Law, Tradition, and Innovation in Islamic Preaching in the Medieval Muslim West during the Almohad Period
While the symbiosis between law, morality, and religion is generally true of premodern Islamic societies, the interrelation among them was unparalleled under Almohad rule in the Maghreb and al-Andalus. This article discusses how the so-called “Almohad sermon” epitomized this heightened legal-moral-theological interaction. It begins with an overview of Maliki law, the legal prescriptions that determined the juridical validity of preaching, and the problem of «innovation (bid‘a)» as it pertains to preaching and preachers. It then analyzes the innovations that
the Almohads introduced into the canonical sermon in order to propagate their revolutionary model of synthesized theological and juridical authority
Law as the Sermon: The "Sermones quadragesimales de legibus" of Leonardo Mattei da Udine (c. 1399-1469)
The participation of popular preachers in the creation and enactment of statutes in Italian towns of the Late Middle Ages is a phenomenon which has received significant scholarly attention. Less well known is the influence of laws and law-making on the preachers’ composition of
their own sermons. This article explores one such example where the influence of laws is prominently in evidence – the Sermones de legibus Lenten cycle of sermons of the Dominican Leonardo Mattei da Udine (1399-1469). Leonardo explored numerous subjects within the framework of eight forms of law, from natural and divine, to ecclesiastical and secular. But in addition to shaping the structure of these sermons, laws also formed the main content, with frequent references
to canon and Roman law. The article in particular focuses on a sermon on human laws, in which Leonardo expounded upon the obligations of those responsible for laws as well as those
subject to them, and elaborated on the law’s stance on forty issues (mirroring the forty fasting days of Lent). Leonardo upheld the superiority of canon law to secular law, but stressed that harmony among types of law would promote comparable social concord. By linking his advice and examples with laws, Leonardo imbued the sermons with authoritative voice and simultaneously grounded them in a practical, if basic, legal education for his audience – whether ruler, lawmaker, or common man
ENGLISH: This paper studies and publishes for the first time in the Appendix all the deeds of the trial held between 1338 and 1342 at the Florentine Mercanzia’s tribunal about the theft of a Dante’s manuscript belonging to Giovanni Villani, recognized by the chronicler in Florentine bookseller
Andrea Orselli’s ‘bottega’ and claimed by several witnesses, including the Dante commentator Andrea Lancia. So interesting for the very first circulation and fortune of the Commedia in Florence at the turn of the third and fourth decades of the fourteenth century, the archival documents on Villani’s ‘Dante’ have been examined here in the wider context of the historical-biographical relationship between the chronicler and the poet, in the specific context
of the procedural process and in the philological context of Commedia’s Florentine manuscript tradition during the first twenty years after Dante’s death, at the dawn of which this
very ancient deperditus of Dante’s poem dates. In the end this paper also defines Dante’s bookshelf into Villani’s library, to investigate the ways of reading and interpreting Dante’s works employed by the chronicler, by specific examination of his Dante’s biography and Nuova Cronica

Estudio descriptivo de los errores más frecuentes en la técnica inhalatoria
Patients with inhaled therapy have a high percentage of incorrect technique despite the importance of performing it properly.
Objective: To determine which are the most frequent errors in the self administration of inhaled therapy in our patients.
Methods: A descriptive study was conducted with a randomized sample of 60 patients. A face-to-face interview was carried out for the collection of data and errors in the technique by means of a check-list.
Results: 55% of the patients performed an incorrect technique. The most frequent errors were not to expel air pre-inspiration and not to perform apnea of more than 5 seconds. Adherence to inhaler therapy measured by the TAI was found to be good in 50% of patients and the noncompliance rate was 58.3%.
Conclusions: It is necessary to insist on the importance of very frequent errors. The need for re-education has been verified due to the poor performance of the technique by the patients. The most common type of noncompliance was the erratic, followed by the unconscious and the deliberate. In general, adherence to inhaler therapy is poor.

Development of biotransamination reactions towards the 3,4-dihydro-2H-1,5-benzoxathiepin-3-amine enantiomers
The stereoselective synthesis of chiral amines is an appealing task nowadays. In this
context, biocatalysis plays a crucial role due to the straightforward conversion of prochiral and racemic ketones into enantiopure amines by means of a series of enzyme classes such as amine dehydrogenases, imine reductases, reductive aminases and amine transaminases. In particular, the stereoselective synthesis of 1,5-benzoxathiepin-3-amines have attracted articular attention since they possess remarkable biological profiles; however, their access through biocatalytic methods is unexplored. Amine transaminases are applied herein in the biotransamination of 3,4-dihydro-2H-1,5-benzoxathiepin-3-one, finding suitable enzymes for accessing both target amine enantiomers in high conversion and enantiomeric excess values. Biotransamination experiments have been analysed, trying to optimise the reaction conditions in terms of enzyme loading, temperature and reaction times

Efficient analysis and optimization of reflectarray antennas for satellite telecommunication missions
This contribution describes a general framework for the optimization of very large reflectarrays for space applications. It employs the generalized Intersection Approach with a series of techniques to accelerate computations. In particular, a machine learning technique is used to obtain a surrogate model of the reflectarray unit cell. Also, the gradient computation is accelerated by employing differential contributions on the radiated field. Computations may also be accelerated with the NUFFT employing a non-uniform grid in the spectral domain. Finally, instead of optimizing the crosspolar pattern, the XPD or XPI are optimized, improving both the antenna and algorithm performance. Relevant numerical examples are provided to show the capabilities of the proposed framework and acceleration techniques. This work was supported in part by the European Space Agency (ESA) under contract ESTEC/AO/1-7064/12/NL/MH; by the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades under project TEC2017-86619-R (ARTEINE); by the Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad under project TEC2016-75103-C2-1-R (MYRADA); by the Gobierno del Principado de Asturias through Programa "Clarín" de Ayudas Postdoctorales / Marie Curie-Cofund under project ACA17-09.39th ESA Antenna Workshop on Multibeam and Reconfigurable Antennas for Space Application
Comparison between oxidative and non-oxidative torrefaction pretreatment as alternatives to enhance properties of biomass
Oxidative and non-oxidative torrefaction pretreatments are the most employed in order to enhance some properties of biomass such as hygroscopicity, low energy density, or poor grindability and so biomass could be a more competitive renewable energy source. The aim of this paper is to compare oxidative and non-oxidative torrefaction processes applying to a pine wood sample. Torrefaction in the range of temperatures 200–250ºC was conducted in a tube furnace reactor and proximate and ultimate analyses and heating value determination were carried out in order to characterize the torrefied samples. Torrefaction kinetics were obtained at three different temperatures using a thermogravimetric analyser. Both mass and energy yields in oxidative cases were lower as torrefaction temperature was increased compared to non-oxidative treatment. Heating value data of oxidative option were slightly lower than those of non-oxidative one were, although they were higher than the heating value of raw biomass. According to the proximate analysis, the moisture content decreased from 7.63% in raw biomass to 3.46% and 3.15% in pine torrefied at 250°C in oxidizing and inert atmospheres, respectively. H/C and O/C ratios decrease was more drastic for oxidative torrefaction than for non-oxidative one. In addition, the van Krevelen diagram shows that oxidative torrefaction is more interesting than non-oxidative alternative, this circumstance suggests that any optimizing criterion has to take into account at least three variables, including ultimate analysis and mass and energy yields.Programa "Severo Ochoa" de Ayudas Predoctorales del Principado de Asturias (PA-13-PF-BP13058)
