A Understanding career calling: historical roots and practical relevance for school counselors
This article critically examines the origins and evolution of the term "career calling" and its relevance for school counselors. Tracing its roots from Ancient Greece to modern times, the concept of career calling has shifted from a spiritual vocation to a broader, secularized understanding, yet remains deeply tied to prosocial motivation and meaningful work. Employing the Critical Interpretive Synthesis approach, this study systematically and interpretatively analyzes the historical and social evolution of 'career calling.' By integrating comprehensive literature reviews from databases such as JSTOR, PubMed, ERIC, and Google Scholar, the methodology facilitates a nuanced exploration of how the concept has transformed, focusing on its impact on the professional role of school counselors. The evolution of the term "calling" from its traditional religious roots to a more secular interpretation highlights the broadening scope of the concept in modern contexts, reflecting shifts in Western cultural norms and values. This transformation underscores the ongoing debate among scholars about the definition of calling, with some advocating for a return to its historical, prosocial origins and others embracing its contemporary relevance to individual fulfillment and professional identity. The insights gained from this study not only expand school counselors' understanding of the profound implications of career calling, enhancing their perception of professional identity, but also provide a foundational basis for the development of instruments specifically tailored for measuring career calling among school counselors. Furthermore, these insights are instrumental in designing effective career calling development interventions, enabling school counselors to better support students in aligning their educational paths with their life's purposes
Application service quality aplikasi maxim berpengaruh terhadap satisfaction, stickiness dan usage intentions pengguna
Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui kontribusi application service quality (interaction quality, environment quality, dan outcome quality) Aplikasi Maxim terhadap satisfaction, stickiness dan usage intentions pengguna. Metode penelitiannya kuantitatif dengan desain survei cross-sectional. Sampel berjumlah 60 orang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling yaitu pengguna Aplikasi Maxim followers Instagram Maxim. Teknik analisis data menggunakan regresi linier berganda, regresi linear sederhana, dan uji Sobel. Hasil penelitian interaction quality Aplikasi Maxim berkontribusi pada satisfaction. Aplikasi dianggap mudah digunakan, respon cepat, efisien, transparansi, informasi jelas, layanan konsisten, interaksi menyenangkan, dan menangani keluhan dengan baik. Environment quality Aplikasi Maxim berkontribusi pada satisfaction. Aplikasi dianggap memiliki desain aplikasi menarik dan user friendly, kinerja cepat, melindungi data pribadi, vitur relevan dan ramah kepada semua pengguna, serta berfungsi dengan baik. Outcome quality Aplikasi Maxim berkontribusi pada satisfaction. Aplikasi dianggap akurat, driver ramah, kondisi kendaraan baik, layanan andal, harga sesuai layanan, dan tanggap atas masalah dan keluhan. Satisfaction pengguna Aplikasi Maxim berkontribusi pada stickiness. Stickiness pengguna Aplikasi Maxim berkontribusi pada usage intentions. Stickiness berpengaruh signifikan dalam memediasi hubungan satisfaction dengan usage intentions. Pengelolaan informasi melalui aplikasi harus jelas, lengkap, sesuai kebutuhan, mampu memecahkan masalah, relevan, mudah dan cepat dalam pengoperasiannya, sehingga mampu membangun kepuasan, kesetiaan dan keinginan untuk terus menggunakan layanan. Rekomendasi yang dapat disampaikan bagi peneliti selanjutnya adalah mengkaji variabel lain yang mungkin berkontribusi besar terhadap efektifitas pengelolaan aplikasi yaitu kemampuan dalam mengatasi stabilitas, keterbatasan jaringan driver, kesulitan penentuan lokasi, tampilan maps yang menyulitkan pengguna. Rekomendasi untuk praktisi di masa depan adalah terus berinovasi dalam pengelolaan informasi melalui aplikasi sesuai dengan perkembangan tekonologi terbaru
Ego state counseling to increase gender awareness in LGBT adolescents
This study aims to test the effectiveness of the ego state counseling model in increasing gender awareness in gay adolescents, focusing on aspects of masculinity, femininity, and gender neutrality. This study used a single case study design with an ABA approach. The subject of the study was a 12th grade high school student in Tasikmalaya who was identified as part of the LGBT group and showed feminine behavior. The ego state counseling intervention was carried out for 5 sessions, with a duration of 45-60 minutes per session. The measuring instruments used were the Bem Sex Role Inventory (BSRI) to measure gender awareness and the Mental Health Continuum-Short Form (MHC-SF) to measure the dimensions of mental well-being. The results showed that the ego state counseling intervention was effective in increasing gender awareness in the subjects. There was a significant increase in the masculine score (d = 1.84) and a significant decrease in the feminine score (d = 3.55). The dimensions of mental well-being also showed a significant increase, especially in social well-being (d = 2.45). This study contributes to guidance and counseling services by demonstrating the potential of ego state counseling as an effective intervention to increase gender awareness and mental health in gay adolescents. These findings may assist counselors in developing more specific and targeted intervention strategies to help gay adolescent construct healthier gender identities and achieve better mental well-being
