Pengaruh Pendekatan Pembelajaran Konstruktivisme dan Self-Efficacy Siswa terhadap Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis Siswa
This study concerned on the influence of constructivism and student self-efficacy approach to mathematical communication. The ability of mathematical communication and self-efficacy of student-controlled students is very important for students. This research sought to examine (1) the influence of learning approach of constructivism to mathematical communicative ability, (2) the influence of student self-efficacy toward student's mathematical communication ability, (3) influence of constructivism and student self-efficacy approach to students' mathematical communication ability. This is a quantitative research employing the pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design, the population in this study is all Year 7 students of junior high school. Data collection was done by student mathematical communication skills test and student self-efficacy attitude scale. This study found that the use of constructivism and self-efficacy approach significantly influence students' mathematical communication skills and there is no interaction between students mathematical communication skills and self-efficacy using the constructivism learning approach
Efektivitas Model Pembelajaran IMPROVE Ditinjau dari Kemampuan Adversity Quotient
This research aimed to examine the effectiveness of IMPROVE learning model in the learning of mathematics in terms of adversity quotient ability of Grade 8 students in one of the public junior high school in Yogyakarta. This type of research was a quasi-experiment by using the Nonequivalent Posts-Only Control Group Design. The variables in this study included the independent variables of IMPROVE learning model and adversity quotient ability; and the dependent variable was student learning outcomes. The population in this research were all Grade 8 classes in one of the public junior high school in Yogyakarta. The sampling was done by purposive sampling system and selected one class was chosen as an experimental class and another class as a control class. The instrument used in this research was posttest and a questionnaire of adversity quotient that has been tested. The classification of students adversity quotient is Climber, Champer, and Quitter. The results of this study showed that IMPROVE learning model was more effective than direct learning model, in terms of adversity quotient ability of grade 8 students in one of the public junior high school in Yogyakarta. This research contributes to the development of studies on aspects that make the IMPROVE method more effective on adversity quotient ability
Profil Keakuratan Komunikasi Matematis Mahasiswa Calon Guru Ditinjau dari Perbedaan Jender
Mathematical communication is the process of delivering ideas/thoughts mathematics both written and orally. Due to convey the idea of pure mathematics can not be delivered orally without writing, the oral mathematical communication in this research is the class presentation of mathematical communication is conveyed through speech or writing related to the speech. The purpose of this study was to determine the accuracy of mathematical communication profile student teachers in solving mathematical problems in terms of gender differences and differences in mathematical ability. Based on the analysis of data it can be concluded in oral mathematical communication, male students convey information more accurately than female students
Profil Pemahaman Konseptual Mahasiswa Calon Guru Matematika tentang Grup Ditinjau dari Kemampuan Matematika
Many students have not mastered the concept of group theory well. Hence, the researcher intended to describe the conceptual understanding of group theory based on the students mathematical abilities. The implementation of this research begun with the students studied about Group Theory classically. Next, to examine the mathematical abilities of students, the researcher administered the questionnaire to obtain the data about the GPA (Grade Point Average) of students. Then, the researcher chose the participants of this study based on the high, middle, and low GPA. The selected research subjects were then given test questions that had been validated by the experts. Data was analyzed using the indicators of conceptual understanding, namely: (1) explaining or restate the group concept, (2) providing an example and a nonexample, (3) using group concept to solve the problem. The results showed that the students with high mathematical abilities reached three indicators of conceptual understanding perfectly. Students with medium mathematical abilities reached two indicators of conceptual understanding but it was not perfect, she did not write the answer completely. In addition, students with low mathematical abilities could not do the test at all, he could not write the group correctly. He did not reach any indicators of conceptual understanding, thus, it can be concluded that the students with low mathematical abilities did not understand the concept well
Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis dan Disposisi Matematis Siswa
The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of critical thinking skills and students mathematical dispositions, as well as the interaction between learning factors and grouping of students to the critical thinking skills and the improvement of student mathematical dispositions. This study is an experimental study with a quantitative approach that describes an increase in critical thinking skills and dispositions of students overall mathematical and grouping students. The population inthis study were students of SMP Negeri 3 Peusangan, where in the sample is a class VIII student as much as 2 classes with 47 students enrolled. The sampling technique is done by simple random sampling design with pretest-posttest control group. Based on the results of the study concluded that the improvement of students critical thinking skills mathematical significantly higher in grade PBM than conventional class as a whole with a value of t = 4.373. However, the grouping of students simply an increase in the high group and medle group only, namely the value of t = 4.064 and t = 2,554. The study also concluded that there was an interaction between learning factors and grouping of students to the mathematical ability of students to think critically. In addition, the results of a study of students mathematical dispositions that get higher problem-based learning than students who received conventional teaching overall with a value of t= 4.214. While the grouping of students is only an increase in the high group with a value of t = 2.428 and the low group with a value of t = 3.439. But in the process of interaction, there is no interaction between factors of learning and grouping of student to an increase students mathematical dispositions
