Managing Risk of Ski Resorts with Snow Options
The main problem for the tourism businesses which operate in ski resorts is that their revenue are strictly connected to the cumulative snowfall level. The uncertainty about the snowfall due the climate changing has made this type of business highly risky, for this reason few or no investments are made every year to improve the resorts, the slopes or the lifts; continuing in this way, the resort in few years will face to a loss in competitiveness, thus less tourists, less revenue and less business. The present work purposes to show a possible hedging strategy against the financial problems due to the scarcity of snow: the weather derivatives.Due to the fact that in Italy there are many ski resorts situated at an altitude from 1300m to 2000m, we focus our analysis on Andalo, in Italian Alps and we obtain the estimated prices of a put snow option by applying three different methods proposed in literature. We suggest, finally, the ideal prices for Paganella lift operator in Andalo, showing how the use of weather derivatives may be very helpful in the risk management for ski resort related to snow scarcity events. The main problem for the tourism businesses which operate in ski resorts is that their revenue are strictly connected to the cumulative snowfall level. I Cammini Culturali e le Nuove Vie di Turismo Religioso. Il Progetto di Promozione Turistica "Strada Delle Abbazie. Fede Arte e Natura nella Grande Milano"
The objective of this writing is to contribute to the analysis of religious goods through a project of enhancement and protection of cultural values inherent in a territory. The project "Abbey Road" responds, in fact, the need to disseminate a cultural product through the networking of seven abbeys, belonging to monastic orders secular absolutely different, present in Milan and in the area to the South and to the south-west of the city . It was then made a tourist itinerary that from a party implements the recommendations of the Council of Europe, in the field of cultural routes, and the other connects to the theme of Expo 2015 "Feeding the planet". The project also proposes to pry on intangible components of attractiveness, deriving both from religious meanings and historic-cultural by both elements related to the sphere of the emotionality. In the last few decades, on the other hand, the changes taking place in the tourist sector have given new models of holiday, which prefer a return to nature, the rediscovery of the spirituality, the demassification of consumption, the research of the psycho-physical well, moving toward holidays experiential-type. The project "Abbey Road" prefigures then a program in which tourists can live the size of Theoros and the territory can "tell" their own places.
The European project called “PER VIAM Pilgrims’ Routes In Action”, funded by the European Commission in 2012, is a significant opportunity of cultural and economic development for the whole Europe and also for the territory of Piedmont Region. The certainty of the need for transnational cooperation, which should create a network amongst the different territories in a perspective of working together and exchange of traveling, economic and cultural experiences – as well as best practices - nowadays calls for implementation tools such as European projects supported and sought for by the local authorities. The Piedmont is nowadays crossed by various cultural itineraries, many of which are certificated by the European Council: Via Francigena, the Route of the Cistercian Abbeys, the Transromanica, the itinerary of the historical thermal cities and the Saint Michael's way. Starting from a survey on the meaning of "cultural itinerary" expressed by the different European institutions (i.e. ICOMOS, UNESCO, Council of Europe and European Commission), this essay is proposing an analysis of the current status of such territory, highlighting the public policies in progress, the role and activities of the local associations and the valorisation of implemented projects as related to those itineraries which have already been recognized by the Council of Europe. This paper presents some significant experiences and best practices in the study of religious tourism, as they have been defined on the regional territory throughout the last few years, which can contribute to the debate and to the overall awareness on management and valorization of sustainable tourism.
Landscapes of Memory and Forgetting: Memorialisation, Emotion and Tourism along Australia’s Great Ocean Road
This article explores the history of the Great Ocean Road, described in its recent National Heritage listing as “Australia’s most famous coastal drive”. The road is unique in Australia as it was purposely constructed as a scenic tourist route and as a memorial to World War I servicemen. Over time the road’s memorial function was largely forgotten in public memory, overtaken by its fame as a tourist route. The history of the road’s setting, construction, promotion and interpretation reveals that it is a route which reflects changing, and sometimes conflicting, cultural preoccupations. Despite attempts to link its sublime setting and challenges of building the road with the heroic struggles of the servicemen in war; in spite of physical commemorative markers along the road; and in spite of the power and endurance of the “Anzac legend” in Australian culture, the connection did not resonate as intended. The road’s construction and subsequent interpretation illustrate the difficulty of inscribing “memory” onto a landscape with no prior connection to the events being memorialised. Its history reveals insights into the road’s cultural construction; tangible and intangible expressions of remembering and forgetting along the road; and the relationship between the road, landscape, memory and emotion. This article explores the history of the Great Ocean Road, described in its recent National Heritage listing as “Australia’s most famous coastal drive”. Itinerari Culturali del Consiglio d’Europa: Nuovi Paradigmi per il Progetto Territoriale e per il Paesaggio
The article aims at offering a methodological contribution to the study and project of cultural routes. The cultural routes are analysed considering their nature of complex territorial systems. The potential which cultural routes may develop, if considered as cultural complex and inclusive goods, is the understanding of the interactions with the landscape at the change of socio-economic and cultural contexts crossed. In this sense, cultural routes are tools of development for a landscape project based on the endogenous resources of the territories.

Changing cultural developments along a tourist route in Bali
One of the most important routes for cultural tourism in Bali connects the seaside tourist town of Sanur to the provincial capital city of Denpasar, continues through the Sukawati Art Market, skirts the village of Mas, site of many studios and workshops, and culminates in Ubud, the historic artistic center of Bali. The city of Ubud is the epicenter of a renowned tradition of painting but it is also a community staggering under the influx of tourists arriving via this route. The roadway from Sanur to Ubud illustrates a range of different types of arts-based heritage tourism, from mass produced art for beachside tourists in Sanur to several high-end galleries in Ubud. This trajectory of towns and their varied relationships with the arts and tourism illustrate the potentials and pitfalls of arts tourism as a means of development, and this roadway highlights the challenges of crafting sustainable routes for tourists interested in the arts.
