The objective of this paper is to survey the literature on the information content of analyst report from three essential dimensions, namely, target price, earnings forecast and trading volume. The method employed is following the qualitative approach by reviewing and examining the past literature from the view of theoretical and empirical researchers. The initial result from existing literature, reveals that the research in analyst report mainly focused on empirical research rather than theoretical perspective. Secondly, there no clear consensus on the consistency of results regarding how well the information contents involving target price, earnings forecast and trading volume influencing the stock return. Thus, the views whether analyst report transmitting information to the investors still remain unambiguous when making an investment decision. This study is expected to enrich the existing literature in the area of analyst report and propose several areas for future researchers related to this topic.DOI: 10.15408/etk.v17i1.666

Austerity in Time of Crisis: A Solution or a Dangerous Idea? Evidence from Algeria
Our study is aimed to investigate the effect of austerity measures on the economic growth. Besides that, this research wants to examine whether austerity is the solution of the current oil crisis in Algeria or not. To achieve this aim we have used a Non-Linear Autoregressive Lag Distributed model (NARDL) to illustrate the negative and positive changes in austerity measures and their effects on gross domestic product. The findings of our estimation provides that neither increasing taxes cuts nor reducing expenditures is a solution for the crisis, that what confirms empirically what Keynesian economists approve. Therefore, Algeria’s authorities must quickly find other solution rather than austerity policies.DOI: 10.15408/etk.v17i1.679

The Impact of ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Agreements on Indonesian Export of Manufacturing Goods
Along with an attempt to promote the export performance of manufacturing goods, the number of investigation about the potential benefit or harm of free trade agreements is still weak in Indonesia. This paper highlights the effect of ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Agreement (AKFTA) on Indonesian export of manufacturing products since AKFTA as one of the significant initiatives in Southeast Asia is expected to boost Indonesian export. By using augmented gravity models with panel data, this paper investigates the presence of trade creation and trade diversion effects on Indonesian export with 20 trading partners, covering a 26-year period from 1990-2015. Fixed effects with least square dummy variable (LSDV) models are applied to tackle the endogeneity problems of FTA by controlling the unobserved heterogeneity. The results showed that trade diversion outweighs trade creation effects in almost all categories, confirming a decrease in export from member to non-member countries.DOI: 10.15408/etk.v17i2.734
Foreign Banks’ Presence and Domestic Bank Performance: Evidence from Indonesia
We examine the impact of foreign presence on domestic banks’ performance by studying conventional commercial banks in Indonesia. We use monthly financial information of 97 commercial banks from 2003 through 2013 resulting in 8,600 observations. We use a panel data regression (Panel Least Square method) to test our hypotheses. Our results show that overall, foreign presence decreases the performance of domestic banks. Going deeper, we find that foreign presence reduces state-owned banks’ profitability as well as private domestic banks’ profitability. However, there is no significant effect of foreign presence on the performance of regional development banks. Little evidence found on the effect of foreign presence on overhead cost.DOI:10.15408/etk.v17i2.776
