Determinant factors of technical succesfull on captive breeding of yellow-crested cockatoo – (Cacatua sulphurea sulphurea)
Technically, key indators of bird captive breeding successfullness are marked by successful of reproduction, low rate of mortality and well growing and development offspring in captivity. There are many technical factors of captivity that are allegedly to be determinant of birds captive breeding successfulness. Based on these reason, the study was aimed to: (1) analyize and synthesize the technical aspects of yellow-crested cockatoo captive breeding that are applied in several captivity sites, and (2) analyze the technical factors as determinant of the yellow-crested cockatoo captive breeding successfulness. The study was conducted in March-May 2015 in five bird captive breeding sites in Bogor, Bandung and Jakarta. Data was collected through field observations by following bird maintenance activities in captivity and interviews, then collected data were analyzed by qualitative descriptive. Technical factors determinant analysis was carried out using the PCA (Principle Component Analysis) method. The results showed that from the five captive breeding sites, two units (40%) were classified as successful birds captive breeding sites, two units (40%) were classified as unsuccessful namely successfully laying eggs but had not hatched, and one unit (20%) was unsuccessful captive breeding (unable to lay eggs). Technically, successful captivity of the yellow-crested cockatoo minimally is maintained in a square cage with at least 1.5 x 3 x 3 m3 size, equipped with enrichment in the form of palm trees, wood of bird perch, nesting box, food and water container. Feed given in the form of grains (corn, beans, kuaci), fruits (bananas, papaya) and vegetables, as well as the additional food in the form of porridge. In general, captivity management that are applied at the sample site can be stated to be quite good and successful, marked by the success of bird breeding and no bird deaths were found. There are two determinant factors of the technical success of captivity that must receive attention, namely feed factors, health care factors and medical measures. Species and Feeding-Guild diversity of Avifauna at Gunung Pinang, Kramatwatu, Serang Regency, Banten
The objectives of this research was to determine the diversity of species and feeding-guild of avifauna at Gunung Pinang, Banten. This research was conducted in August-December 2017. Data collection was carried out using Point Counts method. Result show that there are 43 species of avifauna from 24 families, 3 species of families Accipitridae among them are migrants. The identified Avifauna was divided into 6 major feed groups i.e insectivor as many as 21 species of birds (49%), frugivor are 7 species (16%), carnivor are 6 species (14%), granivor are 5 species (11%), nectarivor are 2 species (5%) and omnivor that eat more than one type of feed as many as 2 species (5%). Diversity of avifauna at Gunung Pinang considered as high with the index value of shannon diversity is 3.44. The high diversity of avifauna at Gunung Pinang describe the ecological conditions of the ecosystem that can support avifauna as well as a habitat for playing, shelter, rest, foraging, and nesting for avifauna. Various Types of Potential Drug Plants in Muhammad Sabki Urban Forest Jambi City
The urban forest of Muhammad Sabki is one of city green open space that have many functions and potential to developed, especially plants that can be used as medicine. Medicinal plant is one of non timber forest product which is not only used by communities around the forest but also by urban communities. However, data on potentially herbal medicinal species in this urban forest have not been found. The recent research limited to the diversity of vegetation and wildlife. This research conducted for 4 months on 2017 in the area of Muhammad Sabki’s Urban Forest. A total of 50 sampling units are sized 2 m x 2 m and 5 m x 5 m, created randomly on this area consider of forest homogeneity. Based on the inventory, its found as many as 149 species of plants that have potential as a medicine. However, the analysis result obtained 50% of the total species are plants that used as medicine by the communities around world. The dominant types of plants that useful as medicine in this region are members of Rubiaceae family, 9 types (6%). The parts of plant organs that commonly used are leaves, as much as 36%. Spatial and Time Pattern Distribution of Water Birds Community at Mangrove Ecosystem of Bengawan Solo Estuary - Gresik Regency
