    The Influences of Bondol Attack Against Paddy Damage in Bogor

    Bondol bird group known as one of the pests that attack paddy. This study aims to identify the number of individuals, attack frequency, damageto paddy and control efforts of bondol groups. There were three types of bondol groups, they were 256 scaly-breasted munia (Lonchura punctulata),1.075 javan munia (L. leucogastroides) and 94 white-headed munia (L. Maja). There were 1.090 bondol recorded in Sawah Baru and 335 inCiherang. At morning became the most frequent time to bondol in attacking paddy, as many as 97 times in Sawah Baru and 37 times in Ciherang. Thenumber of damage paddy in Sawah Baru during the observation amounted 4,24%. The number of damage paddy in Ciherang during the observationamounted 4,05%. Losses suffered by farmers during the observation as much as IDR 2.500.325 million/ha in Sawah Baru and IDR 1.064.040million/ha in Ciherang. Bondol bird control effort to tackle it\u27s attack only performed in Sawah Baru, which is shaking bambo tied with plastic andshout to chase away bondol.Keywords: bondol bird, Ciherang, paddy, Sawah Bar

    Treasure of Local Wisdom in Strengthening Conservation and Ecotourism: Case Study of Dawan Indigenous People in Timor Tengah Utara District

    In the history of evolution, in fact the people of Indonesian archipelago have known local wisdom in the social life order that brings its people to be wise in managing various elements of nature. The purpose of this research were: 1) to analyze the local wisdom of Dawan community in North Central Timor District (TTU); 2) to strengthen the existence of local wisdom in ensuring the conservation and ecotourism domains. The method used in this study was phenomenology, which was then analyzed using one score one criteria scoring system. In various criteria, the data show that the local wisdom of the Dawan community in TTU District is in good condition or is in a domain of ‘still known’ and ‘still entrenched’. In strengthening the local wisdom of the Dawan indigenous people, ideas that can be considered for implementation are: firstly, conducting Integrated Stakeholders Management including government, community groups, academicians, NGOs, or private parties; secondly, strengthening indigenous institutions and enhancing the capacity of indigenous peoples; and thirdly, strengthening local wisdom through ecotourism.     Implementation Effectiveness of Water Utilization Permit Grants In Gunung Halimun Salak National Park

    Policy implementation is the most difficult stage of the entire policy cycle. The effectiveness of a policy implementation can be measured fromthe accuracy of the implementation, the target, the environment, and the process. The purpose of this research is to analyze the condition and theproblem of implementation of granting Water Utilization Permit (IPA) policy in Gunung Halimun Salak National Park (TNGHS). This research wasconducted in TNGHS area by using closed interview method (questionnaire) followed by in depth interview to key informant which is determined bypurposive sampling, context analysis, and Edward III approach. The results of the research showed that the implementation of granting IPA policy inTNGHS was quite effective because it has been implemented in the right target, environment, and mechanism. However, not all phases have beenimplemented appropriately. Problems encountered include: (a) the use of limited communication strategies, lack of clarity, and inconsistency ofmanagers, (b) limited number of competence counterpart staff and minimal administrative compliance, (c) discretion and disincentive, and (d) tomuch bureaucratic responsibility and lack of implementation guidance or IPA policy SOP. To increase the effectiveness of implementing IPA inTNGHS, some strategies can be added: (a) developing intensive communication and facilitation for Water User Forum (FPA) groups at each resort,(b) providing capacity bulding training as well as additional incentives, (c) rewarding FPAs that implement IPA effectively, and (d) establishingSOPs related to IPA policy.Keywords: effectiveness, implementation, policy

    Acceptability Model of The Use of Forest Area Policy in Bangka Belitung

    The use of forest area (UFA) policy is a forest management policy by government to accommodate the needs for mining sector in forest area.This study aims to analyze the factors that become key drivers and influence the acceptance of UFA program and also build the agent-based modelsimulation of UFA policy. The method built in this research is using Structural Equation Modelling and Agent-Based Modelling approach. Based onthe results of confirmatory factor analysis, the factors that play a role in the acceptance of the program is the understanding and participation ofstakeholders related to UFA program and the availability of land allocation to be given license to borrow forest area. In addition, based on the ABMapproach, in order to anticipate the increased deforestation rate in available forest cover, it is necessary to accelerate and increase the rate ofmining reclamation activities by license holders.Keywords: agent-based modelling, structural equation modelling, the use of forest area

