Procons omega-3: the key to fighting inflammation and preventing muscle loss in sarcopenic patients
Sarcopenia, an age-related progressive loss of muscle mass and function, is a significant public health concern that increases the risk of frailty, falls, and disability among older adults. Inflammation plays a crucial role in accelerating muscle degradation, making anti-inflammatory interventions essential in managing sarcopenia. This study employs a qualitative approach through literature review and library research to explore the potential of omega-3 fatty acids as a therapeutic strategy for preventing muscle loss and mitigating inflammation in sarcopenic patients. Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), particularly eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), exhibit potent anti-inflammatory properties that regulate cytokine production and muscle protein synthesis pathways. Existing studies indicate that omega-3 supplementation can enhance muscle protein anabolism, reduce systemic inflammation, and improve physical function in older adults at risk of sarcopenia. Moreover, omega-3 fatty acids modulate key inflammatory markers such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), which are linked to muscle degradation. Through an in-depth analysis of scientific literature, this study highlights the potential benefits of omega-3 supplementation as a non-pharmacological intervention for sarcopenia. However, further clinical trials are needed to determine the optimal dosage, duration, and long-term effects of omega-3 on muscle preservation. The findings of this study contribute to the growing body of research advocating for dietary interventions as a preventive strategy against age-related muscle loss and chronic inflammation
Testing a JD-R based SEM model of person–organization fit, person–job fit, and perceived organizational support toward employee performance: the mediating role of engagement in jakarta’s banking sector
This study aims to analyze the influence of Person-Organization Fit (P-O Fit), Person-Job Fit (P-J Fit), and Perceived Organizational Support (POS) on employee performance, as well as to evaluate the mediating role of job satisfaction among permanent employees in the banking sector in Jakarta. The research uses a quantitative explanatory approach with a survey method, involving 300 bank employees in Jakarta as respondents. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with 5,000 bootstrap resampling. The results show that POS has both a direct and indirect significant effect on employee performance through job satisfaction. P-O Fit directly affects performance but does not significantly influence job satisfaction. Conversely, P-J Fit significantly affects job satisfaction but does not have a direct impact on performance. Job satisfaction is proven to be a significant mediator in the relationships between P-J Fit and POS with performance. These findings highlight the importance of organizational support and job fit in enhancing employee satisfaction and performance. The practical implication of this study suggests that human resource strategies in the banking sector should focus on increasing job satisfaction through alignment and organizational support approaches as a strategic effort to improve employee performance
An internet-delivered vak learning style assessment: development, validation, and implications for educational practice in Indonesia
Learning Style VAK Inventory for Junior High School students in Indonesia, addressing the need for culturally relevant, technology-driven assessments. Existing learning style inventories often lack adaptation to specific educational contexts, and there is a growing demand for accessible, internet-based evaluation tools. This study seeks to fill this gap by examining the inventory’s construct validity, reliability, and effectiveness in classifying students’ learning preferences. The inventory, consisting of 15 items measuring visual, auditory, and tactile learning styles, was tested on a sample of 1,400 students using online data collection. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was conducted to assess the factor structure, yielding good model fit indices (CFI = 0.946, RMSEA = 0.024, SRMR = 0.027), supporting the inventory’s validity. However, internal consistency was moderate (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.580), highlighting the need for further refinement. Item discrimination indices ranged from 0.132 to 0.328, suggesting revisions for clarity and relevance. Descriptive findings indicated that tactile learners scored slightly higher (Mean = 21.187) than visual (Mean = 20.872) and auditory learners (Mean = 19.119), reflecting individual differences in learning preferences. While the study confirms the instrument’s structural validity, limitations include moderate reliability and potential biases due to online administration. Future research should focus on improving reliability, refining weak items, and ensuring broader population representation. The findings suggest that this inventory could assist educators in tailoring instructional strategies to students' learning preferences, supporting adaptive curriculum planning and personalized learning approaches in digital education settings
