Food Forage Potential and Carrying Capacity of Kemampo Forest Area with Special Objectives (KHDTK) as Sambar deer (Rusa unicolor) Captive Breeding Area
This research was carried out to identification and analysis of food forage diversity, productivity and carrying capacity of Kemampo special purpose forest area in South Sumatera as sambar deer captive breeding area. Diversity food forage for sambar deer were analysis systematically by using vegetation analysis with 10 units of square plot models for each growth level of vegetation with different size. Estimation of food forage productivity were done by using 10 units of square plot models (1x1 m2) for each harvesting periode 20 days, 30 days and 40 days. Result of reseach was showed that there are 13 species of food forage has identification as sambar deer feed and five species among them were identification as urgent feed and high palatability for sambar deer, i.e Paspalum conjugatum, Imperata cylindrica, Acacia mangium, Vitex pubescens, dan Melastoma malabathricum. The avarage of food forage productivity for each harvesting periode 20 days, 30 days and 40 days were 48,40 kg/m2/day, 57,89 kg/m2/day and 62,78 kg/m2/day, with avarage value of food forage productivity was 56,66 kg/m2/day or 152.982 kg/ha/year, and 458.946 kg/3 ha/year. According to this value of food forage productivity, and by using the assumptiom of dayly food need of sambar deer about 23 kg/head/day, so the carrying capacity of Kemampo forest area were estimated about 13,968 individuals of sambar deer per 3 hectares per year or per hectare the area could retain everyday about 13 individuals of sambar deer. Conservation Status of Medicinal Plants from Papua and West Papua Province (Indonesia)
Research on Medicinal Plants and Jamu (RISTOJA) in of Papua and West Papua provinces was conducted in November-December 2012 and May 2017 using the purposive sampling and snowball method. The purpose of the review in this paper is to find out the patterns and trends in species used, and to discuss the factors that cause the vulnerability of declining plant species due to harvest pressure. In this paper, RISTOJA’s data is primary data and a review of the data is carried out by searching literature online and offline. From the results of RISTOJA in Papua and West Papua (Western New Guinea) in 2012 and 2017, there were 2929 numbers of medicinal plants, and it is estimated that from the 2929 numbers there were 983 species of medicinal plants, and from the estimated 983 species of medicinal plants there were 444 species of medicinal plants not yet identified, because most species do not have generative parts and there are 529 medicinal plants identified to species level (2.1% of the total flora of Papua and West Papua). From these data, one species of medicinal plants was included in the category of Critically Endangered (0.19%), two species of Endangered (0.38%), and four species of Vulnerable (0.76%), two species Near Threatened (0.38%), 61 species of Least Concern (11.53%), six species of Data Deficient (DD). Threatened status is more commonly found in species recorded as harvested by traditional healer not from gardens (forests and others). Thus, the continuous exploitation of harvests from the forest and the wildlife can lead to an increase in the future Red List status of some species which are at risk threatened condition. A Historical Review of Data and Information of Indonesian Mangroves Area
Quantification of the mangrove area in Indonesia was very diverse, which is quantified in the pre and post development of remote sensing technology. This causes uncertainty comprehensive information of mangrove in Indonesia. The planners at national and international level of faced with the problems of uncertainty information that has implications for the quality of data availability. Therefore, it is important to develop a comprehensive of mangrove extent and distribution database. The method used in-depth study literature on various publications related mangrove mapping in Indonesia and comparative analysis. This study aims to identify comprehensive information mangrove forests of Indonesia and analyze the factors which cause diversity of quantification area and reliability of data. We found 42 publications containing data and information on Indonesia\u27s mangrove forests area, with 17 sources including detailed information per province. The study results showed that the difference mangrove quantification area was influenced by several main factors including analysis periode, differences in the concept and mangrove boundaries, basic data and scale, method of mangrove mapping, as well as regional coverage. Mangrove Diversity in Production Forest Management Unit (FMU) Bulungan Unit VIII North Kalimantan
