THE CONVERSATION IMPLICATURE IN PRESIDENT JOKO WIDODO RHETORICAL AND DIPLOMATIC SPEECH
The paper aims to describe the implicature used by President Joko Widodo in his speech on international forums. This study employs a pragmatic analysis approach to identify the implicative meanings of his speech. The data were the videos and texts of the transcription of President Joko Widodo's speech at the APEC CEO Summit Summit in Beijing on November 10, 2014 and the Asian-African Conference in Jakarta on April 22 2015. The data were analyzed by using note-taking techniques comprising two stages, (1) classifying linguistic data that contains implicatures and (2) interpreting the meaning behind the implicature used, based on the context of the situation and the background of the relevant discourse. Based on the results, President Joko Widodo‘s speech was dominated by several implicatures including influencing, insinuating, convincing, threatening, complaining, clarifying, and governing
THE IMAGE OF WOMEN IN HANINDAWAN'S LAMPOE PLENTHONG 15 WATT DRAMA SCRIPT
The purpose of this research was to describe the image of women in Hanindawan's drama script Lampoe Plenthong 15 Watt. This research was a descriptive qualitative research with content analysis. The data was from Hanindawan's Lampoe Plenthong 15 Wattdrama script. Data collection techniques used library techniques, listen and take notes. The data analysis technique used an interactive technique with a stylistic approach. Based on the results of the research, it was found that the form of women's image included the role of women as individuals, the role of women as mothers, the role of women as wives, the role of women as workers and the role of women in community life
APPLICATION OF CDA IN ANALYZING LITERARY WORKS IN HIGHER EDUCATION
The ability of students to analyze literary works is very weak. An important effort to improve students’ abilities in analyzing literary works is to introduce the CDA approach as an analysis tool for literary works. This study aims to describe, interpret, and explain (1) the ability of students to identify words/phrases/sentences that are praxis in short stories, (2) the ability of students to identify the form of praxis in short stories, and (3) the ability of students to interpret the socio-cultural short stories that have been analyzed. This research uses a three-dimensional technical analysis of Fairclough discourse. The result of this study show that students able to (1) choose praxis words/phrases/sentences, such as adjectives that support binary opposition and words of denial, (2) find the form of short story praxis, such as stereotypes and discrimination, and (3) the socio-cultural dimension of the short story interpreted by students is discursive Balinese ritual tradition of the dead
THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TEACHING MODULE COMPUTER BASED DRILLING MODEL AND PRACTICE IN IMPROVING LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT OF INDONESIAN LANGUAGE
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the computer-assisted learning module for drill and practice model of Indonesian language learning in SMA/MA East Lombok District. This research includes development research through the stage of requirement analysis, limited sample testing and testing of action research settings. The research subject consists of teachers and SMA/ MA students in East Lombok district. Research Data is collected via questionnaire, observation sheets, tests, and interview guidelines. Data was analyzed using the component's anáolysis technique and continued with test-t analysis. The results showed that (1) th majority of teacher prepare the teaching materials independently than work collaboratively; (2) The result of learning Indonesian language through the use of a computer-assisted drill and practice based learning Module at each cycle increases, (3) There are differences in the results of Indonesian language learning between students who have been taught using a computer-assisted learning module drill and practice model with students who are taught without using a computer-assisted learning Module drill and practice model, and (4) students ' responses to learning modules developed and are in a good category
SCAFFOLDING THE CREATIVE WRITING OF JENIUS WRITING STUDENTS
The purpose of this study was to discuss the scaffolding techniques used in the Jenius Writing (JW) program to support students’ creative writing. The Jenius Writing 58 (JW 58) class was studied using a qualitative case study method. The data were gathered through documentation from posts on the JW 58 WhatsApp Group and Gen JW International’s Facebook page. Data analysis was performed using Miles and Huberman’s data analysis technique, which included data reduction, data visualization, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal four distinct types of creative writing scaffolding techniques: (1) writing inconsequentially, directly, or as things; (2) utilizing a hypnotic pattern or employing wording and phrases that can influence the development of writing; (3) employing a paragraph pattern to build writing, specifically writing based on the structure of words or phrases that focus on a single concept; and (4) using questions to develop a piece of writing
THE EFFECTIVENESS OF INTERACTIVE-MULTIMEDIA-AIDED SO-CIAL COGNITIVE MODEL FOR EARLY READING LEARNING IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