    Characteristics of Javan Coucal (Centropus nigrorufus) Preferential Habitat in Wonorejo Surabaya

    Javan coucal (Centropus nigrorufus) is one of the endemic birds of Java that has limited distribution in coastal areas. This study aimed to determine the spatial distribution and habitat preference of javan coucal in Wonorejo Region, in the East Coast of Surabaya. The spatial distribution and habitat preference were analyzed using dispersion index (ID) and Jacob index respectively.  The results showed that Javan Coucal distribution was clumped, indicated by ID value > 1  for mangrove forests, inactive ponds and  active ponds. The Jacob index  (Dhi) were 0,75,  0,41 and  -0,68 for inactive ponds, mangrove forests and  active ponds, respectively. This result indicated that javan coucal preferred inactive ponds and the mangrove forests, and they tend to avoide active pond. The habitat factors affecting the javan coucal encounters were perch height (t=2,655; p=0,014), distance from coast (t=4,539; p=0,000) and air temperature (t=2,675; p=0,013).     Study of Land Cover Change using Multi Layer Perceptron and Logistic Regression Methods in Gunung Ciremai National Park

    The development of land cover change is important to understand, so that the pattern of future land cover changes can be predicted and its negative impacts can be prevented or reduced. Various modeling approaches have been widely used to analyze land cover changes. The common modeling methods used for analyzing land cover changes are Multi-layer Perceptron (MLP) and Logistic Regression (Logit). This research is designed to assess the accuracy of modeling of land cover change with MLP and Logit methods in Gunung Ciremai National Park. The result indicated that the accuracy of both methods was very good with kappa values were 0,8991 and 0,8989 for MLP and Logit respectively.     Ecotourism management in Gunung Ciremai National Park is fully managed by third party which are community organizations, state-owned enterprises, and non-governmental organizations. The aims of this research is to identify stakeholders, categorize stakeholders based on interests and influences, also to identify space and determine the level of stakeholder participation. The data obtained using questionnaire, interview, and direct observation were analyzed with stakeholder analysis matrix and the level of stakeholder participation. Fourteen stakeholders involved within the programs based on interests and influences are governmental institutions, cooperations, non-governmental organizations, and community organization with two classifications (key player and crowd). In this management there is no subject and context setter.     Macrozoobenthos as Bioindicator of River Water Quality in Ciliwung Hulu Sub Watershed

    Macrozoobenthos has a relatively sedentary nature and the very limited movement which will directly affected in the event of changes in water quality, therefore markozoobenthos often used as bio-indicators of water quality. This research was conducted form March to June 2015 in the Ciseuseupan sub watershed, Cisukabirus sub watershed and Cisuren sub watershed with the purpose of determining level of water quality and influence of land-use on the quality water by using macrozoobenthos community structure. Biological indices were used to analyze the macrozoobenthos are FBI and SIGNAL2. FBI values in the Ciseseupan sub watershed are 5,02 with criteria the quality of water moderate, in Cisukabirus sub watershed are 3,96 with criteria the quality of water very good and in Cisuren sub watershed 4,37 with criteria the quality of water good.     Bogor Botanical Garden (KRB) was a good habitat for birds. Based on KRB’s data of bird, there was an opportunity for KRB to develop birdwatching tourism. Birdwatching completed by interpretation can increase visitor awareness of the importance of conserving natural resources.The aim of research was to develop birdwatching interpretation trail. The research method were the count point method of Indices Ponctuelsd\u27Abondance (IPA) and line transect method. The interpretation trail map was developed by overlaying the bird\u27s encounter point with the KRB mapusing Arc Software GIS 10.0. The result of this research were 33 bird species that have potential for birdwatching activity.     The Impact On Recreational Trampling On Soil And Grass In Ciwidey Tourism Destination

    The monitoring some impacts of anthropogenic applied specifically to each travel site is essential for maintaining the sustainability of the tourist activity. This study examines the effect of stamping feet of visitors to compaction of soil and the change of grass visual conditions on three conditions of different use intensity in Ciwidey. This study revealed that the trampling has effect on the penetration of the soil, groundwater levels, the changes of visual condition of the grass, and water content of the grass. The higher the intensity of land use, the higher the value of soil penetration resistance but the water content of soil and grass goes to lower. Key words: trampling effect, soil, grass, Ciwide
