    a Hubungan Identitas Budaya dan Motivasi Akademik: Studi pada Mahasiswa Multietnis Indonesia dan Mesir

    This study investigates the relationship between cultural identity, cultural practices, cultural adaptation, and academic motivation among multiethnic students in Indonesia and Egypt, with a particular focus on the Indonesian context. Considering the unique academic challenges faced by students from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, the study explores how cultural and Islamic values influence motivation and engagement. A cross-sectional quantitative design was employed, collecting data from 110 students aged 18–25 (55 from each country) using validated instruments, including the Multigroup Ethnic Identity Measure-Revised (MEIM-R), Cultural Practices Scale, and Academic Motivation Scale. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that cultural identity has the strongest positive effect on intrinsic academic motivation (β = 0.412, p < 0.001), followed by cultural practices (β = 0.218, p < 0.05), whereas cultural adaptation did not show a significant direct effect (β = 0.156, p = 0.059). Multi-group analysis revealed stronger relationships among Indonesian students (β = 0.521) than among Egyptian students (β = 0.298). These findings support Social Identity and Self-Determination theories and suggest that fostering positive cultural and Islamic values effectively enhances academic engagement. Practically, higher education institutions in Indonesia are encouraged to implement programs that integrate Islamic values, cultural awareness, and inclusive practices to strengthen students’ motivation, character, and academic success in multicultural learning environments.Studi ini menyelidiki hubungan antara identitas budaya dan motivasi akademik di antara mahasiswa multietnis di Indonesia dan Mesir. Menggunakan desain potong lintang kuantitatif, data dikumpulkan dari 110 mahasiswa berusia 18-25 tahun (55 dari setiap negara) melalui instrumen yang tervalidasi termasuk MEIM-R, Skala Praktik Budaya, dan Skala Motivasi Akademik, dianalisis melalui PLS-SEM. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa identifikasi budaya menunjukkan hubungan positif terkuat dengan motivasi intrinsik (β = 0,412, p < 0,001), diikuti oleh praktik budaya (β = 0,218, p < 0,05), sementara adaptasi budaya tidak menunjukkan efek langsung yang signifikan (β = 0,156, p = 0,059). Analisis multi-kelompok menunjukkan perbedaan lintas negara yang signifikan, dengan mahasiswa Indonesia menunjukkan hubungan yang lebih kuat antara identifikasi budaya dan motivasi intrinsik (β = 0,521) dibandingkan dengan mahasiswa Mesir (β = 0,298).     Meritocracy serves as a normative foundation in the management of Indonesia’s State Civil Apparatus (ASN); however, its implementation is often hindered by political patronage, regulatory fragmentation, and weak institutional integrity. Although recruitment and promotion mechanisms based on merit have been formalized, various challenges continue to obstruct the realization of fairness and bureaucratic professionalism. In contrast, Islamic political thought offers the concept of ahl al-kifāyah, which emphasizes the integration of competence (al-quwwah) and moral integrity (al-amānah) in public leadership, as reflected in the Qur’an and fiqh siyasah literature. This study aims to analyze the construction of meritocracy in ASN management in Indonesia and compare it with the principles of ahl al-kifāyah. Using a normative-comparative legal research approach and literature review, the study examines legislation, policy documents, and classical and contemporary Islamic sources.The findings indicate that, conceptually, Indonesia’s merit system aligns with Islamic principles, particularly regarding competence and accountability. However, ethical and transcendental values have not been fully institutionalized as part of leadership legitimacy. Based on these findings, this study proposes an Islamic Meritocracy Framework that integrates technical competence, moral integrity, and value-based leadership into ASN recruitment and management. This framework provides a normative perspective to strengthen governance, uphold ethical standards, and support civil service reform in IndonesiaPenelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis konstruksi meritokrasi dalam sistem manajemen Aparatur Sipil Negara (ASN) di Indonesia serta membandingkannya dengan prinsip ahl al-kifāyah dalam tradisi siyasah Islam. Meskipun meritokrasi telah menjadi landasan normatif dalam berbagai peraturan kepegawaian, sejumlah kajian menunjukkan bahwa implementasinya kerap terhambat oleh patronase politik, disharmoni regulasi, dan lemahnya integritas kelembagaan. Di sisi lain, tradisi Islam menawarkan konsep kelayakan pejabat yang menekankan kesatuan antara kompetensi (al-quwwah) dan integritas moral (al-amānah), sebagaimana tercermin dalam figur-figur Qur’ani dan literatur fikih siyasah. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian hukum normatif-komparatif dan studi kepustakaan, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa merit system Indonesia memiliki titik keselarasan yang kuat dengan prinsip Islam, tetapi masih kekurangan fondasi etis-transendental yang menjadi inti kelayakan jabatan menurut siyasah. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, penelitian ini merumuskan Islamic Meritocracy Framework sebagai model integratif yang memadukan kompetensi teknis, moralitas publik, dan orientasi nilai dalam proses seleksi ASN.     The Transformation of Religious Authority: A Critical Review of Fanaticism and Intellectual Freedom in Indonesian Islamic Boarding Schools

