Dibalik Kecanduan Media Sosial pada Remaja: Pengaruh Stres Akademik dan Kecemasan Sosial dengan Regulasi Emosi sebagai Mediator
Academic stress and social anxiety can lead to social media addiction as a form of escape, especially if emotional regulation is unable to manage negative emotions. This study aims to examine the mediating role of emotional regulation in the influence of academic stress and social anxiety on social media addiction in adolescents. This study used a quantitative method, involving 264 students of SMPN X in Semarang City. The sample was determined using a non-probability sampling approach, namely quota sampling. Data analysis used the path analysis method with the help of JASP (Jeffrey's Amazing Statistics Program) version 19.3. The results of the analysis showed that emotional regulation partially mediates the effect of academic stress and social anxiety on social media addiction. This suggests that academic stress and social anxiety can increase the risk of social media addiction, especially if accompanied by low emotional regulation abilities. Thus, schools have a strategic role in improving students' emotional regulation, especially in managing academic stress and social anxiety through psychoeducational programs and counseling as a preventive measure to prevent or reduce the level of social media addiction among students
Possessiveness dan Eksistensi Diri sebagai Prediktor Sikap Public Display of Affection Remaja di Indonesia
The phenomenon of public display of affection (PDA), or the act of expressing affection in public spaces, has become increasingly prevalent among Indonesian adolescents. However, this practice often sparks debate, as Indonesian culture upholds values of modesty and Eastern norms that generally regard public displays of affection as inappropriate. This study aims to examine the contribution of possessiveness and self-existence in predicting public display of affection attitude among Indonesian adolescents. Employing a quantitative approach, the study involved 300 adolescents aged 13–18 years in Indonesia, selected through a cluster sampling technique. The instruments used included the Love Addiction Inventory, the Self-Existential Scale, and a public display of affection attitude scale developed by the researchers. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS. The findings revealed that possessiveness and self-existence significantly influenced public display of affection attitude, contributing a total of 60%. Furthermore, significant differences were found based on gender in the average scores of the public display of affection and self-existence variables, with male adolescents tending to have higher average scores on both variables. These results provide a basis for developing educational programs on healthy expressions of affection and serve as a reference for further research on the psychological dynamics within adolescent interpersonal relationships
Terjebak dalam Kemacetan: Eksplorasi Subjective Well-Being Pekerja Komuter Jakarta
Commuting is a daily reality for many workers in the Jakarta area and its surroundings. Previous studies have established that commuting exerts a significant influence on individual subjective well-being (SWB). This research aims to investigate the various factors that shape the relationship between commuting experiences and the subjective well-being of workers in Jakarta and neighboring regions. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, the study utilizes thematic analysis to uncover pivotal themes affecting the SWB of commuter workers. Data was gathered through in-depth interviews with six participants, aged 23 to 51, residing in the Jakarta vicinity. The findings indicate that commuting experiences have a notable impact on the SWB of these workers, with negative emotions often predominating, despite some positive sentiments reported. Job satisfaction emerges as a crucial factor in understanding commuting dynamics; however, this satisfaction can sometimes come at the expense of well-being in other aspects of life. Workers with families encounter heightened challenges in achieving a balance between subjective well-being and the competing demands of work and family responsibilities. Coping strategies adopted by individuals are vital for enhancing subjective well-being, particularly in light of technological advancements. Furthermore, finding ways to engage in meaningful leisure activities plays an essential role in boosting SWB. External factors, including transportation policies and work arrangements, are also recognized as influential in improving individual subjective well-bein
Mental Health Students' Profiling Across Urban and Rural Areas
Mental health is a condition in which individuals can realize their potential, cope with life's pressures, work productively, and make contributions. Therefore, mental health is very important for humans, especially for students. A mental health profile is one of the efforts in identifying factors that affect students' mental health. This study is a quantitative descriptive, inferential study. In the inferential, 3-way MANOVA analysis is used, and the description is equipped with correspondence visualization. The population in this study was high school students in urban and rural areas in Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia, totalling 1240 students. The sampling used was cluster random, totaling 134 students. 2 suburban and 2 sub-rural areas were taken to compare their mental health. In addition to demographics, other research variables were also selected in the form of gender, student guardians, number of social media applications, age, distance, and student weight. From the discussion, the results indicate that there is a joint influence between gender, number of social media applications, and demographics on students' mental health. The existence of interaction of influence indicates that synergy between schools and related governments is needed to make the best policies to anticipate the high level of mental health problems of students in urban and rural areas. In contrast, students with low health problems were identified as students whose homes were close to school, users of 1 social media application, and students with ideal body weight
Peran Resiliensi dalam Hubungan Self-compassion dan Psychological Well-Being pada Mahasiswa dengan Tradisi Bapukung
Psychological well-being is essential for mental health and academic success; however, the role of self-compassion and resilience in the local cultural context remains underexplored. This study examines the relationship between self-compassion and psychological well-being, with resilience as a mediator, among students with a background in the bapukung tradition in South Kalimantan. A quantitative research method was employed using purposive sampling, involving 273 students from a total population of 89,980. Data analysis was conducted using path analysis to examine the mediating role of resilience in the relationship between self-compassion and psychological well-being. The findings indicate that self-compassion positively influences psychological well-being, both directly and indirectly through resilience as a partial mediator. This suggests that self-compassion enhances psychological well-being not only directly but also by strengthening individual resilience. The results highlight that while the bapukung tradition contributes to early emotional bonding, it is insufficient to enhance psychological well-being in adulthood. Therefore, additional interventions, such as education and counseling, focusing on strengthening self-compassion and resilience, are needed to optimally support students' psychological well-being