Mangrove ecosystem have various important roles as habitat for marine and terrestrial species. However, the ecosystem has recently faced anthropogenic threats delivered by the expansion of aquaculture pond. Study of mangrove diversity was conducted in Production FMU Bulungan Unit VIII, North Kalimantan. The study was aimed to analyze species diversity in the FMU Bulungan Unit VIII and determine community perception on existing mangrove condition. Vegetation analysis was applied to quantify mangrove community in two sampling locations, Salimbatu and Liagu, within 26 quadratic plots (10mx10m). As many as 63 respondents were interviewed to analyze communities’ perception. As the result, 10 species were identified species and one unidentified species recorded during the survey. Rhizophoraceae was dominated the species composition in sampling area. Rhizophora mucronata had the highest Importance Value Index in tree and seedling stage while Rhizophora apiculata was dominant in sapling stage. On the other hand, Bruguiera parviflora was recorded on each growth stages in all sampling plots. Species diversity index (H’) of mangrove vegetation in the FMU was found at 1,68 with species richness index value 1,58. This diversity index considered as moderate diverse since only few vegetation species are able to live in the mangal. The perpendicular structure of mangrove in the FMU formed an inverse J-shape which showed normal growth of uneven-age forest stand. The interview result implied that more than 50% of the respondent considered that mangrove condition in their village area has been disturbed. Conservation Priority Plants in Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park
Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (BBSNP) has a fairly high biodiversity, including plant species which are categorized as threatened, protected and endemic plants in Sumatra. Information regarding the existence of these plant species is not yet widely available. The purpose of this study was to reveal the existence of threatened, protected and endemic plant species in BBSNP. The research was conducted by exploration methods in three BBSNP areas, namely Kubu Prahu (West Lampung Regency), Sukaraja Atas (Tanggamus Regency) and Rata Agung (Pesisir Barat Regency). A number of target species have been obtained, including 13 threatened plant species, 6 protected plant species, and 7 endemic Sumatran plant species. In addition, three plant species have been included in CITES Appendix 2. The results of the study can be used as a reference for future flora conservation efforts. Preferential Habitat of Orange Footed Scrubfowl (Megapodius reindwardt) at Nature Tourism Park of Mount Tunak, Lombok Tengah Regency, Nusa Tenggara Barat Province
Orange Footed Scrubfowl (Megapodius reindwart Dumont 1823) is classified as protected bird based on the Preservation of Plant and Animal Species of Ministry of Enviromental and Forestry Decree No. 92/2018. As a natural park, TWA of Gunung Tunak serves as a natural conservation area (NCA) which has a basic function as a conservation area designated as a recreation area and nature tourism. Associated with its function then TWA of Gunung Tunak has an important role in supporting the conservation of wild animals especially Orange Footed Scrubfowl and the implementation of recreational activities and natural tourism in a sustainable manner. The objectives of this study were to analysis the preferential habitats of Orange Footed Scrubfowl. Based on the results of multiple linear regression analysis of stepwise method, it can be known that dominant factors to the frequency of presence of Orange Footed Scrubfowl in a selected habitat are the number of predators, the distance from water source, soil texture, and altitude of place with the equation Y = 3.390.96 + 2.28X11 + 0.00084X5 - 0.0117X10 - 0.0034X3. Based on the results of preference index analysis with Neu method, it can be seen that the preferred area of Orange Footed Scrubfowl is only in Block I (w ≥ 1) namely the forest area near Teluk Ujung Coast. Based on the place altitude, the existence of the mound of nest from the sea surface, the Orange Footed Scrubfowl prefer the area at an altitude of 0-25 m above sea level. Medicinal Ethnobotany and Potential of Medicine Plants of Anak Rawa Ethnic at The Penyengat Village Sungai Apit Siak Riau
Anak Rawa ethnic is indigenous ethnic in the Penyengat Village which is located on the edge of swamp river and forest, so their dependence and adaptation to forest resources is very high. They uses the forest to make medicine plants. The objective of this research was to identify the ethnobotanical knowledge of Anak Rawa ethnic about medicine plant and identify potential species of medicine plants. The research was conducted in March to April 2018 The potential of plant data was obtained through quantitative methods in the form of vegetation and exploration analysis. Meanwhile, the community knowledge data collected through semi-structured interviews. The research identified 194 medicinal plant species at Penyengat village in several types of habitat (forests, yards, gardens, and roadsides), with 140 medicinal plant species used by Anak Rawa ethnic. There were 54 species of medicinal plants potential in Penyengat Village. Medicine plants used by the community are grouped into 28 medicinal benefits. Analysis of Constructed Swamp Forest Vegetation as A Phitoremediation Agent in Coal Mining, South Kalimantan
