    Effect of Press Freedom on Sudanese Newspapers Framing of Corruption Issues

    This research aims at exploring the effect of the press freedom on the newspapers framing of the issue of corruption in Sudan. A qualitative method was adopted using in-depth interviews to adequately explore the perspectives of the Sudanese journalists and editors towards the press freedom effect on the Sudanese newspapers in terms of framing the issues of corruption. A purposeful sampling was employed in selecting 20 Sudanese journalists and editors across both the governmental and private newspapers. Therefore, the study has significantly contributed to the overall perspectives of how newspapers framing affects public awareness about corruption and possible remedies in Sudan. The findings revealed that the legislation is significant in developing the press industry which has a great role in addressing the issues of corruptions

    Leadership Communication Conception of Malaysian Hindus and its Relevancy to Mahathir s Leadership

    Literatures proposed that culture does influence the success of leadership communication. Mahathir was criticised to be a leader who promotes the betterment of the majority community and marginalised the Indians. Despite of that, the Indians in Malaysia showed advancement in various sectors including politics, economy and social. Therefore, this exploratory study aims to bridge the gap by investigating the attributes that link between Mahathir s leadership communication and Indian community. Qualitative methodology was utilized and data were collected through a series of intensive interviews with 15 informants consists of Indian political, non-governmental organisation and community representatives. Based on the thematic analysis, two main attributes that strongly link to Indian culture were identified: leadership communication conception (Sattva Guna) and characteristics of good leadership communication (Sattva characteristics). This study has contributed to enhance understanding of leadership communication from multi-cultural context, specifically about the Indian s cultural conceptions

    Strategic Factors for Building Brand Equity: Jordan Medical Tourism

    Building a brand with strong equity is a vital element for differentiation and competitiveness, especially in today s highly competitive medical tourism. The literature indicated that Jordan has weak medical tourism brand equity. The contribution of customer relationship management and service quality in developing brand equity can t be ignored. Studies on marketing activities towards building brand equity remain limited. Accordingly, 650 self-administrated questionnaires were distributed to outpatient medical tourists in Amman s five biggest hospitals using systematic sampling. After screening, 454 surveys were used for analysis using structural equation modelling. The results indicated that customer relationship management significantly impacted service quality and brand equity. Service quality strongly influenced brand equity, and brand equity was enhanced indirectly through service quality. This study highlighted the importance of such factors on brand equity-building activities in Jordanian medical tourism context. Further research is recommended to expand the proposed model

    Warak Ngendhog in Semarang City make it a cultural phenomenon. Some forms of commodification are used in the economic, political and cultural sectors. The purpose of this study is to find out the symptoms of the cultural phenomenon which has transformed into various forms. This research use qualitative analysis with descriptive approach. As for the results of this study, Warak Ngendhog which functions has transformed and changed, can be utilized in the cultural and tourism sectors as one of the cultural icons in the city of Semarang. Warak Ngendhog culture has contributed to the government of Semarang City with the emergence of various forms of its transformation into various forms of art and culture. In addition, this study is expected to give contribution in the field of cultural preservation in Semarang City

    Citizen Journalism and Online Community Media: A Case Study of pwmu.co

    One of the most prominent online community media in Muhammadiyah is pwmu.co (https://pwmu.co/) that published by the Regional Office of Muhammadiyah (PWM) East Java. This article departs from an interest of the writing team to find out how citizen journalism-based media management works in the online community media, especially pwmu.co. This study itself uses a case study method by collecting data using in-depth interviews, then selecting informants using purposive sampling or criterion-based selection. In this study, informants were pwmu.co editors, while observations were made by looking carefully at the pwmu.co editorial room. The result demonstrates that community media management executed by pwmu.co accentuates citizen journalism principles and voluntarily actions to resolve their works relating to collecting news. Journalists and reporters in this community are citizen journalist that comes from Muhammadiyah people and they are trained through a series of the workshop by the editors of pwmu.co

    A Comparison of China and Malaysia in International Business Negotiation

    The real negotiation world particularly cross-cultural negotiation is very challenging and competitive compared to domestic negotiation as each party needs to have cultural intelligence when it comes to international business environment. As many companies are going global, seeking international growth as an importer-exporter, international business negotiation skills are very much needed. The participants in this study were Chinese and Malaysian business negotiators involved in China-Malaysia business. One hundred questionaires were conducted by sending emails or through WeChat to the participants who are based in China. In fact, China s One Belt One Road s plan has created plenty of opportunities for Malaysia to collaborate with Chinese government officials and business leaders in different areas. Based on our analysis, we found that between the two groups of Chinese and Malaysian business negotiators, interdependent self-contrual mediated the relation between cultural norms and interaction goals

    Teenagers Entertainment Satisfaction in Watching Talk Show Program through Youtube

    This study was conducted based on the results of research from several survey institutions which explained that there was an indication of shifting patterns from old media to the new media. The researchers wanted to know the level of satisfaction of the youth in using the new media among the community with the students of Universitas Sebelas Maret, generation 2015 to 2017. In this study, the researchers used the Uses and Gratification approaches. The researchers also use quantitative analysis and the Slovin formula to calculate samples of respondents from each generation. The frequency distribution analysis technique was used to calculate the frequency of data and then procentaged. The result of this study is that there is a high level of satisfaction where the majority of the respondents feel that they get the satisfaction they want or look for when watching talk show program through Youtube

    This study aims to find out the characteristics of Jangkar Kelud Radio as disaster community radio. The existence of community radio is as information means of disaster mitigation. There are nine Jangkar Kelud community radio stations spread in three regencies of Malang, Blitar, and Kediri. The object of this research is Jangkar Kelud community radio. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative that is the characteristic of Jangkar Kelud Radio is as disaster community radio. The results of this study show the characteristics of community radio is in line with Law No. 32 year 2002. The distinctiveness of Jangkar Kelud community radio are the presence of the radio geographically is in the prone disaster area, the content of on-air and off-air programs is about disaster mitigation, the concept of community radio is by, from and for visible disaster risk reduction through the radio management participation
