature, this paper aims at advancing a conceptual framework to map the set of key skills (also named Skills 4.0) that businesses should develop within the Industry 4.0 paradigm. Moreover, this framework is aimed to help businesses develop farsighted human resource development policies and design-redesign organizational roles
