Impact of Foreign Direct Investment on Renewable Energy Generation: Evidence from Europe
Currently, energy production is mainly dependent on fossil fuels and nonrenewable energy. However, reducing the reliance on fossil fuels and employing renewable energy technology is essential for maintaining environmental sustainability and energy security. Despite noteworthy research on foreign financing and renewable energy consumption, few studies have discussed the relationship between foreign direct investment (FDI) and renewable energy generation (REG) that enables such consumption. Thus, this study fills this gap in the literature by applying the generalized method of moments/dynamic panel data (GMM/DPD) estimation technique to determine the impact of FDI on REG in European economies from 2010 to 2022. Based on the results, FDI has a significant and negative impact on REG. The implication of the findings is that policymakers should decide on suitable incentive programs, such as feed-in tariffs, electricity purchase agreements, and renewable project tax credits, in order to redirect FDI from nonrenewable energy sources to the renewable energy sector
New radiocarbon dates from the Bronze Age Tiszafüred-Majoroshalom site (Eastern Hungary)
In this paper we present new AMS radiocarbon dates from the Bronze Age cemetery of Tiszafüred-Majoroshalom excavated between 1961 and 1972. The cemetery provides crucial information on the cultural development and chronology of the Bronze Age Otomani-Füzesabony and the Tumulus cultures of Eastern Central Europe, in addition to the transition between the Middle and Late Bronze Age (approx. 1500 BC) in the Great Hungarian Plain
Clinical Trial: Dose-Finding Study of Linaprazan Glurate, A Novel Potassium-Competitive Acid Blocker, Versus Lansoprazole for the Treatment of Erosive Oesophagitis
Linaprazan glurate, a potassium-competitive acid blocker, is in development for the treatment of erosive oesophagitis and other acid-related diseases.To evaluate the 4-week healing rate and safety of four linaprazan glurate dosing regimens in patients with erosive oesophagitis.This double-blind, dose-finding study compared linaprazan glurate to lansoprazole. We included patients with endoscopically confirmed erosive oesophagitis (validated by a central review board) if they had Los Angeles (LA) grade C/D or LA grade A/B with partial response to at least 8 weeks of proton pump inhibitor therapy. Patients were randomised to 4 weeks of linaprazan glurate (25, 50, 75 or 100 mg twice daily) or lansoprazole (30 mg once daily), followed by 4 weeks of open-label lansoprazole.Of 248 patients randomised, central review confirmed erosive oesophagitis in 182 at screening endoscopy. Across all doses, linaprazan glurate achieved a 4-week healing rate of 71.1% in intention-to-treat (ITT) analysis and 80.9% in per protocol (PP) analysis. In comparison, lansoprazole achieved healing rates of 60.6% (ITT) and 59.1% (PPS). The best performing linaprazan glurate dosing group outperformed lansoprazole by 28% in patients with LA grade A/B with partial PPI response and by more than 50% in patients with LA grade C/D.Linaprazan glurate demonstrated high 4-week healing rates compared to lansoprazole, with a good safety profile, supporting its further development.ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT05055128; EudraCT: 2020-003319-91
Morphology studies on craters created by femtosecond laser irradiation in UDMA polymer targets embedded with plasmonic gold nanorods
The effect of embedded plasmonic gold nanoparticles on the crater morphology was studied in 160 µm-thick UDMA–TEGDMA copolymer films irradiated by femtosecond single pulses of a Ti:Sa laser. The plasmonic absorption of the embedded gold nanorods had a resonance at the wavelength of the laser. It was observed that by increasing the laser intensity the diameter of the craters decreased, while the depth of the craters increased. In addition, the crater depths were significantly higher in the presence of gold nanorods. A threshold intensity of 1.5·10 17 W/cm 2 has been determined, above which a doubled roughness and sevenfold increased crater volume was observed in the polymer containing gold nanorods