Coal mining activities could potentially interfere with the environment. One of the environmental disturbances in coal mining activities is theformation of acid mine drainage (AMD). AMD management can be done passively through the construction of swamp forest. The constructed swampforest system uses organic material in the form of cow manure which serves as a growing plants’ medium. Phytoremediation is an attempt to usevplant species in the accumulation of heavy metals. This study was aimed to know the AMD management system passively and identify the diversity ofplants in artificial swamp forests. Purposive sampling method with a sample size of 2 x 2m in 10 plots/compartments was used to identify the plantdiversity in constructed swamp forest. The observation was made both before and after AMD flowed. Constructed swamp forest consist of 6compartments (2 sediment pond compartments and 4 swamp compartments). The results of the vegetation analysis found that before the AMD flowed,21 species are still capable growing naturally in constructed swamp forest, however, it became 15 after the AMD flowed. Cyperus iria, Fimbristylisgriffithii, Scirpus juncoides, Ludwigia hyssopifolia, Cyperus platystylis and Monochoria vaginalis are six dominant species that can be used asphytoremediation agent in constructed swamp forest.Keywords: Acid Mine Drainage, constructed swamp forest, phytoremediatio
Total Economic Value of Mangrove Forest in Pangkah Kulon and Pangkah Wetan Village Areas, Ujungpangkah District, Gresik Regency, East Java Province
Mangrove ecosystems have enormous benefits for the community, especially for people living on the coast. The problems in the management of mangrove forests in Pangkah Kulon and Pangkah Wetan Villages are people did not consider the importance of mangrove ecosystems in terms of economics. The purpose of this study is 1) analysis community perceptions of the mangrove ecosystem; 2) estimating the total economic value of the mangrove ecosystem in Pangkah Kulon and Pangkah Wetan Villages. Data analysis in this study used descriptive and quantitative analysis. Descriptive analysis is used to explain the activity of utilizing mangrove ecosystem resources, while quantitative analysis is used to calculate the perceptions and total economic value of mangrove ecosystems. The method of selecting respondents was purposive and snowball sampling, with a total number of respondents 60 person. Perception analysis using a Likert scale, analysis of the total economic value for the direct-use value using the price of resources used, indirect-use value using replacement costs, and option value using benefit transfers. The average perception of respondents has a value between 3.60 to 4.60, this mean that respondents agree and strongly agree to the functioning of mangrove ecosystems, both in economic, socio-cultural, ecological and physical functions, and respondents have a high dependency on mangrove resources. Analysis of the potential total economic value of the mangrove ecosystem is Rp. 97,547,237,496/year. The total economic value obtained from the direct-use value (utilization of the fisheries sector) amounted to Rp. 51,672,497,300/year, indirect-use value (abrasion restraints and sea waves) amounted to Rp. 45,161,544,004/year, and option value (biodiversity) amounted to Rp.713,196,192/year. The total economic value of the mangrove ecosystem in Pangkah Kulon and Pangkah Wetan Villages shows that the mangrove ecosystem provides great benefits for the community. Utilization of Food Plant by Sundanese Ethnic, in Nyangkewok Hamlet, Sukabumi Regency: PEMANFAATAN TUMBUHAN PANGAN OLEH ETNIK SUNDA, DI KAMPUNG NYANGKEWOK, KABUPATEN SUKABUMI
Ketahanan pangan menjadi permasalahan utama bagi manusia. Kabupaten Sukabumi merupakan salah satu daerah yang mengalami krisis pangan. Masyarakat Kampung Nyangkewok, Kabupaten Sukabumi memiliki pengetahuan lokal dalam pemanfaatan tumbuhan pangan yang dapat menjadi alternatif dalam mengatasi kerawanan pangan. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan pemanfaatan tumbuhan pangan oleh Etnik Sunda di Kampung Nyangkewok, Sukabumi. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Maret-Juni 2019 dengan metode kualitatif dan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data terdiri dari observasi lapang dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi penurunan kearifan pemanfaatan pangan lokal, pada gaya hidup generasi muda. Pengetahuan masyarakat cenderung menurun dari generasi tua ke generasi muda. Terdapat 101 jenis tumbuhan pangan yang dimanfaatkan masyarakat lokal Etnik Sunda di Kampung Nyangkewok dengan jenis famili yang mendominasi adalah Cucurbitae. Kearifan lokal yang terdapat di masyarakat Etnik Sunda yaitu upacara adat “Mitembeyan” sebagai suatu bentuk upacara persembahan pada Dewi Sri (Nyi Pohaci) yang dipercaya sebagai pemberi kesuburan hasil panen.

Sukabumi Regency is one of the regions that has been experienced a food crisis. The people of Nyangkewok Village, Sukabumi Regency have local knowledge in the use of food plants which can be an alternative in overcoming food insecurity. This research aimed to identify and describe the utilization of food plants by local knowledge of Sundanese Ethnic in Nyangkewok Hamlet, Sukabumi. The research was conducted in March-June 2019 with qualitative and qualitative methods, with data collection techniques by field observations and respondents interview. The results showed that there was a decline trend in the knowledge of using local food, in the lifestyle of the younger generation. Local knowledge tends to decrease from the older generation to the younger generation. There are 101 types of food plants that are utilized by local Sundanese people in Nyangkewok village with the dominant family type is Cucurbitae. There was a traditional ceremony which was "Mitembeyan" as a form of offering ceremony to Dewi Sri (Nyi Pohaci) who is believed to be the giver of crop fertility.
