IDENTIFIKASI KINERJA DAN KESENJANGAN STAKEHOLDER DALAM PELESTARIAN ELANG JAWA [Spizaetus bartelsi]
This approach is quite different from existing conservation actions, which are site based and fragmented. Research was conducted since December 2009 until February 2010 in Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park (GGPNP), Telaga Warna Nature Reserve and its surrounding forested areas. The objectives of this study were to: 1) identify relevant stakeholders in Javan Hawk-eagle conservation, 2) identify regulation related to Javan Hawk-eagle conservation, 3) analyze stakeholder performance related to Javan Hawk-eagle conservation, 4) analyze the gaps in Javan Hawk-eagle conservation (gap in normative performance and implemented performance, gap between groups of stakeholders within protected areas and outside area, and gap performance among stakeholders within protected areas, and 5) identify factors causing the gaps. Primary data were collected using indepth interview and field observation. Stakeholders were identified through snowball method. Secondary data were collected through reference study. Data analysis were conducted using spatial analysis, stakeholder identification and analysis, content analysis and gap analysis. Research results recognized two conservation management approaches: 1) species level, and 2) habitat level. These approaches would effectively conserve the existing fragmented and less protected forest blocks as well as boost the participation and synergism of many stakeholders. Further, by using this approach, a gap in conservation management among local conservation agencies would also be discussed for the benefit of the Javan Hawk-eagle’s conservation in particular and for biodiversity in general. ANALISIS ALOKASI ANGGARAN DALAM PENGELOLAAN TAMAN NASIONAL WAY KAMBAS
Way Kambas National Park (TNWK) is one of conservation area which has high potential of diversity and ecotourism. Several arrangements applied to accomplish goal of TNWK management. One important thing that must be considered in development is money management. Purpose of this research are to analyze budgeting mechanism, score realization of activity and budget in TNWK management, and also analyze the effectivity of budgeting system in TNWK. Result showed that TNWK got the most money resource from government.. Mechanism budgeting in TNWK dominated by TNWK central office, section and resort had not yet taken important role in mechanism. Base on Likert Scoring, TNWK management almost suit according to good management principal. Activities and budget which implement could solve several problems in TNWK, but it’s still have not enough to optimize the management. Most of TNWK budget was used for technical support. The proportion of the budget had an impact to the limited budget allocation for the basic activities in achieving effectiveness management and accomplish goal of TNWK. Based on conservation value, most of the budget was allocated to the protection and preservation aspect. KARAKTERISTIK HABITAT, POLA SEBARAN DAN PERILAKU MUSANG MENTAWAI (Paradoxurus lignicolor Miller 1903) DI AREA SIBERUT CONSERVATION PROGRAM, PULAU SIBERUT, KEPULAUAN MENTAWAI, SUMATERA BARAT
Mentawai palm civet (Paradoxurus lignicolor) is endemic to Mentawai Islands and one of its stronghold population is Siberut Island. This study was conducted in Siberut Conservation Programme Forest Area from May to August 2007. The objectives of this study were to reveal habitat characteristics, population size, distribution pattern, and feeding behaviour of Mentawai palm civet. A total of 125 plant species recorded in the study area, 21 species of which were identified as food plants for the Mentawai palm civet. The dominant plant species in the Mentawai palm civet habitat were gutgut (Coccoseras borneensis), alosit (Baccaurea parviflora), and sibeumunte (Syzygium cf. palembanicum). The civet was mainly observed at 4 - 20 m above of the forest floor, which was the C stratum of the forest canopy. Six individuals of Mentawai palm civet were directly encountered during the study and the estimated population density was 6.5 individuals/km 2. The distribution pattern of the civet was clumped, yet the animals were solitary when foraging and other of their daily activities. The civets were frequently observed eating fruits of bu’bu’ lonjong (Palaquium sp.), bu’bu’ bulat (Baccaurea sp.), tumu (Buchanania arborescens), angglu (Rhapidopora sylvestris), langkap (Arenga obtusifolia), lambo (Ficus sp.), papaya (Carica papaya), and banana (Musa sp.). Mentawai palm civets were observed foraging and feeding during day and night times, suggesting that the civet were both diurnal and nocturnal animal. Keywords: Mentawai palm civet, habitat characteristics, distribution pattern, feeding behaviour
KESADARAN LINGKUNGAN DI KALANGAN SANTRI TERHADAP PEMBANGUNAN BERKELANJUTAN
This study aims to identify the level of awareness of the concept of sustainable development among middle high school students at three Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). The survey was conducted with 514 respondents (level XI) from Pesantren Daar El Qolam (Tangerang), Pesantren Al Musaddadiyah (Garut) dan Pesantren Buntet (Cirebon). Dependent variables were the level of environmental awareness of the concept of sustainable development and practices: i.e. Sustainability practices awareness and behavioral and attitudinal awareness, environmental education and Islamic environmentalism. Independent variables were the three types of pesantrens above. The research instrument used was the questionnaire, using a Likert scale. The method of analyzing data was descriptive, Spearman Correlation and one-way Anova, using SPSS software ver. 11.0. Research outcomes showed that all the students from the three pesantren institutions indicated that they have a moderate level of sustainable development awareness (mean=3.86; sd=0.86). They also believe Islam teaches about environment -- Islamic environmentalism –giving guidance on good practice toward the environment (90.38%). Unfortunately their environmental theory gained from schools was not related to their daily attitude, which in turn related to their behavioral awareness (ρ=0.024). They rarely practice in the level of sustainability practice awareness (52%), and behavioral attitude and awareness (62%). But emotionally they have a high concern to the environmental problems (89%). The One-Way Anova showed there were differences between the three institutions in teaching about the environment, Islamic environmentalism and behavioral attitude awareness, but there were no differences between sustainability practice awareness and emotional awareness. Keyword: environmental awareness, sustainable development, Islamic environmentalism, sustainability practice, behavioral and attitude awareness
HUBUNGAN ANTARA INDEKS LUAS DAUN DENGAN IKLIM MIKRO DAN INDEKS KENYAMANAN
Air temperature and temperature humidity index in the urban was recorded as being higher compared to the surrounding area, while on the contrary the humidity is lower. Lower air temperature, increased air humidity and reduced temperature humidity index could be achieved through the development of green open space area which considered aesthetical aspect and used plants with high leaf area index. Statistical analysis showed that the increasing Leaf Area Index had caused the decrease of air temperature and the increase of humidity. These conditions reduced the value of Temperature Humidity Index and increased human comfort. Keywords: temperature, humidity, Leaf Area Index, Temperature Humidity Index, green open space.
