Brexit, Grenfell, Windrush, and the mooring, un-mooring, and re-mooring of home
Get PDFThe article argues that three events presently shaping the consciousness of British people - the 2016 Brexit referendum and its continuing fallout, the fire at Grenfell Tower in June 2017, and the ‘Windrush Scandal’ of 2018 – derive from closely related sources deep in the foundations of British political culture, one (of many) source being contempt by the British ruling class for the working class and migrants (especially Muslims). The three events raise key issues about the nature of home and post-home in an age of high migration including forced migration. The cries “Go Home” uttered on both sides of the Atlantic reveal a deep lack of understanding about what home means. Using the terms mooring, un-mooring, and re-mooring, we ask other questions. Where and what is home? Where and what is home for migrants and refugees? Who has what roles in enabling the housing of those who have been expelled from home (by fire, war, or politico-economic processes)? How much of the hostility in the UK towards migrants and towards Europe derives from feelings of being dispossessed? How much from nostalgia for lost empire? Has hostility driven out hospitality? To what extent has the extreme political right been responsible for the fracturing both of British society and home itself? How might we resist

Diese sollen im Hinblick auf ihr Potential für neue Forschungsansätze diskutiert werden. Das Ziel ist, die zunehmende Komplexität sozialer und kultureller Forschungskontexte stärker zu berücksichtigen und ihre Anwendbarkeit im Hinblick auf eine stadtethnografische Designforschung kritisch zu reflektieren.
The article introduces various approaches, which discuss added values in an interdisciplinary exchange between cultural anthropology research and design processes. This is intended to generate potentials for new research approaches that take greater account of the increasing complexity of social and cultural research contexts and provide more open approached to new research contexts. The various approaches are reflected with regard to an example of an urban anthropological design project

Sie nehmen dabei nicht nur intellektuell das Wissen auf, sie eignen sich zudem das körperliche Wissen an, um Einblick in die Disposition der Subjekte der Praktik zu erlangen.
This article describes a researcher approaching her research field – the fan culture surrounding the football club of St. Pauli in Hamburg. It shows that European ethnologists are not just concerned with abstract phenomena, but also with the relevance of the experience of the ‘real world’. Knowledge is not just acquired through the intellectual approach, but also physically to gain insights into the disposition of the subjects of the practice

Get PDFDie Kulturanthropologinnen Lina Franken, Lara Hansen, Samantha Lutz, Teresa Stumpf, Alejandra Tijerina García und Gertraud Koch erläutern die Produktivität des Zusammenspiels unterschiedlicher Wissenshorizonte und Kompetenzen in der Wissensproduktion im Rahmen von \u27Studios\u27. Das wichtigste Prinzip ist der Austausch über die Erkenntnisse und Vorgehensweisen; im Diskurs werden Ideen formuliert, weiterentwickelt und überprüft. Die Autor*innen führen einige konkrete, erfolgreiche Projekte des Instituts auf, in denen Studierende, Nachwuchswissenschaftler*innen und Hochschullehrer*innen gemeinsam Themen erarbeitet haben. Es wird deutlich, dass sich aus dem Gesprächsbedarf und den sich daraus entwickelnden Auseinandersetzungen eine Dynamik entwickelt. Sie zeigen, dass über die Multiperspektivität die Komplexität der Forschungsgegenstände Berücksichtigung findet.
Cultural anthropologists Lina Franken, Lara Hansen, Samantha Lutz, Teresa Stumpf, Alejandra Tijerina García and Gertraud Koch explain the efficacy of the combination of a variety of knowledge backgrounds and competences in the production of knowledge. The most important principle of the \u27Studios\u27 is the exchange of insights and procedures; ideas are being formulated, developed further and tested in discourse. The authors refer to several successful projects that have been carried out at the institute for which students, young researchers and senior researchers have concerted their input. It becomes clear that the need to communicate and the debates evolving from that develop a productive dynamism. The autors show that the multi-perspectivity and the complexity of the research objects are being addressed in these larger and heterogeneous research groups

Get PDFDer Beitrag untersucht den Rugbyroman Le Taureau de Mazargues von R.-M. Rolland, der 1931 erschienen ist. Dabei soll gezeigt werden, dass der der Protagonist Jean als Sportheld entworfen wird, dessen heroischer Status jedoch grundlegend durch seine Ambivalenz gekennzeichnet ist. Konstruiert wird diese gebrochene Heldenfigur, indem die Erzählung Konstitutionsbedingungen des Heroischen bedient und zugleich problematisiert. Die Kategorien „Heldenmacher“, „Publikum“, „Heldentat“ und „Heroisierung“ stehen dabei im Fokus der Untersuchung. Der Beitrag schlägt vor, Rollands Roman als eine Geschichte der Entfremdung im Zeichen des Heroischen zu lesen.This article examines the rugby novel Le Taureau de Mazargues by R.-M. Rolland, published in 1931. The aim is to show that the protagonist Jean is portrayed as a sports hero, whose heroic status, however, is fundamentally marked by his ambivalence. By serving the constitutional conditions of the heroic and at the same time problematizing them the narrative constructs this broken heroic figure. The categories “hero makers”, “audience“, “heroic deed” and “heroization” are the focus of the investigation. The article proposes to read Rolland\u27s novel as a story of alienation under the sign of heroism.L’article analyse le roman de rugby Le Taureau de Mazargues de R.-M. Rolland, publié en 1931. L\u27objectif est de montrer que le protagoniste Jean est dépeint comme un héros sportif, dont le statut héroïque est cependant fondamentalement marqué par son ambivalence. En servant les conditions constitutionnelles de l\u27héroïque et en les problématisant en même temps, la narration construit cette figure héroïque brisée. Les catégories « les créateurs de héros », « le public », « l’acte héroïque » et « l’héroïsation » sont au centre de l\u27enquête. L\u27article propose de lire le roman de Rolland comme une histoire d\u27aliénation sous le signe del\u27héroïsme

El rugby español de ayer y de hoy: Una entrevista con Carlos Bernardos Vallejo
Get PDFCarlos Bernardos Vallejo se inició en el mundo del rugby como jugador a los 18 años en el equipo de la Escuela de Ingenieros de Montes de Madrid, tanto en liga universitaria como en la liga madrileña de segunda regional. Más tarde recaló en el CEU entrenado por André Medan durante varias temporadas y, cuando Medan volvió a Francia, tomó el papel de entrenador del club. Posteriormente, al fusionarse su equipo con el TECA, fundaron el Alcobendas R.C. En el año 1988 dejó de ser jugador definitivamente para dirigir al equipo como entrenador y en 1994 comenzó a trabajar con la Federación Española de Rugby en diversos puestos: como Director Técnico hasta 2003, al mismo tiempo que fue Coordinador de la Preparación física y Preparador Físico de las Selecciones Nacionales Absoluta, Femenina, Junior, Senior masculina de rugby a 7 y Senior femenina de rugby a 7 entre los año 1998 y 2009 . También ha sido Asesor Técnico de Alta Competición de la Federación Española de Rugby de 2013 a 2010 y Director de la Escuela Nacional de Entrenadores de la Federación Española de Rugby durante 5 años. Hace 4 temporadas volvió a los campos como entrenador, para trabajar con el equipo femenino del Olímpico de Pozuelo durante tres temporadas, quedando las dos últimas campeonas de España, y una cuarta temporada con el equipo masculino
