    KEANEKARAGAMAN JENIS KUPU-KUPU DI BEBERAPA TIPE HABITAT DI PONDOK AMBUNG TAMAN NASIONAL TANJUNG PUTING KALIMANTAN TENGAH

    The study carried out  to identify species diversity of butterflies in several typesof habitats in Pondok Ambung, Tanjung Puting National Park Central Kalimantan.The study especically to determine species richness, species diversity, evenness, similarity and  correlation between habitat characteristics and species diversity of butterflies.  The study were done in eigth types of habitat - lowland forest, swamp forest, peat swamp forest, kerangas (dry-land habitat), grassland, burnt forest, Camp Ambung and nursery camp. One transect along 500 m for every habitat types with sweeping and trapping methods were used to collect and identified of butterflies species. Rambutan and watermelon were used as trap bait.  The result showed that  a total of 76 butterflies species were identified   including  five family i.e. Papilionidae (11 species), Pieridae (6 species), Nymphalidae (43 species), Lycaenidae (14 species), and Hesperiidae (2 species). The number of species were different in every habitat types, there are lowland forest 33 species, swamp forest 24 species, peat swamp forest 13 species, kerangas (dry-land habitat) 20 species, grassland 11 species, burnt forest 27 species, Camp Ambung 37 species, and nursery camp 32 species. Result of the study also showed that there were different index of species richness, diversities and similarities of butterflies species in every habitat type, and the correlation between habitat condition and butterflies species diversities especially related to temperature and relative humidity, open area, water source, and vegetation as food plant, shelter, and cover for butterflies.                                                                                                            Keywords :  butterflies, polinator, species diversity, habitat types,  trap bait,  national park

    Softshell turtle (Amyda cartilaginea Boddaert, 1770) is categorized as Appendix II CITES and vulnerable in IUCN Red List Data Book. Captive breeding of this turtle is important to continue their sustainable utilization. PT Ekanindya Karsa was one of the pioneers in captive breeding of this species since 2008. Until now, reference related to management and maintenance techniques of softshell turtle in captivity are few. This research aims to analyse feeding preferences in juveniles. The results will assist wildlife conservation efforts and improve captive breeding effort for the future. Research was carried out at PT. Ekanindya Karsa from July to October 2012. Fifteen juveniles were given food for 9 weeks comprises of tuna, shrimp, spinach and sweet potatoes with cafeteria methods. Based on the number of food intake and cost efficiency, prefereed food was sweet potato and tuna. Feeding activities were visible in the morning (7.00 – 10.00 am) and evening (7.00 – 10.00 pm) with ad libitum sampling methods. During experiment, all growth parameter (curve carapacea length, curve carapacea width and body mass) increased constantly.Keywords: food preference, growth, juvenile, PT.     Borneo orangutan is endangered primate species due to the declining of its population in the wild. Its existence required conservation effort, through the exi-situ conservation. Captive management and adaptation in the ex-site effort has to be considered. The objectives of this research was to study captive breeding management and evaluating response of orangutans in Animal Park CikembulanGarut West Java. The research was conducted on March 10-30, 2014. Data of captive breeding management has done by observation such as interview to the worker and literatures study. Orangutan response was observed through an experiment in which the experiment in which different color drees (black, red, blue, and yellow). Orangutan response to color dreeswas assessed bymeasuring the distanceto the observer\u27s response orangutans.The parametersmeasured werepresence or absenceof orangutansactivity responsetotreatment.Orangutan gave positive response to theobserver using red drees. Cage management wasnot ideal, due to lack of quarantine cage and cage enrichment. However, feeding management was considered ideal despite the lack of feed weighing.     Collaboration of conservation must be a way in sustainable tourism development. The research aimed to evaluate the factual condition of collaboration of conservation and to formulate the strategies to improve the capacities of collaboration of conservation in Ciwidey tourism area. Analysis of conservation, sustainable tourism and collaboration objective aspects were conducted by distributing quetionnaire and interview the stakeholder. The data were analyzed by score mapping, gap and modified SWOT analysis. The result show that factual condition of collaboration of conservation in three location which are Kawah Putih, TWA Cimanggu and Situ Patenggang were valued fair to passable. The strategies to improve capacities of collaboration of conservation in Ciwidey tourism area are divided in three levels: 1) system level: to make policy which regulate the formation of an institution, for example a forum of conservation and ecotourism which include all stakeholders; and to build an integrated tourism transportation system and public facilities; 2) organization level: to include conservation and sustainable tourism aspects in the organization planning and programs in accordance to their authority and main tasks; 3) individual level: to improve the knowledge and skill of conservation and sustainable tourism for everyone who get involved in tourism activity by way of counseling and training.   Keyword: Ciwidey tourism area, Collaboration, Conservation, Strategy, Sustainable tourism

    PEMODELAN SPASIAL KESESUAIAN HABITAT ELANG JAWA (Nisaetus bartelsi Stresemann, 1924) DI TAMAN NASIONAL GUNUNG HALIMUN-SALAK