    The transformation of religious authority in Indonesian pesantrens has significant implications for fanaticism and intellectual freedom. Using a hermeneutic-critical approach and Foucauldian discourse analysis, the kyai–santri relationship is interpreted as a practice of power and knowledge that shapes religious truth while reproducing hierarchical epistemic structures. Findings indicate that pesantren authority serves a dual function: preserving Islamic scholarly and moral traditions while potentially constraining students’ intellectual autonomy through epistemic compliance. The symbolic representation of kyais in modern media, along with students' subtle forms of resistance, signals a shift from charismatic-hierarchical authority to a participatory model. Pedagogical and curricular strategies such as dialogic learning, reflective halaqah, problem-based learning, and the integration of critical Islamic traditions—such as ijtihad and munāẓarah—are recommended to support this transition. By combining Foucault’s theory of power and knowledge with the principle of intellectual freedom in Islamic epistemology, a humanistic and emancipatory framework for Islamic education is presented. This approach positions pesantrens not merely as guardians of religious orthodoxy but as reflective learning spaces that foster critical awareness, ethical dialogue, and participatory spirituality within contemporary Muslim communitiesArtikel ini menelaah secara kritis transformasi otoritas keagamaan di pesantren Indonesia dalam kaitannya dengan fanatisme dan kebebasan intelektual. Menggunakan pendekatan hermeneutik-kritis dan analisis wacana Foucaultian, penelitian ini memandang relasi antara kiai dan santri sebagai praktik kuasa yang memproduksi kebenaran religius dan membentuk struktur pengetahuan hierarkis. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa otoritas keagamaan di pesantren berperan ganda: di satu sisi mempertahankan integritas tradisi dan moralitas Islam, namun di sisi lain dapat mengekang kebebasan berpikir santri melalui ketaatan epistemik (epistemic obedience). Dalam konteks modernisasi pendidikan Islam, muncul kebutuhan mendesak untuk menggeser paradigma otoritas dari yang bersifat karismatik-hierarkis menuju model shared authority atau otoritas partisipatif yang menumbuhkan dialog dan refleksi kritis. Artikel ini menawarkan kerangka konseptual yang memadukan teori power/knowledge Michel Foucault dan konsep intellectual freedom dalam epistemologi Islam (Al-Attas dan Arkoun), guna merumuskan paradigma pendidikan Islam yang emansipatoris, etis, dan humanistik. Dengan demikian, pesantren diposisikan bukan hanya sebagai penjaga ortodoksi keagamaan, melainkan juga sebagai laboratorium sosial bagi pembentukan kesadaran kritis, etika dialog, dan spiritualitas reflektif di era modern.     A Multidisciplinary Approach to Integrating Islamic Values and Local Culture into STEM Pedagogy in Arabic Language Learning

    Arabic language learning has been dominated by traditional methods that emphasize memorization and analysis of classical texts, thus not supporting the development of 21st-century skills. This study aims to formulate an Arabic language learning model based on a multidisciplinary approach that integrates STEM, Islamic values, and local culture to create applicable, contextual, and meaningful learning experiences. The research method is a library research with a critical-analytical approach to the latest national and international literature, particularly those discussing STEM pedagogy, language learning, Islamic values-based education, and the local cultural context. The results of the study indicate that STEM integration allows Arabic to be used as a medium for exploration, discussion, and project production, while Islamic values ​​such as amanah (trust), adab, ta'āwun (respect), and ṣidq (compassion) serve as ethical guidelines in every activity. Local culture serves as a living and relevant context, strengthening motivation and meaning in learning. The proposed operational model emphasizes identification of real problems, linguistic exploration, cross-disciplinary integration, work production, and reflection and evaluation, in accordance with Vygotsky's principles of social constructivism. The contribution of this research is to present a holistic pedagogical framework that combines cognitive, affective, spiritual, and contextual aspects, so that Arabic language learning not only builds language competence, but also Islamic character, cultural awareness, and 21st-century skills that are relevant to global challenges

    The Impact of Globalization and Scientific and Technological Developments on Family Behavior and the Dynamics of Islamic Family Law

    Globalization and the advancement of science and technology have brought significant changes to Muslim family life, affecting both social behavior and the practice of Islamic family law. These transformations have generated tensions between established legal norms and evolving social realities. This study aims to analyze the dual impact of globalization and technological development on the transformation of Muslim family behavior and the dynamics of Islamic family law in responding to such changes. Employing a qualitative socio-legal approach with a case study design, the research was conducted in several metropolitan cities with predominantly Muslim populations. Data were collected through a literature review and analyzed using an interactive analysis model to examine the gap between social realities (das Sein) and normative legal frameworks (das Sollen). The findings reveal a shift in family values toward individualism, a redefinition of gender roles within households, and an increase in digitally mediated family conflicts. From a legal perspective, adaptive responses have emerged through judicial ijtihad, particularly in addressing contemporary issues such as the use of digital evidence in family law cases. However, strong resistance within formal legislation persists, resulting in a significant legal vacuum. These findings highlight the need for a more responsive reform of Islamic family law that engages with social and technological change while maintaining its normative foundationsStudi ini menganalisis dampak ganda globalisasi dan sains serta teknologi terhadap perubahan perilaku keluarga Muslim serta dinamika respons hukum keluarga Islam. Melalui pendekatan sosio-legal kualitatif dengan studi kasus di kota-kota metropolitan berpenduduk mayoritas Muslim, studi ini menganalisis kesenjangan antara realitas sosial (das sein) dan norma hukum (das sollen) berdasarkan data pustaka dan analisis interaktif.     Analysis of Cultural Communication and Public Perceptions of Traditional Parafu Medicine in Bima from an Islamic Perspective

