Fabrication and characterisation of MG-ZN alloys reinforced with CNF: a study on the sintering process
Nowadays, magnesium (Mg) based alloys have gained much interest due to its potential use as biodegradable implants for the application of fixation, screws and plates in orthopaedics field. The main problems of biodegradable implants made from pure Mg are its low strength and easily corrodible. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to analyse the sintering temperature of magnesium-zinc (Mg-Zn) alloys reinforced with carbon nanofibres (CNF) through mechanical and morphological structures. Pure Mg, Zn, and CNF was prepared via powder metallurgy (PM) method. The samples were mechanically alloyed using planetary ball mill to create finer powder. Next, the samples were compacted using the Instron machine for 10 minutes at room temperature to produce a 10 mm diameter cylindrical platelet. Then, the specimens were heated with an argon gas flow for 4 hours at different sintering temperatures. The results showed that the optimum sintering temperature for Mg-Zn alloys reinforced with CNF was at 250? with elastic modulus and yield strength of 2729.886 MPa and 140.628 MPa, respectively. The findings of this study concluded that Mg-Zn alloys reinforced with CNF composites have great potential to be used as new biodegradable implants for medical applications in the future
Development of 360-degree imaging system for fresh fruit bunch (FFB) identification
In every cycle of harvesting operation, farmer does not have any information on how many
bunches and which oil palm tree will be harvested. By introducing the 360? camera imaging
system, number of Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) can be determined for every tree in a plantation
area. Black bunch census was done manually to estimate yield. This was improved by video
acquisition using a high resolution 360? camera integrated with an image processing software
for video image processing to calculate number of FFB. Based on the standard planting
pattern, it is time consuming process to circle each tree to acquire the 360? view of each tree.
Current technology to approach bunches is destructive and conventional since the process
involve physical contact between workers and FFB. Thus, a new method was established by
the execution of All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) between rows in plantation area for video
acquisition. Images were extracted and threshold by using MATLAB software. L*, a*, and b*
color space was used for the bunch identification throughout 90 samples of images to identify
the mean intensity value. Model threshold verification for another 48 samples of images
resulted with Coefficient of Determination, R2 of 0.8029 for bunch identification. As a result, a
new method for video acquisition was established as well as processing method for bunch
identification for large scale plantation area

Isu yang mendapat perhatian masyarakat terhadap institusi zakat
adalah mengenai aspek agihan. Hal ini kerana masyarakat sering
mempersoalkan mengenai peruntukan yang besar daripada wang
zakat yang disalurkan terutamanya dalam agihan zakat pendidikan,
namun masih terdapat asnaf yang tercicir daripada menerima
bantuan. Tambahan pula, kos pendidikan yang semakin meningkat
menyebabkan terdapat pelajar yang tidak melanjutkan pelajaran ke
peringkat yang lebih tinggi selepas alam persekolahan. Lembaga
Zakat Negeri Kedah dipilih kerana mempunyai Sekolah Zakat Kedah
(SDK) dan beberapa transformasi produk agihan zakat pendidikan
yang memberi manfaat kepada asnaf. Timbul persoalan sejauh mana
produk agihan zakat pendidikan memberikan manfaat kepada asnaf?
Bagaimana ia dikenalpasti dan apakah proses yang perlu dilalui
sebelum sesuatu produk agihan ini disebarluas kepada asnaf yang
layak? Apakah kriteria dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi
keberkesanan dalam pengurusan agihan zakat pendidikan? Justeru,
kertas kerja ini bertujuan membincangkan secara terperinci mengenai
persoalan di atas. Kajian ini menggunakan metodologi penyelidikan
secara kualitatif iaitu dengan mengumpulkan data melalui kajian
kepustakaan dan kajian lapangan yang menggunakan kaedah
temubual tidak berstruktur. Hasilnya, kajian ini mendapati terdapat
beberapa proses yang perlu dilaksanakan oleh pentadbir zakat
bermula daripada fasa cadangan hinggalah kepada fasa penjenamaan
produk agihan zakat pendidikan. Selain itu, bagi meningkatkan
keberkesanan proses agihan, pihak LZNK juga berkolaborasi dengan
beberapa buah IPTA dan institusi lain bagi mendapatkan maklum
balas dan buah fikiran terhadap mekanisme sedia ada dan juga
perancangan strategik agihan zakat pendidikan pada masa akan
datang
Exploring the Conflict Management Process: A Case Study of the Department of Labor in Malaysia
Conflict is a phenomenon of negative emotional feelings and reactions that arise between parties with different opinions, ideas and views. Conflict in an organization is almost unavoidable. Conflict might happen between an employer and an employee when there is dissatisfaction or disagreement between them towards certain work situation. The employee sometimes does not have a mutual understanding with his employer regarding certain issue until the end. This will lead to the involvement of a third party to help them resolve the problem. In Malaysia, the Labor Department is responsible for managing conflict between an employee and his employer. To ensure that the conflict is being handled effectively and efficiently, it is crucial for the Labor Department to have a set of strategies to help them in the conflict management process. However, our preliminary investigation shows that no standard or specific work process is being used by the department. Every officer used their method in managing the conflict assigned to them. Thus, it caused the department not being efficient in handling the cases. To address this issue, this study explores the process of conflict management carried out and proposed a standard procedure of conflict management that can be used by the Labor Department. This research adopted the qualitative method using a case study approach and aimed to understand the elements involved in the process of conflict management. Data was collected using semi-structured interviews involving five respondents consists of officers in the department. The results of this research have identified nine elements in the conflict management process. Results from this research could be used by the Labor Department in strategizing their method of managing conflict handled by the department. By having a standardized method, officers could handle the task more smoothly, thus increase the efficiency of the department and customer satisfaction and help the department to continue to be competitive and able to serve their customer better in the future
A comparison study on ornament of rumoh Aceh in Aceh Besar and umah pitu ruang in Aceh Tengah
This study aims to describe the diversity of ornaments used in traditional house in Aceh Besar and Aceh Tengah. The diversity of ornaments was viewed through four approaches, including: the location of ornament used in traditional house, types of ornament, the basic form of geometric, and the function. The location of ornaments used in traditional houses Is divided into three parts, lower part (the feet of the building), middle part (the body of the building), and top (the head of the building). The type of ornament described the ategory of ornament. The basic form of ornament is a study that described the geometric type of ornament. Finally, the ornament function is to explain the aesthetic, meaning, and technical functions of using ornamentation. Rumoh Aceh and Umah Pitu Ruang are cultural assets and local identities of Aceh with all its local wisdom. This study was conducted as an effort to preserve the existence of ornaments in Aceh traditional house, especially in Aceh Besar and Aceh Tengah