Kecerdasan Logis Matematis Siswa melalui Model Pembelajaran Berbasis Proyek di SMA
This research aimed is to describe students' logical-mathematical intelligence through project-based learning. This study was descriptive qualitative research. Participants in this research are students of class XI school in Meulaboh for one class that is class XI-1. The data is students answer that was obtained from the logical-mathematical intelligence test. The data collected by using multiple intelligence tests and student answers results obtained from the task of logical-mathematical intelligence during the project-based learning process. The results show that in general logical-mathematical intelligence during project-based learning each group meets a minimum of four out of five aspects of logical-mathematical intelligence. Thus, the logical-mathematical intelligence of students developing after the implementation of the project-based learning
Kemampuan Koneksi Matematis Siswa Ditinjau dari Kemampuan Awal dan Gender
This research aimed to examine students mathematical connection ability based on previous ability and gender. The instruments of the study were the researcher as the main instrument, the test of prior knowledge, the test of connection ability, interview and documentation. The triangulation technique was used for the data (test, observation, interview, and documentation). The subject of this research were six students representing each category of the previous ability. Three indicators of mathematical connection ability used in this research, namely: connections between mathematical topics, connections with the science other than mathematics, and connection with life. The results showed that 1) high-ability male subject had high levels of mathematical connection ability on indicators of connection with life, 2) high-ability female subject had high level of mathematical connection ability on indicators of connection with the science other than mathematics, 3) medium-ability male subject had high levels of mathematical connection ability on indicators between topics mathematics, 4) medium-ability female subject had high levels of mathematical connection ability on indicators between topics mathematics, 5) low-ability male subject had high levels of mathematical connection ability on indicators between topics mathematics, 6) low-ability female subject had high levels of mathematical connection ability on indicators between topics mathematics
Efektivitas Penggunaan Modul Berbasis Differentiated Instruction untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemahaman Konsep Matematika Mahasiswa
Teaching material is an essential component of learning. Teaching materials for Calculus courses, especially for the Department of Informatics, remains limited and orients towards a collection of materials and questions that cannot overcome the differences in student characteristics. Therefore, in the form of learning modules that can accommodate variations in student characteristics is a crucial need in teaching material. In this study, the learning module based differentiated instruction was compiled by taking into account the different characteristics of student ability levels. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Calculus learning by using learning modules based on differentiated instruction to students' conceptual understanding of the material of qualities and inequalities of absolute value. This research was experimental research and the subjects were the Informatics Engineering students of the University of Darussalam Gontor, enrolled in the first semester in the academic year 2018-2019. The research instrument was tests of conceptual understanding consisting of short-answer problems given at the beginning and the end of learning. The design of this study used One-Group Pretest-Postest Design and data analysis involved a Wilcoxon test due to the small number of subjects (25 people). The results of the analysis showed that the use of the learning modules based on differentiated instruction effectively enhanced the mathematical conceptual understanding of students
Kemampuan Representasi Matematis Siswa Kelas VIII SMP Ditinjau dari Gaya Kognitif Visualizer dan Verbalizer
Mathematical representation skill is students' ability to express mathematical ideas (such as problems, statements, and definitions) in various ways to solve problems through multiple representations, such as images, words, tables, and symbols mathematics. Students are struggling in representing mathematical ideas. It hampers them in determining the solution of mathematical problems. They are careless in reading the word problems, lacking problem analysis, less thorough, and struggling to connect concepts. The subjects of this study were in two students from one of the junior high school in Jambi. The instruments used for this research were VVQ, Mathematical Representation Ability Test and interviews. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. The results showed that the representation abilities of students with visualizer and verbalizer style were quite good. However, each subject had a different way of solving problems. Visualizers were more interested in questions with image information in solving the problem. Verbalizer tended to prefer information with detailed wording
A Multigroup Invariance Analysis and Gender Difference of Students Self-efficacy and Attitude Concerning Mathematics
This article aimed to examine multigroup invariance of Mathematics Self-efficacy and Attitude Scales (MSAS) and examine the differences of MSAS in term of gender. 1135 (630 female and 505 male) Year 9 students in Aceh, Indonesia were involved in the study. The invariance analysis was performed to investigate whether the items in the MSAS are behaving identically for Year 9 female and male students in the province of Aceh, Indonesia. The results reported the indication of multigroup equivalence of the MSAS between gender (p-value is not statistically significant orCFI0.01). An independent t-test indentified that students attitude concerning mathematics is significantly different between gender of students. Female students positive attitude concerning mathematics is higher compared to male students. This study may be used as one of the evidences as for the needs to enhance male students attitude toward mathematics