Observing the use of technology for students' independent work on online learning assignments
This research aims to determine students' responses to online learning, the level of student independence in carrying out online learning assignments, differences in the level of independence of students in Fashion, Culinary, and Tourism study programs, the difficulties faced by students when participating in the online learning process and carrying out learning assignments, and Efforts to find solutions when experiencing difficulties following the online learning process. Conducted at SMK N 4 Yogyakarta, this quantitative descriptive research found that student responses to this research were in the medium category at 71.25% (114 students) with an average score of 18.71. Meanwhile, the level of independence in online assignments is in the high category at 78.13% (125 students), with an average score of 62.00. Not only that, there is a difference in independence in carrying out students' online learning assignments in the Fashion and Catering study program, there is no difference in independence between students in the Food and Tourism study program, and there is no difference in independence between students in the Fashion and Tourism study program. On the other hand, the difficulty in online learning assignments in the medium category was 63.75% (102 students) with an average score of 41.03. Lastly, students' efforts when experiencing difficulties were in the high category at 99.37% (159 students), with an average score of 46.37
Menelusuri gejala depresi dalam ranah digital: analisis status whatsapp di kalangan mahasiswa
Depresi merupakan kondisi umum yang sering kali tidak terdiagnosis di kalangan mahasiswa. Status WhatsApp di jejaring sosial di kalangan mahasiswa dapat menampilkan indikasi depresi yang mereka alami. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengungkapan status WhatsApp mahasiswa yang memenuhi kriteria Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) untuk gejala depresi atau episode depresi mayor (EDM). Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain studi observasional lintas-seksional untuk mengamati pengungkapan gejala depresi dan pola penggunaan WhatsApp pada mahasiswa di Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu. Data dikumpulkan dari pembaruan status WhatsApp yang tersedia publik dalam grup-grup mahasiswa antara 1 Mei 2023 dan 1 Mei 2024. Status WhatsApp yang dievaluasi adalah yang diunggah oleh mahasiswa tahun ketiga dan keempat studi mereka. Analisis regresi binomial negatif digunakan untuk memodelkan hubungan antara pengungkapan depresi dan demografi atau karakteristik penggunaan WhatsApp di kalangan mahasiswa. Sebanyak 150 status dievaluasi, dengan pemilik status terdiri dari 43,5% perempuan dan usia rata-rata 20 tahun. Secara keseluruhan, 31,3% status menampilkan gejala depresi dan 2,5% memenuhi kriteria untuk EDM. Mahasiswa umumnya menunjukkan gejala yang konsisten dengan depresi melalui status WhatsApp. Oleh karena itu, WhatsApp dapat menjadi salah satu jalur inovatif untuk melawan stigma seputar kondisi kesehatan mental, atau untuk mengidentifikasi mahasiswa yang berisiko mengalami depresi
Folklore-based storytelling: counseling techniques to develop happiness in children
The purpose of this study was to increase the level of children's happiness using Folklore-Based Storytelling, which develops ideogenous values in the implementation of counseling interventions. Happiness is defined as a state of joy and peace free from all problems. Storytelling is an extraordinary ability in storytelling that functions to entertain children's life values. The use of the folklore approach is based on the fact that almost all ages like stories that are told orally. The research method used is a mixed method approach with a sequential exploratory design. Qualitative design using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) explores how individuals understand their personal and social world through a detailed examination of their lives's experiences. The quantitative research design used is a single subject. The results of the qualitative analysis concluded that happiness according to the subject refers to the state of acceptance, attention, imagination, dreams, hopes, feelings of security, feelings of being loved, recognition, praise, appreciation, self-involvement, being heard. While the results of the feasibility test technique showed that the PND test results showed 5 points above the horizontal line PND is from 5 points of the intervention phase. This shows that the storytelling technique is very effective in developing children's happiness. Storytelling with a folklore approach is believed to be able to bring out happiness in children
Kajian pendidikan karakter dimasa pandemi covid-19 studi kasus pada sekolah berasrama