Mangrove ecosystem in Bengawan Solo estuary is a part of the essential ecosystem and also as important and endemic birds’ areas. Aim of this study is to analysis the parameter of habitat condition, analysis the different of time and spatial pattern and provide the management strategy for water birds and habitat. Reseach was carry out at January – May, 2017 (two period observation). Methods are used i.e. concentration count, single and unit plot, point count, interview and field observation. Data analyze using chi-square, grid-line point and mark point, beak-type and vegetation analysis. There are 41 (forty one) species of water birds (23 migrant species and 17 native species). Chi-square analysis have significance difference both the time and spatial and also type of feed with chi-square values (χ2 hit.(2;0,95) > χ2 tab.(2;0,95). Migrant birds’ occupy the mudflat for feeding and resting ground, while the native birds use pond areas. Common the invertebrate species as feed for migrant like crustace and native birds are tend to feed fish and shrimp. Feeding and resting activities by migrant birds was influence by water-tidal condition. Total of water birds population are 112.100+ individual. Total of mangrove species was identified are 15 (fifteen) species, and dominant at three habitus by Avicennia alba.Keywords: Bengawan Solo Estuary, mangrove ecosystem, spatial and time, water bird
Composition, Structure and Diversity of Species Plant in Dungus Iwul Nature Reserve, Bogor District
The Dungus Iwul Nature Reserve is a conservation area that has been through a series of human and natural disturbance causing to changes in plant species composition and stand structure including its level of diversity. The purpose of this study was to investigate vegetation changes and the presence of Orania sylvicola (Griff.) H. E. Moore which has been reportedly becoming dominant in this forest area. Research was conducted during June 2017 at Dungus Iwul Nature Reserve, Bogor District. Vegetation analysis and tree profile diagram were used systematic sampling. The analyzed data were used to determine the Important Value Index (IVI), diversity index, evenness index, and richness index. Results shows that the forest stand composed of 88 plant species dominated by O. sylvicola. Stand structure performs a reserved J-shape curve which is characterized by tree class diameter concentrating in tree of 20-30 cm diameter. The majority of diversity index, evenness index and richness index values of the plant species has decreased. This condition confirm the current dynamic process of high stand composition changes which is assumed due to the dense abundance of O. sylvicola and many other supporting factors such as the presence of dispersal agent namely Cynopterus titthaecheilus(Temminck, 1825). Canopy gap due to disturbance enables bats to disperse seed of O. sylvicola, a tolerant species that has a remote tubular sprouting types (cotyledon and seed separated by tubular section) and help this plant species to grow over the pioneer species. These elements causes to the growth and spread of O. sylvicola which is later disturbed the vegetation surrounding and tended to be invasive. Implementation of ecotourism concept for sustainable tourism in Indonesia until these day unfinished task. Insight for this concept must becontinuously and never end. Television is a mass media that very influent and play a role in promoting the principles of ecotourism. One of thetelevision programs that present content the various natural destinations tourism of Indonesia is My Trip My Advanture. This research will beanalyzed the motivation and perception of ecotourism of female audience for the natural destinations tourism based on program. Women especiallyfemale students are selected as respondents because has a good bargaining position and very strategic role model in family and society. The purposeof this study analyzed the motivation and perception of ecotourism of respondents and analyzed the relationship between the characteristicsrespondents to perception, motivation, and preference. The results showed that respondents understanding the meaning of ecotourism principle.Motivation and perception of impressions are scores of six from one to seven scale ranges program. That shows MTMA program has entered thepositive space. This supports the documentary program participating respondents do acts the responsible traveling for environmental, social andcultural conservation. The concept of ecotourism can also be accepted by all walks of life from diverse backgrounds reinforced by the analysis thatdifferent levels of characteristics do not affect the level of motivation, perception, and preferences.Keywords: ecotourism, female, My Trip My Advanture, television show
The Diversity and Conservation of Piper (Piperaceae) in Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, Lampung Province
