    Teachers' assessment literacy: A descriptive literature review

    This study aims to synthesize teachers' assessment literacy (AL) reviews of past studies to find how AL is conceptualized, measured, and developed and formulate recommendations for further empirical studies. As AL is important for teachers to contribute to teaching and learning improvement, a growing body of teacher AL research has been established in the literature. The present study identifies, assesses, synthesizes, and describes the characteristics of reviews on AL from 2014 to 2023. The results show that studies used different terms and definitions for AL. Researchers apply different forms of instruments to measure AL in various aspects of assessment. AL is influenced by mediating factors, including assessment conceptions and efficacy. It can be effectively developed through training workshops, assessment courses, and teachers' self-reflection on assessment practices. The review suggests that further AL studies are needed among in- and pre-service teachers at different levels and contexts and directional relationships between assessment-related constructs that encompass AL

    Community pharmacists’ role in optimising antibiotic use: The HAPPY PATIENT project to improve dispensing practices in five EU countries

    Community pharmacies can play a pivotal role in optimising the use of antibiotics through their dispensing practice.To evaluate the impact of a multifaceted intervention on community pharmacies' quality of antibiotic dispensing.A prospective before-after study conducted according to the Audit Project Odense methodology in community pharmacies in France, Greece, Lithuania, Poland, and Spain. Pharmacy staff audited dispensing practices through a self-registry form before and after a multifaceted intervention, comprising feedback to participants on dispensing practice, communication training, and providing educational materials for patients. Dispensing of all oral antibiotics for five days in February 2022 and after interventions in February 2023 was registered. Data were analysed by country and overall using ten quality indicators, with Chi-square tests and Students' t-tests applied.A total of 91 pharmacists registered 5.054 dispenses. There was an 18 % (p < 0.001) improvement in the mean number of safety checks performed and a 17 % (p < 0.001) reduction in the number of dispenses for which no safety checks were performed after the intervention. Pharmacists provided 17 % (p < 0.001) more advice to patients and reduced the dispenses for which no advice was provided by 35 % (p = 0.006). This came with a 44 % (p < 0.001) increase in inappropriate advice that was provided. Large differences between the countries were observed. For performing safety checks, a 13 % (p = 0.004) worsening was seen in Greece and a 72 % (p=<0.001) improvement in Spain. In France, treatment duration and dose were discussed with patients in 97 % and 98 % of the dispenses at baseline, respectively, without improvements after the intervention. In Spain, this was 66 % and 51 % at baseline, significantly improving to 80 % and 64 % after the intervention.Quality of antibiotic dispensing increased significantly, indicating that intervention is a promising strategy to improve antibiotic use, especially in countries with lower practice standards

    Modulating Band Offset through Interface Engineering of Cu2SnSe3-Based Heterojunctions for Efficient Charge Separation and Collection

    Cu₂SnSe₃ (CTSe) shows promise due to its wide solar absorption and tunable band gap, though low efficiency caused by interface recombination and crystallinity issues remains a challenge. In this study, a systematic and facile synthesis method for CTSe nanoparticles (NPs) is demonstrated, accompanied by an in‐depth analysis of their growth mechanisms. A comprehensive experimental and theoretical investigation is conducted to explore the structural, compositional, optoelectronic, and band alignment properties of p‐type CTSe NPs as a solar absorber, along with n‐type CdSe and ZnSe NPs as buffer layers. Additionally, the band edge positions of the synthesized NPs are estimated using cyclic voltammetry (CV), UV photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS), and density functional theory (DFT), enabling the modulation of band offsets through interface engineering. The investigation revealed a staggered type‐II band alignment at the CTSe/CdSe heterojunction, characterized by a minimal conduction band offset (CBO) of 0.06 eV. The findings from CV and UPS measurement supported by density functional theory‐based calculations, suggests effective charge carrier separation and transport at the interface. The CTSe/CdSe heterojunction exhibited Schottky I–V characteristics, demonstrating a current of 1 mA in dark conditions. These findings demonstrate CTSe NPs' potential as an efficient absorber in thin‐film solar cells, addressing interface recombination losses and improving performance

    Longitudinal Systolic Excursion of the Mitral Annular Plane and Left Ventricular Rotational Mechanics Are Associated in Healthy Adults—Three-Dimensional Speckle-Tracking Echocardiography-Derived Insights from the MAGYAR-Healthy Study

    Introduction: The rotational mechanics of the left ventricle (LV) play a significant role in maintaining systemic circulation. In clinical practice, three-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography (3DSTE) is one of the first methods to be used that is suitable for routine, non-invasive investigations, even in healthy individuals, allowing the conduction of extensive but easily feasible tests. In routine clinical practice, mitral annular plane systolic excursion (MAPSE) is used as an easy-to-implement parameter to judge the systolic longitudinal function of the LV; its prognostic significance is also clarified. The relationship between 3DSTE-derived LV rotational mechanics and MAPSE determined by M-mode echocardiography has never been assessed. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate it extensively in healthy adults. Methods: The present study consisted of 108 healthy adult volunteers (mean age 28.1 ± 6.3 years, 50 men). Complete two-dimensional Doppler echocardiography with MAPSE measurements and 3DSTE-derived assessment of LV rotational parameters were performed in all cases. Results: Both the apical and basal LV rotations and the consequential LV twist showed trends toward increase, with increasing MAPSE resulting in the LV twist being largest when the MAPSE was largest. While reduced basal LV rotation was associated with reduced MAPSE, a further increase in MAPSE with increasing basal LV rotation could not be demonstrated. With an increase in apical LV rotation, a trend toward an increase in MAPSE was seen, and was largest when the apical LV rotation was largest. No correlations could be demonstrated between MAPSE and basal LV rotation and apical LV rotation. Conclusions: Associations between LV longitudinal shortening, represented by MAPSE, and LV rotational mechanics could be demonstrated in healthy adults. These findings could have implications for assessing LV function in early disease states