Pembelajaran selama pandemic hanya dilakukan dengan daring, sehingga ini menjadi tantangan SMA Taruna Nusantara dalam proses melaksanakan pendididkan karakter. Disisi lain pendidikan karakter yang diterapkan secara daring akan memberikan kesempatan bagi peserta didik dalam mengaktualisasukan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter di lingkungan keluarga dan masyarakat dalam upaya keikutsertaan pencegahan dan penanggulangan pandemic covid-19 dengan memberi contoh pola hidup sehat dan peserta didik dapat menjadi contoh duta protokol kesehatan dilingkungan tempat tinggal siswa pada situasi pandemi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan pendidikan karakter bagi siswa saat melakukan pembelajaran secara daring di tengah kondisi pandemi Covid-19. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus dan bersifat deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi. Keseluruhan data yang terkumpul akan dianalisis secara kualitatif. Hasil Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran daring dimasa pandemic covid-19 memang perlu kreatifitas, apalagi jika berkaitan dengan pendidikan karakter perlu adanya sinergi antara pamong-siswa-orangtua supaya pendidikan karakter tercapai, sehingga dapat menjadi bekal untuk siswa dalam menapaki cita-cita dan masa depan. Kesuksesan seseorang tidak hanya ditentukan seberapa tinggi pendidikan dan nilai akademik yang dicapai, tetapi kesuksesan seseorang ditentukan juga oleh karakter (attitude) yang baik
Dynamics of hardiness personality on Indonesian muslim online celebrities
Celebrities are figures who actively share entertainment content in society with a large number of followers and they are popular or well-known known to many people. The main objective of this research is to determine the dynamics of hardiness personality on Indonesian Muslim online celebrities. This research uses a qualitative approach, the subjects work as celebrities/have an active Indonesian Instagram and YouTube accounts, have a minimum of 1000 followers, live in Indonesia, have been in the entertainment sector for at least 1 year. The interview method is using CRQ-TQ-IQ-II algorithmic model, which are consisted of: Central Research Question, Theory Question, Interview Question, and Interview Intervention. Research conclusions, The hardiness personality evolves, fostering a desire for visibility, creativity, attractiveness, and celebrity-like active behavior. Supporting factors in Muslim celebrities include a wish for visibility, widespread recognition demonstrated through various means, fueled by pride and joy in entertaining and benefiting others. Inhibiting factors, like exclusion, fear of rejection, sensitivity to criticism, challenges, condemnation, or negative social media comments, minimally affect their personality growth, showcasing their adeptness at navigating and evolving in line with individual dynamics
CIP: an alternative career guidance model to improve self-understanding and work understanding for deaf students
The Cognitive Information Processing (CIP) career guidance model is an approach that emphasizes the reconstruction of the mind to achieve self-understanding and understanding of work. This research examines the CIP career guidance model to improve self-understanding and work understanding in deaf students. This research uses a single-subject design with a pretest-posttest on 12 deaf students in Indonesia. Data collection uses the self-understanding and work understanding Instrument developed by researchers, intervention workbooks, observation instruments, and interviews. Data analysis of this study using non-parametric statistics with the Wilcoxon Test. The results showed that CIP, a career guidance model for deaf students, can improve the knowledge and skills of self-understanding and work understanding. Thus, CIP can be used as a career guidance model for deaf students to improve their self-understanding and work understanding
Kinerja guru bimbingan konseling dan implikasi penerapan sistem poin pelanggaran terhadap kedisiplinan siswa
Kompetensi guru bimbingan konseling memiliki pengaruh terhadap kedisiplinan siswa dan menghambat efektivitas layanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tentang pelaksanaan layanan bimbingan konseling dan pemberian poin pelanggaran serta persepsi siswa dalam disiplin. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah kualitatif, dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik triangulasi dan dianalisis dengan metode penelitian Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa 1) kinerja guru BK belum optimal, namun inisiatif dengan membentuk Tim Konselor Terpadu menunjukkan upaya adaptasi meski terhambat oleh keterbatasan fasilitas dan kendala administratif; 2) Sistem poin pelanggaran di MTsN Luwu, sebagai inovasi pendidikan, bertujuan meningkatkan kedisiplinan siswa meski menghadapi tantangan administratif dan perlunya keterlibatan aktif seluruh stakeholder untuk efektivitas penerapannya; dan 3) Siswa MTsN Luwu merasa tekanan dari sanksi disiplin namun mengakui efektivitasnya dalam meningkatkan perilaku, meskipun adanya persepsi ketidak-konsistenan penerapan aturan oleh beberapa guru. Penelitian di MTsN Luwu mengungkapkan kebutuhan peningkatan sumber daya bagi guru BK agar layanan bimbingan dan konseling lebih efektif. Sistem poin pelanggaran perlu dievaluasi agar diterima tanpa menimbulkan tekanan berlebih dan diterapkan dengan konsisten. Keterlibatan stakeholder dan evaluasi rutin penting untuk memastikan efektivitas sistem disiplin dan program bimbingan
