    The development of halal food industry in Bangka Belitung Island: an analytic network process

    This study analyzes the development of the halal food industry in Bangka Belitung Island. Development is measured by innovation strategy, product strategy, promotion strategy, pricing strategy, and collusion strategy. The data used are primary data obtained from in-depth interviews with five experts and practitioners with competent considerations in the field of the halal food industry—the analysis technique applying the Analytic Network Process. The findings indicated that the most superior aspects in the behavioral cluster are innovation strategy, product strategy, promotion strategy, price strategy, and collusion strategy. Meanwhile, the result from the benefit, cost, opportunity, risk (BOCR) cluster, the order of aspects that best describes the condition of the halal food industry in Bangka Belitung, is an opportunity, benefit, cost, risk. It is hoped that there will be a joint commitment from policy-makers in supporting and encouraging efforts to develop the halal food industry in Indonesia. It is expected that industry agents can further optimize industrial behavior, especially promotion and collaboration strategies

    The impact of monetary policy on private capital formation in Nigeria: Autoregressive Distributed Lag Approach

    The study examines the impact of monetary policy on private capital formation in Nigeria from 1980 to 2020. The study adopts Keynes's theory of capital formation as its theoretical framework. The stationarity tests show a mixed level of stationarity among the variables. Consequently, the study employs ARDL as its estimation technique. The study reveals that Monetary Policy has a positive impact on Private Capital Formation in Nigeria. Based on the findings, the study recommends that the government should maintain the current  Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) to continue impacting Private Capital Formation positively. Secondly, the government should formulates appropriate policies that will ensure that the  Exchange Rate (EXCHR) is stable so that it can improve the level of Private Capital Formation in Nigeria. Lastly, the government should embark on policies that will curb inflation or help reduce the rate of inflation to increase the level of Private Capital Formation. Â

    Entrepreneurial interest in startup business based on entrepreneurial literacy and digital literacy

    It is the first empirical research that initiates a model for a growing interest in entrepreneurship among the younger generation based on the two most important literacy in the industrial era 4.0, namely digital literacy and entrepreneurial literacy. Specifically, the purpose of this research is to fill the research gap of the lack of research that examines the interest in entrepreneurship in startups based on digital literacy and entrepreneurial literacy as well as solving problems for the low interest in entrepreneurship in startup businesses among the younger generation. The sample of this research was 406 students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Jambi. It was collecting data using a questionnaire. The data analysis technique used Partial least square. The study results showed high entrepreneurial and digital literacy levels and student interest in entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurial and digital literacy has a positive and significant effect on the entrepreneurial interest of students. To foster entrepreneurial interest in startup businesses, it is necessary to provide entrepreneurial literacy to the younger generation, both formally and informally. It is also necessary to increase digital literacy with an education relevant to startup businesses among the younger generation

    Rural and urban poverty models on Sumatra Island

    This study aims to analyze rural and urban poverty on Sumatra Island, Indonesia, and its determinants. The variables tested in the model are HDI (Human Development Index), GRDP (Gross Regional Domestic Product), and per capita expenditure. The data used is panel data for the provinces on Sumatra Island in the period 2011 - 2019. The analysis tool uses a panel data regression model. The study results found that during the 2011 - 2019 period, the rural poverty rate on Sumatra Island was 11.68 percent, relatively higher than in urban areas, 9.22 percent. The poverty gap index and poverty severity index in rural areas are also relatively higher than in urban areas. The research results also found that the poverty level in rural areas is significantly affected by HDI, while the GRDP and per capita expenditure does not significantly affect