    Javan hawk-eagle (Nisaetus bartelsi) is an endemic raptor species which has limited distribution area in Java Island. Their existence is threatened (endangered) due to their small population, habitat degradation as well as fragmentation. Gunung Halimun Salak National Park (GHSNP) is known for having the highest population of javan hawk-eagle. We conducted habitat suitability modeling of javan hawk-eagle in the GHSNP using principal component analysis (PCA) scoring method with 10 habitat variables, i.e.: altitude, slope, aspect, forest canopy density (FCD), temperature, rainfall, river distribution, road distribution, settlement distribution and population density. The results of this study showed that from total study area, 94,43% of high suitable habitat for javan hawk-eagle contained in GHSNP area. It means that the GHSNP is very important area for the existence and the conservation of the javan hawk-eagle population.The highly suitable class of javan hawk-eagle habitat is distributed on the areas with an average value for each habitat variable as follows: 68,96±11,18% (for FCD), 3.883,05±299,61 mm/year (rainfall), 19,93±1,72 ºC (temperature), 1.136,05±271,46 masl (altitude), 2.207,69±1.445,86 m (distance from road), 2.727,51±1.554,61 m (distance from settlement) and 3.829,08±1.504,37 individual (population density). The habitat suitability model resulted from this research can be used as a reference in identifying priority areas for better habitat management of javan hawk-eagle in the GHSNP. Keywords: Gunung Halimun Salak National Park, habitat suitability, Javan Eagle-hawk, spatial model

    This study describes the vocal repertoire of forest litter frog Leptobrachium hasseltii from Situgunung Resort, Mount Gede Pangrango National Park. Two types of calls were identified: advertisement call and aggressive call. Each types were represented by two different characteristics thus four types of calls were examined. The kruskall and wallis test was used to test the difference of nine features. Pearson’s correlation test also used to determine the relationship of all call features to air temperature and body size. Dominant frequency of all call types was relatively similar. Advertisement calls type I was emitted in short duration and fewer notes than advertisement call type II. Aggressive call type I and have longer call duration compared to both of advertisement call. However the introductory note of aggressive call type II was more longer than the others. Aggressive call of L. hasseltii tended to be discrete (territorial and encounter) and represented two different continuums. This were caused by the extreme differences of both calls in duration and distance between males when emitting calls. Dominan frequencies of all call types inverse correlated with body size of frogs. Most of temporal features of advertisement call type II correlated with body size and only call duration were longer with increasingly air temperature. Interpulse-interval and pulse period were more longer by increasing the body size, while the introductory note, pulse rate and pulse repetition rate were becoming shortened and it could predict male body size to facilitated competition between males, thus serves as mate selection indicator. Key words: advertisement call, agressif call, Leptobrachium hasseltii, Situgunung resort, social interactio

    Javan gibbon (Hylobates moloch Audebert 1797) is an endemic primate of Java Island, living only in West and Central Java. IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) puts it in the list of endangered species. This studi aims at understanding the population of javan gibbon in Gunung Halimun Salak National Park. This research have been done in Gunung Halimun Salak National Park’s Corridor. It employs the line transect method. This study result 9 groups and 28 individuaals of javan gibbon in Gunung Halimun Salak Corridor. The average group density for javan gibbon for the Halimun Salak National Park Corridor was 0,01-0,03 groups/km2, and population density was 0,04-0,09 individuals/km2.The distribution of groups javan gibbon in Sukagalih, Cilodor, GH, Cisarua, Ciherang, and Cipicung but not detection javan gibbon group in Cipanas.     Model Spasial Kesesuaian Habitat dari Macaca Nigra

    The remaining habitat of Black Crested Macaques in Sulawesi is limited only in conservation areas, and therefore it is an urgent need to map its habitat suitability model. This work can be achieved by application of Geographic Information System (GIS). Data observation was conducted in Tangkoko Nature Reserve and Batuputih Nature Recreation Park from July to September 2009. The model was then extrapolated to Tangkoko Nature Reserve, Duasudara Nature Reserve, Batuputih Natural Recreation Park, and Batuangus Nature Recreation Park. Modelling of Black Crested Macaque’s habitat was conducted by spatial identification of their encounter points toward habitat and disturbance factors. Habitat suitability model of Black Crested Macaque was Y = (2.399xFcroad) + (2.399xFcriver) + (2.399xFcNDVI) + (2.399xFcelevation) + (1.142 xFcbuilding) + (0.957xFcslope). Cumulative score was divided into threeclasses namely high suitability habitat, medium suitability habitat, and low suitability habitat. Tangkoko Nature Reserve has highest rate of high suitability habitat whereas Duasudara Nature Reserve has lowest rate of high suitability habitat. Tangkoko Nature Reserve forms the best suitable habitat for Black Crested Macaque whereas both Duasudara Nature Reserve and Batuangus Nature Recreation Park are the least suitable habitat for species. Keywords: model, habitat, Black Crested Macaque

    The utilization of plants for fulfill food requirement and healing are the oldest medicinal in the world. Every culture in the world has specific traditional medicine system and in every region has found many plants that can be used as food and medicine. The objective of this research is to study of diversity and utilization food plant and medicine by the people of Palutungan District, Cisantana Village. This research implemented on January until June 2014. Results of the study showed that the number of food plant species used by the Dusun Palutungan was 46 kinds and 56 species for medicinal plants.     Regions Oil Palm Estate Management Unit Sungai Terik, Nusa Lestari Ltd is largely secondary forest. Land cover conditions have degraded because of existing timber companies operating in this region from 1990. The inventory and identification of wildlife species diversity in the plantation done to be able to know the types that still exist in this area of oil palm companies. From the observation found 32 species of mammals which belong to 14 families, 170 species of birds belonging to the 42 families and 9 species of reptiles. Local protected areas that border the river is one important area for the protection and preservation of endangered species / protected.