    Traditional Parafu medicine in Diha Village, Bima, represents a cultural practice with strong historical, social, spiritual, and religious significance. This practice is not only part of the community’s identity but also serves as a form of cultural communication that transmits ancestral values and social norms. This study aims to analyze the relationship between cultural communication, religious values, and public perceptions of Parafu practices. A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through semi-structured interviews with six key informants, including traditional leaders, religious figures, community representatives, and healthcare practitioners, complemented by participatory observation. Data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns of communication, empirical experiences, and socio-spiritual values underlying Parafu practices. The findings reveal that Parafu rituals, such as prayers, bathing in sacred wells, and communal meals, symbolize togetherness and reflect the harmony between cultural values and Islamic principles, where healing is believed to come from Allah SWT. Variations in understanding of sacred locations indicate diverse interpretations within the community. The study confirms that cultural communication, empirical experience, and socio-spiritual values form a strong foundation for sustaining Parafu practices. Moreover, the findings support the preservation of cultural heritage, strengthening of community identity, and the design of health communication strategies that respect local cultural norms and Islamic principles, ensuring the continued relevance of Parafu practices in the modern era.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara komunikasi budaya, nilai keagamaan, dan opini masyarakat terhadap praktik pengobatan tradisional Parafu di Desa Diha, Bima. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur terhadap enam informan kunci, meliputi tokoh adat, tokoh agama, tokoh masyarakat, dan tenaga kesehatan, serta observasi partisipatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa praktik Parafu memiliki nilai budaya, sosial, spiritual, dan religius yang kuat, berakar pada sejarah leluhur, serta melibatkan prosesi doa, mandi di sumur suci, dan makan bersama sebagai simbol kebersamaan. Praktik ini selaras dengan prinsip Islam karena kesembuhan diyakini berasal dari Allah SWT, meskipun terdapat dinamika pemahaman terkait keistimewaan lokasi. Kesimpulan penelitian menegaskan bahwa komunikasi budaya, pengalaman empiris, dan nilai sosial-spiritual menjadi landasan kuat dalam mempertahankan praktik Parafu, serta memiliki implikasi dalam pelestarian warisan budaya, penguatan identitas masyarakat, dan penyusunan strategi komunikasi kesehatan yang menghormati nilai lokal

    Marriage Delay and Economic Rationality: A Socio-Theological Study on Poverty Fear among Young Indonesian Muslims

    The increasing fear of economic instability among young Indonesian Muslims has shifted perceptions of marriage from a theological institution to an economically rational decision. This study critically examines how fear of poverty is constructed through economic rationality and how it directly shapes socio-theological understandings of marriage. Using primary documents such as official statistics and survey reports from BPS, BKKBN, GenRe, and GoodStats, alongside classical and modern Islamic literature on marriage, nafkah, ikhtiyār, and tawakkul, the study employs qualitative content analysis supported by rational choice and modernization theory, interpreted through an Islamic theological lens. Findings demonstrate that economic rationality is now the principal driver of marriage delays, redefining key theological concepts—nafkah, ikhtiyār, and family resilience—in increasingly material terms. The study's main contribution is to clarify the central role of economic fear in young Indonesian Muslims' marriage decisions, integrating economic rationality with Islamic theology. The findings suggest practical strategies to enhance Islamic economic literacy, design integrative premarital education, and inform public policy responsive to modern economic pressures on Muslim familiesFenomena meningkatnya ketakutan generasi muda Muslim Indonesia terhadap risiko kemiskinan telah menggeser motivasi pernikahan dari nilai teologis menuju pertimbangan rasional berbasis ekonomi; penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis konstruksi ketakutan tersebut dan implikasinya terhadap pandangan sosio-teologis pernikahan. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan sosio-teologis dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, FGD, dan studi dokumen statistik (BPS, GenRe, BKKBN), yang dianalisis menggunakan qualitative content analysis melalui reduksi, kategorisasi, interpretasi teoritis, dan verifikasi teologis. Analisis data dilakukan dengan matriks tematik yang dikonstruksi melalui teori rational choice dan teori modernisasi, kemudian direinterpretasi dalam kerangka teologi Islam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rasionalitas ekonomi menjadi variabel dominan penundaan pernikahan dan memicu pergeseran makna nafkah, ikhtiyar, serta ketahanan keluarga dari spiritual menjadi material-instrumental.