This study aimed to measure the effectiveness of interactive multimedia aided social cognitive model in early reading learning, implemented to improve students’ early reading skills. The model was implemented to 195 first- and second-graders in an elementary school in Bandung. Descriptive statistics analysis was conducted to measure the difference in students’ ability before and after the treatment, based on the result of pre- and post-test using EGRA instrument. Results of this study indicated that social cognitive learning could be combined with interactive multimedia to effectively improve students’ early reading ability. However, further study is required to understand why the model contributed lower significance towards improvement of word-reading skill than towards improvement of other aspects of early reading skills
THE EXISTENCE OF WOMEN ON THE MURDERER IN FOUR STAG-ES BY MOULY SURYA
This study aims to describe: (1) the treatment of women and (2) the causes of oppression of women, based on the multicultural feminism perspective. This study is qualitative. The data in this study are in the form of text and images of contextual elements containing the existence of women in the form of treatment and causes of oppression of women in the Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts movie. The data was collected through three techniques, namely: documentation technique, listening technique, and transcript technique, and to add the valid data, the researchers used the N-Vivo application by retrieving data from online media, namely news republika, compass, tempo, detik.com, news that discusses the Marlina film. The data results are in the form of images, tables and diagrams, then described by researchers, supported by relevant theories. Then, the data was analyzed by using feminism theory by Simon De Beauvoir and multicultural feminism theory by Audre Lorde. The analysis was done through three phase namely indentification, classification, and data presention. The results of this study indicate: (1) the treatment of women is divided into two, namely: the characteristics of woman feminine and the types of women. The characteristics of women consist of: fear, weakness, patience, kindness, submission, inferiority, alertness, anxiety, hope and imagination. While, the types of women are narcissistic, prostitute, and mystical women. (2) The causes of women's oppression are sexism, racism, classism and ethnicity
SPEECH ACTS USED BY A GAMING YOUTUBER IN AN ONLINE GAME VIDEO
The purpose of this study was to determine the speech acts strategies used by a gaming Youtuber, Jess No Limit in one of his online-game streaming videos. A mixed-method research design was employed by combining the qualitative and quantitative approaches to data collection and data analysis. The results of this study suggest that a gaming Youtuber most likely use positive politeness strategies to seek agreement, pay attention to his interests, wants or needs, giving away rewards, engaging the viewers in his activities, provide reasons and intensify attention to the speaker. This positive politeness strategy is a You-tuber's strength in communicating to pique the audience's interest and sympathy and gain as many subscribers as possible
THE DOMINATION OF PATRIARCHISM IN INHERITANCE CUSTOMARY SYSTEMS
There are two objectives to be achieved by this study, first revealing the dominance of patriarchism in systems of inheritance. Secondly, revealing efforts to represent resistance to the customary systems of inheritance in literary works of Balinese cultural background. Theoretically, this research has an urgency for the development of literary discourse, while practically giving an understanding to the public about the attitude of inheritance issues in Bali. Theories of literary sociology and feminism are used as a basic foundation for analyzing the problems offered in this study. The main data sources of the research are two novels by Oka Rusmini, namely Tarian Bumi and Kenanga and two short stories by Putu Fajar Arcana, namely Sulasih and Wardani Marriage. After the data has been collected using the literature study method, then it is analyzed based on a descriptive qualitative method. The results show that the dominance of patriarchism in the adat system of inheritance has created social inequality. The customary inheritance system rules in literary works (Tarian Bumi, Kenanga, Sulasih, and Pernikahan Wardani) are monolithic, showing no partiality towards girls. Daughters who have “ninggal kedaton” (married) do not get a family “gunakaya” inheritance (gono gini). THE EFFECT OF USING SOCIAL MEDIA TOWARDS STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION
This study aims to determine the effect of the activity of using social media on the ability of college students to reading comprehension. This type of research is quantitative with a correlational method. The sample in this study was taken with simple random sampling. PBSI FKIP UHAMKA active students approximately 600 students who if taken a sample of 25% at random, would choose 150 students. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and reading tests, while data analysis using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression equations. The results of this study indicate that the intensity of the use of social media in the percentage of students is 45% moderate, 25% low, 25% high, and 7% very high, obtained the regression equation . These findings indicate that the more activity on social media, the lower the level of reading comprehension although not significantly