    This research aimed at analyzing 1) an effect of micro small and medium enterprises on entrepreneurship activity, 2) an effect of micro small and medium enterprises on its performance, 3) an effect of entrepreneurship on micro small and medium enterprises performance, 4) an indirect effect of micro small and medium enterprises credit to micro small and medium enterprises through Jambi Province. This research is conducted in Jambi Province by sampling approximately 276 business owners selected according to regional representatives with purposive random sampling. PLS-SEM analysis is used in this research in which the results are 1) micro small and medium enterprises credit has a positive and significant influence on entrepreneurship, 2) micro small and medium enterprises credit has a positive and significant to micro small and medium enterprises performance, 3) micro small and medium enterprises credit has significantly positive influence to micro small and medium enterprises performance, 4) the effect of entrepreneurship to micro small and medium enterprises performance are significantly positive

    Monetary and fiscal policy mix connectivity towards the business cycle in Indonesia

    This research is based on the magnitude of the influence of monetary and fiscal aspects, namely the money supply, exchange rates, government spending, and taxes on the business cycle in Indonesia. This study aims to examine the effect of the connection between the monetary and fiscal policy mix on the business cycle in Indonesia. For analysis purposes, secondary data was used in the form of time-series data from 1970–2017. The method used is the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) to see long-term and short-term relationships. In the estimation results, it is found that in the long-term period, the monetary variables (money supply and exchange rates) and fiscal variables (government expenditures and taxes) have a significant positive effect on the business cycle in Indonesia.In contrast, the monetary variables that have a significant effect in the short-term period are only the amount variable money supply. There are no fiscal variables that have a significant effect on the business cycle in Indonesia. The interaction of monetary and fiscal policies is still effectively implemented in Indonesia

    Willingness to participate analysis of urban waste management in West Sumatra, Indonesia

    Waste management shares the same purposes with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) target in 2030. This program encourages all countries to substantially reduce waste through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reuse its waste so that the sustainability of development can be achieved. The success rate of sustainable waste management is largely determined by the participation and behavior of people, households, and citizens in managing their waste. This study analyzes socio-economic factors and the role of social capital in affecting households' willingness to participate in waste management in West Sumatra’s urban areas. This study used National Socio-Economic Survey data in the Social Resilience module. The sample in this study is 1011 households spread across the urban areas of West Sumatra. Using logistic regression, this study found that per capita household expenditure, homeownership status, knowledge, and household involvement in mutual cooperation activities to clean up their environment significantly affect the probability of households participating in urban waste management. The relevant policy, such as implementing the 3R concept, namely reduce, reuse, and recycling is needed for the Sustainable Development Goals to be achieved

    Identifying spatial correlation and factors influencing regional economic growth in Southern Sumatra

    This study analyzes the spatial autocorrelation of economic growth and labor and the factors that influence economic growth between districts/cities in the Southern Sumatra region. The data used is secondary data sourced from the Bureau of Central Statistics. The method used is a quantitative approach by applying the Moran Index, LISA, and multiple regression models. This study shows that the spatial autocorrelation of economic growth did not occur in the Southern Sumatra region. Meanwhile, the spatial autocorrelation of labor occurs in this region so that it affects each other. This study’s finding that jointly the variables of potential market indicator, fixed capital investment, human capital, and labor force participation rate have a significant effect on GRDP. Likewise, partially the potential market indicators, capital fixed asset investment, human resources, and labor force participation rates have a positive and significant effect on GRDP

    Strategic priorities and accountability for allocating the state budget amid Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia

    This study explains about strategic priorities of state financial management for handling the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The impact of this pandemic has caused the country’s financial posture in the state budget to be unbalanced, where receipts have decreased while in state spending has increased very sharply. Such conditions imply that the state budget deficit's widening exceeds the limit set by the law. The method used in this research method is a descriptive qualitative approach using literature data that can provide analysis of strategies to change the state financial management amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The study concluded that the government's strategic response in abnormal situations is an extraordinary matter with budget allocation priorities aimed at public health and safety, including medical personnel, protection and social safety nets for vulnerable people, and protection among business people. However,  it requires accountable supervision, especially for the distribution of social assistance funds with experience prone to corruption practices so that it is not on target
