The environmental crisis that occurred in late sourced from the mistakes of human behavior to the views and error nature exploration. The efforts made by some countries to address the environmental issues have been integrated in education. But the school still experiencing problems on the biology subject-based environmental issues. It is therefore necessary materials specifically to increase students' knowledge about the basic concepts of ecology. A Research and Development of teaching materials is based on the Borg and Gall (1983), but refers to the design of Dick and Carey (2009), involving 33 students of class XI IPA SMAN 86 Bintaro, South- Jakarta, as an experimental class and class XI IPA, SMAN 39 Cijantung East-Jakarta, as the control class. There are two biological development of teaching materials developed. There are five t-tests to verify the biological development of teaching materials based on environmental issues. Research results indicated that there is a significant difference between mean of gain score obtained from post-test and pre-test at experiment group compared to control group. Then the development of teaching materials based biology to environmental issues can be disseminated to the students' knowledge of the basic concepts of ecology. &nbsp

The purpose of this research is to know students perspective to the environmental insights related to personality and gender, on the subjects of biology. This research use method ex post facto research with ANAVA 2x2 models. The instrument used in this study is a test. A view of students to the environment that are constructed in the human mind then reflected became the basis for interacting with the environment and action to the environment. Personality is the human nature that dynamic to respond and react and interact relatively stable with other people or the environment in accordance with the underlying dimensions of personality that is conscientiousness, agreeableness, neuroticism, openness, extraversion in order to achieve personal goals. Gender is equity in the opportunity to actively participate in social programs based on gender differences factor. This means that the gender variable divide students according to gender.  Male and female student have diversity of looking at the surrounding environment so that environmental insight of students who have a high personality better than the environment insight students have low personality. Environmental insight into the male student better than woman student

The Effect of Environmental Personality and Gender On Students’ Ecological Footprint: An Ex-Post Facto Study at the State University of Jakarta

    Get PDF
Since environmental issue is often discussed, our ecosystem is getting more fragile. At the same time, basic human needs should be full filled fast by improving productivity and of course this will require natural resources. Indicator for this is exactly could be seen as to what extent human being has changed his/her consumer behavior, in term of how fast he/she utilize space available at a given ecosystem. This measurement called “ecological footprint (EF).†How students’ EF affected by environmental personality and gender is research problems of this study. An ex post facto method has been applied by involving 258 faculty of technology students (115 male and 143 female), State University of Jakarta as a sample. Environmental Personality (EP) measured based on “big-five personality†related to environmental issues such as openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and emotional stability (30 items, only 19 was valid and its reliability was .74) and EF refers to measure of water, transportation, foods, and others, utilized by students in daily life. Data have been analyzed by one-way ANOVA, F-test, t-test and chi-square. The research results reveal that there is significant difference (α = .10) of students EF between students who high, medium, and low in EP. It means that EP did affect students EF. If male and female students EP were separated, again gender did affect students EF which come up with the interpretation that gender equality was neglected in higher educational system. Moreover, it was found that EP does not affect as a single factor, but it depends on students’ gender as well because there is significant dependency between EP and students gender in determining students EF (X2-cal > X2-table). Based on those finding, it could be recommended that some factors such as students locus of control, personal responsibility, situational factors, or intention to act with other models of research could be taken into consideration. In future research, to make sure that EF might not been affected by a single factor

The objective of this research is to find out the availability of green open space (GOS) in the long run by prediction as a result of the increase of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), and to choose an appropriate scenario to fulfil the availability of GOS, through system dynamic modeling in Jakarta. The modeling of system dynamic with regard to GOS and GRDP, data collection of secondary data and primary data through interpretation of satellite image is expected to solve the problem of the availability of GOS. Based on simulation scenario, the result of the research showed that the availability of GOS became lesser year by year as a result of the increase of GRDP. In order to secure the availability of GOS accordingly with the regulatiaon of Space Management, the scenario that should be executed is the very optimistic scenario

Comparing Fishermen Quality of Life Based on Their Expectation Toward Maslow’s Hierarchical Needs Priority

This study is aimed at finding out whether fishermen quality of life would differ if their expectation toward hierarchical needs such as physiological, safety, love belonging, self esteem, and self-actualization, differ also based on they put differently as priority. A survey method used by involving 73 fishermen as a sample. Two instruments were measuring quality of life and Maslow’s Needs. Instruments reliability are high and data analysed by correlational analysis, chi square, and verify by applying F and t-test. Research results show that around 80% of fishermen put physiological needs as the most priority, but not followed by safety need. It has been followed by love belonging as second priority, then safety, self-esteem, finally self-actualization. It is also found that there is no significant differences of quality of life between fishermen expectation, whether they put needs as priority or not. It could be concluded that fishermen expectation toward their needs can not be used in analysing the effect of needs on quality of life and needs are not a good predictor as well. The surprising finding is that fishermen from this area put belonging as a second hierarchy