Mengelola Keseimbangan Karir dan Pendidikan: Studi Fenomenologi Ibu yang Bekerja Sambil Kuliah S3 di Universitas Gadjah Mada
A mother who works while pursuing PhD faces significant challenge achieving work-life balance due to academic demands, work pressure, and maternal responsibilities. The absence of social support and effective time management strategies can lead to burnout, stress, and a decline in well-being. This research aims to explore the dynamics of work-life balance faced by mothers studying PhDs, focusing on the influence of their social roles on individual well-being. Using a qualitative approach, this research adopts in-depth interview methods to four participants who chosen by a purposive sampling and interpretative phenomenological analysis to explore mothers studying doctoral studies, realizing their dual roles as mothers, students, researchers, and colleagues. The research result show that perceptions of multiple roles and work-life balance are subjective and influenced by individual context. These findings provide new insight into how dual roles affect the well-being of mothers who are also PhD students and present the basis for developing more effective strategies for managing work-life balance among graduate students
Meta-Analysis Study: Effectiveness of Play Therapy to Reduce Children's Aggressiveness
Child aggression has become an increasing problem in recent years. Children who exhibit aggressive behavior tend to have difficulty controlling their emotions, get angry quickly and are often involved in conflicts with peers and family members. If not adequately addressed, this aggressiveness can negatively impact a child's social, emotional, and academic development, potentially leading to more severe behaviors later in life. One proven effective way to reduce aggressiveness in children is through play therapy. In this therapy, children can process emotions that are difficult to understand or express verbally, including anger and frustration, which often trigger aggressiveness. The study aims to see play therapy's effectiveness in reducing children's aggressiveness. The method used in this study is meta-analysis, in which researchers reviewed 14 selected journals based on predetermined characteristics. The analysis results show that play therapy has a significant effect size and effectively reduces aggressiveness in children. Further studies could explore the long-term impact of play therapy on children's aggressiveness across different age groups and cultural backgrounds, as well as its effectiveness when combined with other therapeutic interventions
Efektivitas Exercise-Based Intervention dalam Mengurangi Gejala Gaming Disorder pada Remaja: Studi Kuasi Eksperimental
Research on gaming disorder and its prevention has been intensified since the World Health Organization (WHO) included gaming disorder in the 11th edition of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11). This study aims to examine the effectiveness of exercise-based intervention in reducing symptoms of gaming disorder in adolescents. A quasi-experimental method with an interrupted time-series design was used to compare participants' conditions between before and after the intervention. The sampling method used was purposive sampling with the following criteria: (1) adolescents aged 12-18 years, (2) playing games, (3) getting a score of five or more on The Ten-Item Internet Gaming Disorder (IGDT-10) instrument. Five participants (n = 5) who met the criteria then participated in the intervention procedure for three days. Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test was used to analyze the significance of the difference in scores between pre- and post-intervention. The results indicated that there was a significant reduction in gaming disorder symptoms between pre- and post-intervention (T = 0.00, p 0.05, n = 5, = 0.00, = 15.00). This research has practical implications for the use of exercise-based intervention to prevent and treat gaming disorder in adolescents and its application in educational and clinical settings. Similar research with the use of objective indicators, the use of randomized sampling techniques, and the provision of interventions over a long period of time is highly recommended to improve the quality of future research
Analisis Skala Student Well-Being Versi Indonesia pada Mahasiswa dengan Rasch Mixture Model
This study evaluates the psychometric properties of the Indonesian Student Well-Being Scale (Aprilianto, 2023), grounded in Fraillon (2004) theory, using a quantitative validation design with data from 510 university students aged 19-25 collected through accidental sampling. The scale, initially comprising 53 items, was refined to 41 items after removing non-fitting items based on Rasch and Mixture Rasch Model (MRM) analyses. Results demonstrated the scale's unidimensionality, high reliability (Cronbach's alpha 0.9), and valid measurement properties, with MRM identifying two latent classes reflecting demographic differences. The scale effectively measures intrapersonal and interpersonal dimensions using a 4-point Likert scale. However, it underrepresents extremely high well-being levels, highlighting the need for additional item development. Despite its strengths, future studies should explore broader demographic variables, including cultural and socioeconomic factors, to enhance the scale's applicability and depth
Kesehatan Mental Mahasiswa dalam Proses Penyusunan Skripsi: Kontribusi Kecerdasan Spiritual dan Daya Juang
Thesis completion is a crucial final stage in undergraduate students' academic journey. During this process, students often face psychological pressure that affects their mental health. This study aims to determine the relationship between spiritual intelligence and adversity quotient with the mental health of final-year students. The research method used is quantitative with a correlational design, and the sampling technique applied was random sampling. The data were analyzed using product moment correlation and multiple linear regression to test both minor and major hypotheses. The results show a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.864. The significance value of F. Change is 0.000, which indicates 0.000 0.05, meaning that spiritual intelligence and adversity quotient are significantly related to mental health. The significance test also shows that the values of F. Change and F. count are greater than F. table, namely 255.581 3.040. These results confirm that the major hypothesis is accepted, and there is a positive relationship between spiritual intelligence and adversity quotient with students' mental health. This finding highlights the importance of strengthening both resilience and spiritual intelligence as part of student support strategies during thesis completion
