Il Sistema Locale per lo Sviluppo Turistico-Creativo in Costiera Amalfitana
In recent years creativity has become a resource not only in relation to artistic and cultural activities but also in terms of economic growth and development of tourism enterprises and geographical regions. This has determined the diffusion of creative tourism based on principles of sustainability. However, debate on the issue – above all in Italy – is still ongoing as concerns definitions in line with scientific literature. Our research attempts to show that the foundations for the success of this kind of tourism lies in the consolidating of the local economy based on creativity in a systems logic. To this aim a case study on the Amalfi Coast area (Salerno) is presented providing a framework of the characteristics and creative potential in terms of tourism in order to highlight both the dynamics in act and the most significant elements for the construction of a creative ambience. Our study concludes however, that such a model cannot be considered merely a solution for all ills, but on the contrary, can be exploited only by territories that enjoy a creative humus. In other words, strategies put in place should exalt what is rooted in the geographical, social and cultural reality, i.e. as the potential base for the affirming of this new niche of cultural tourism. Otherwise, any initiatives undertaken risk becoming useless and a waste of resources.
Strategic Networks for Sustainable Tourism Development
This paper proposes an innovative approach towards introduction of an up-to-date sustainable development philosophy founded on the principles of combination and balance of common and individual interests on multilateral perspective, i.e. individuals vs. organizations, public groups vs. governmental authorities, industry vs. macroeconomic development, nation states vs. international regional development etc. The optimal implementation of such an approach is imminently dependent on an authentic self-awareness of own identity, values, purposes and motivation for positive contribution to the common well-being. The author’s arguments are based on the conviction that when more individuals and organizations harness deeper understanding of the mutual benefits within their operations area and undertake collaborative efforts to solve common problem their steadfast long-term development may be secured even in times of social-economic-political-eco-etc. crises and within a dynamically changing environment.Main purpose of current article is the concentration of the research on looking for and applying the principles of consistency, exchange of good collaborative practices and consequently strategic and operational utilization of the synergy effect, systems thinking and the holistic approach. Collaborative efforts would lead to greater effectiveness and optimization that satisfies individual and common interests in multiple environmental dimensions. The study aims to analyze the potential of a new network paradigm for provision of effectively applied strategies within the contemporary sustainable development context. Some good practices within the area of joint development of sustainable strategic networks in tourism industry in Bulgaria are presented. A case study of a culinary and hospitality cluster recently established in the Dobrudzha region is about to demonstrates the strategic network viability and sustainability in a contemporary agricultural geographic context. Cloud Communities e Diari di Viaggio. Rappresentazioni Virtuali di Territori Turistici
Collective construction of descriptions can radically change the image of an area. This uncontrollable process is destined to become one of the main priority research areas also in tourism studies. The spread of Web sites in which telling stories and descriptions of territories has become a significant element in the network society, and the growing use of social networks and cloud communities, often in planning tourism, contributes to social description of touristic landscapes and influence the collective imaginary. In social space, territories are the result of the superposition of different layers, from the real one to the virtual, bound to a constant exchange of information. This phenomenon that could guide tourist attraction, begins to affect the choices of local institutions and residents. The aim of the paper is to give an interpretation on the construction of collective representation, which takes place, after the journey, through the on-line publication of a diary. The research is divided into two parts. In the first, we explain some theoretical aspects related to the representation of the travel, the sharing of information in virtual form and the construction of an imaginary touristic. Subsequently, are taken into account the results obtained in previous studies related to the analysis of the narratives of tourism experiences, shared within virtual spaces freely accessible on the net. These results will be used to develop a model of interpretation on the virtual representation of tourist areas.
Low Cost Carriers and Foreign Tourism Inflows: a Cointegrated VAR Analysis for Italy
This paper seeks to quantify the impact of the expansion of LCC on foreign tourism trends in Italy. We rely on a novel data set on the seats on flights by low cost carriers between foreign destinations and each Italian airport. Cointegrated vector autoregressive models are estimated for both Italy and its main geographical areas. A single equilibrium relation is uncovered, relating the level of LCC travel supply to the dynamics of the global business cycle, of relative consumer prices and of foreign tourist expenditure. According to our structural impulse response analysis, a positive shock to LCC travel supply determines an increase in Italy both for foreign tourist expenditure and for arrivals. The estimated response for per capita expenditure is positive at national level, but negative for two of the four macro regions. These findings suggest that focusing on arrival statistics may provide a partial view of the impact of LCC supply policies. This paper seeks to quantify the impact of the expansion of LCC on foreign tourism trends in Italy. Spazi del turismo: il Progetto delle Esperienze
The aim of this article is to offer a theoretical contribution to the organisation, design and significance of tourism spaces, at a time when tourist practices are experiencing both change and intensification. From an architectural perspective, the study seeks to understand the evolutionary link between holiday practices and spaces, interpreting tourism as a context of creative relations between people, aspects, things and the places in which practices take place.Based on this interpretation, the paper defines architectural and urban categories of tourism, briefly comparing various literature on tourist organisations. In the second part, through the examination of recent examples of tourist experiences, planning actions and their ability to generate new tourism landscapes are evaluated. For both places and tourist experiences, that which emerges and the fields of application involved constitute guidelines and development tools for a form of tourism design that is more knowledgeable about the encounter between tourists and residents, and more reliable given that it is founded on the distinctive features of territories. The study demonstrates that tourism spaces, if intended as contexts of creative relations between people, aspects, things and places in which practices take place, may now develop a certain potential that once again calls into question a series of much debated opposites, tourists - residents, free time - work time, holiday space - day-to-day space, attractive resources and their transformation into elements of tourism, which had otherwise previously been consolidated by the tourist phenomenon. In the end, tourism proves itself to be an imaginative impulse, which is capable of reinventing the qualities of places and successfully orientating urban events.L’articolo intende offrire un contributo teorico sull’organizzazione, il progetto e il significato degli spazi del turismo in un momento di cambiamento e intensificazione della pratica turistica.
New Skills in a Changing World: Strategic Alliances at World Heritage Sites
The presentation aims to examine the new type of skills that heritage professionals may need to acquire in response to the changing socio-economic context of the contemporary world. It will also look into possible strategic alliances between higher education, communities and the tourism sector that could link conservation and sustainable development (especially youth employment) at World Heritage Sites. Particular attention will be given to the social threats induced by tourism at heritage sites, such as the dramatic decrease of young population, rural exodus, or the deterioration of the local social fabric, and the critical need for revitalization strategies in this regard.