KELAYAKAN HUTAN RAKYAT DALAM SKEMA PERDAGANGAN KARBON : KAWASAN HUTAN RAKYAT KAMPUNG CALOBAK, DESA TAMANSARI, KECAMATAN TAMANSARI, KABUPATEN BOGOR, PROPINSI JAWA BARAT
The rate of Indonesian forest destruction caused by deforestation and forest degradation contribute greatly to climate change and global warming. Development of Community Forest could be potential in carbon sequestration and then go into Carbon Trading Scheme. Initiative to get the incentives for the management of Community Forests through carbon trading in the voluntary carbon market is a concrete step to participate in the adaptation and mitigation of climate change and gain maximum benefit from the ecosystem of the forest resources. Thus, based on the guidelines of LEI certification decision, the Calobak community forest management get the title of "DO NOT PASS". The assessment resulted that the community forest in Calobak under the Plan Vivo Standards only able to meet the four indicators of the 37 indicators or data that should be available. ANALISIS PENATAAN RUANG KAWASAN LINDUNG KABUPATEN PANDEGLANG DENGAN APLIKASI GIS DAN REMOTE SENSING
The need for space is increasing along with the growth of population. It had become one of the matters which caused exploitation of natural resources and abuse of space uses. Protected area provided life support system, but in fact it had been degraded and experienced function changes. Pandeglang as one of areas with high natural resources potential had also encountered environmental problems. Geographic information system (GIS) could provide the latest data and help in to reach decision of space policy to push the protection area management. The research was carried out on September until November 2009 with the purpose to: (1) identify the legal formal protected area based on the Presidential Decree Number 32 year 1990 about protected area management; (2) identify the gap of legal formal and actual protected areas, and the abuse of protected areas spatial pattern, and; (3) formulate strategy and policy direction in supporting the management of legal formal protected areas. The data was collected through thematic maps, remote sensing and direct observation. Data analysis was based on the results of overlay analysis and the percentage of deviation (summary) analysis. The result showed that the actual protected areas, based on the distribution of forest function (DFH), in Pandeglang Regency were Ujung Kulon National Park (TNUK), Carita Nature Recreation Park (TWA) and protected forest, while the actual protected areas based on spatial area allocation in spatial area arrangement plan (RTRW) in Pandeglang Regency were TNUK and protected forest. The gap between the legal formal protected area with the actual protected area was 99,957.20 Ha (35.55%). All protected areas were dominated by forest in different coverage. There were inconsistency of planning steps and spatial pattern abuse of protected areas. Management of the legal formal protected areas could be supported through the assignment of an institution with authority/mandate and responsibility in the management of legal formal protected areas, particularly toward natural disaster prone areas and local protected areas. The RTRW document should be reviewed to provide actual data, the use of similar format of data reference, and reach a consistent spatial arrangement. PERILAKU BERKUBANG BADAK JAWA [Rhinoceros sondaicus] DI TAMAN NASIONAL UJUNG KULON
As one of the very rare and critically endangered species, Javan rhinoceros currently has a population of around 40-50 heads and can only be found in Ujung Kulon National Park. However, these numbers are still questionable due to the lack of description provided by the existing methods in estimating the entire population of Javan rhinoceros in the Ujung Kulon peninsula. The Javan rhinoceros timid nature, high alertness, and tendency to avoid direct contact with human and other wildlife are the factors that complicate the estimation of population. These factors make the Javan rhinoceros difficult to find and to track. One method that can be used is the video trap data analysis method. The objective of this research was to obtain information on the time and duration of Javan rhinoceros wallowing activities, the patterns and mechanisms of Javan rhinoceros wallowing activities, and the types of activity of Javan rhinoceros during wallowing. Keywords : Javan rhinoceros, wallowing behavio