Piper (Piperaceae) is an aromatic plant genus, some species of which can also be used as ornamental plants. We have carried out plant exploration in Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (TNBBS) of Lampung Province, which is known as one of the centres of diversity for Piper species. This field exploration aimed to contribute to the inventory of Piper species in Sumatera. A purposive sampling method was employed. The work was carried out from 2011 to 2014 in four resorts of TNBBS, viz. Kubu Perahu Resort, Sukaraja Atas Resort, Pugung Tampak Resort and Sekincau Resort. The results revealed that there are 21 Piper species present in TNBBS; of which one species is a tree, six species are shrubs, and the other 14 species are climbers. All these species have been cultivated as collections in Bogor Botanic Gardens (West Jawa Province) and also in Liwa Botanic Garden (West Lampung Province), for ex-situ conservation purposes. Results of analysis of morphological characters are discussed along with information about the usage of the species. Population of Rafflesia Patma at Leuweung Cipeucang Geopark Ciletuh Sukabumi
Rafflesia is a largest flower in its species in the world. The main issues which threatened this species were cause by; the destruction of therainforest as its natural fragmentation habitat and for its land conversion moreover the lack of conservation effort and understanding from thestakeholder. This plant belongs to endemic and protect species in Indonesia. This research purpose is to analyze Rafflesia patma population andecology at Leuweung Cipeucang Geopark Ciletuh Sukabumi. Purposive sampling was used to collect data in this research by using 1.000 meter plotplotwhich involve Rafflesia patma population and ecological data. The population data covering size, shape, quantity and inflorescence phase ofRafflesia patma while the ecological data covering the plant vegetation and physical habitat. 21 individual Rafflesia patma were found at LeweungCipeucang, and at the high of 196-217 m dpl Tetrastigma papilosum were located. Rafflesia patma population consists of 13% blooming flower, 9%inanimate after blooming, 26% living knop, 52% dead knop. The Highest significant index value (INP) occur in seeding level and stake on Streblusilicifolius species from Moraceae Family with 58,5% INP value at seeding level, 28% at stake level, at the tree vegetation level occur at Ficustinctoria species from Moracea family with 37,45% INP value. Potentials Folklore to The Development of Ecotourims in Mappi Region, Papua Province
Generally, all the society’s elements in Mappi Region recognize the existence of folklor which is rich with the value of life philosophy. Data analysis method used was one score one criteria scoring system which was followed by using SWOT analysis as the basic consideration in statingoptimization strategy of the eco-cultural tourism development. The result of the study revealed that various potential of folklore with material andimmaterial heritage had good meanings and reasonable to be fostered in all aspects of tourism development. The high motivation of the society alsoindicated the great enthusiasm of eco-cultural tourism development in mappi region. It was different in terms of preference and participation in whichscore was far from the optimum value. This indicated the local society’s low knowledge of the importance of culture and folklore utilization asecotourism resources. Therefore, the integration of stakeholders to optimize various development of eco-cultural tourism is needed in order to createmultiplier effect. The strategy of eco-cultural tourism development in mappi region which needs to be done is by optimizing perspective of regionaldevelopment, perspective of social culture, perspective of marketing and perspective of activities and ecotourism program.Keywords: ecotourism, mappi folklor, one score one criteria scoring system, Papu
Study of Land Cover Change in the Mangrove Ecosystem of the East Coast of Surabaya
The East Coast of Surabaya (Pamurbaya) is a coastal area in Surabaya City that has mangrove ecosystem and it has been designated as a protected area based on Surabaya District Regulation No. 12 of 2014. However, the existence of mangrove in the area is threatened by land use changes. This research aims to investigate the changes of mangrove distribution, extent and canopy density in Pamurbaya. Unsupervised classification and determination of NDVI values are used to discover changes in mangrove ecosystems in the period of 2000 and 2015. The results of this research showeds that mangrove spreading pattern in the period of 2000 until 2015 has shift towards the sea as it is pressed by the development of Surabaya City that leads to the east (coast). In general, the mangrove ecosystem in Pamurbaya over a period of 15 years has increased by 67 ha. The mangrove vegetation density level also increased to high density level with the value of NDVI between 0.81-1.00. Mulyorejo is a subdistrict with the greatest increase of mangrove area and density than the other 6 subdistrict in Pamurbaya. Keyword: Mangrove, NDVI, pamurbaya, unsupervised classificatio
