    Breeding is an effort to produce poultry breeds. To increase the qualified turkey breeds, itneeds to do firm selection to the turkey hatched eggs before hatching. The egg weight is the factorwhich influence the qualified turkey breeds. This study aimed to determine the comparison of eggweight on the fertility, weight loss, hatchability, and hatched weight of turkeys. This study washeld during a month on 1 March – 5 April 2013, located in Sukoharjo 1 Village, SukoharjoDistrict, Pringsewu Regency. The eggs used in this study were 30 turkey eggs for each treatment.The treatments consisted of egg weight T1 (70,00--74,99 g) and T2 (75,00--80,00 g). The eggstaken from 10 cages of turkey mother, three eggs from each cage. Data obtained from this studywas analyzed by using T-student Test with significant value. The result of this study showed thatthe comparison of turkey eggs weight of 70,00--74,99 g and 75,00--80,00 g were not significantlydifferent (P>0,05) on the fertility, weight loss, and hatchability. However, those weights weresignificantly different (P<0,05) on the hatched weight of turkeys

    This study aimed to determine the antibody titre against Newcastle Disease (ND) and Avian Influenza(AI) in laying duck of starter phase in Gadingrejo Subdistrict Pringsewu District, Lampung Province.This study has been conducted in December--January 2014. The method used in this study weresurvey method and sample collecting by method of purposive sampling. The data analysis used in thisstudy was descriptive analysis. Based on the result of Hemaglutination Inhibition (HI) test on AvianInfluenza in laying duck of starter phase in Gadingrejo Subdistrict, there were 38% ducks that showedseropositive result on AI with the score of 21 and the highest score of 25 from Wonodadi Village.There were 62% ducks showed seronegative result on AI (20). Based on the result of HI test ofNewcastle Disease in laying duck of starter phase in Gadingrejo Subdistrict Pringsewu District, therewere 5% ducks that showed seropositive result with the titre score of 23 and 95% ducks withseronegative result on ND (20). The level of uniformity on AI totally was granted the score of 38%and the level of uniformity on ND totally was 5%

    PENGARUH SUHU DAN LAMA THAWING DI DATARAN RENDAH TERHADAP KUALITAS SEMEN BEKU SAPI SIMMENTAL

    The purpose of this study was to determine temperature and duration of thawing in thelowlands the frozen semen of Simmental Cattle most optimal for use in IB. The study was conductedin March 2014, research was conducted using a completely randomized design with a 3x3 factorial.The first factor is the temperature (34°C, 37°C, and 40°C) and Factor II thawing time (10 seconds, 15seconds, and 20 seconds) with 3 replications. Parameters observed in this study is the motility ofspermatozoa and percentage of live spermatozoa. The data were analyzed using ANOVA andDuncan's test further the 5% level.The results showed that temperature and thawing significant (P<0,05) on sperm quality frozensemen of Simmental cattle, but has no interaction between them. Results of Duncan test (P<0,05) tothe most good quality spermatozoa obtained at 37ºC thawing temperatures, and thawing at 15 secondslong. Motility of spermatozoa at thawing temperatures 37ºC is 38.33% and thawing 15 seconds longis36.11%. The percentage of live spermatozoa at thawing temperatures 37ºC is40.78% and thawing 15seconds long is 38.33%

    Breeding Value is an evaluation of the quality of animal genetics for a certain character which isgiven relatively based on its position in population. This study aimed to determine the value ofheritability and repeatability of weaning weight of Kacang goats, to determine the weaning weightand the breeding value of each individual mather do, and to determine the individual mather dowhich had the highest breeding value of weaning weight. This study used survey method to obtainthe subject matters, which comprised 30 female parentstock which had recording of litter age,pedigree of males, and kids of female samples which had recording of birth weight, type of birth,type of maintenance, and weaning weight of the first and the second birth.The result of this study showed that the average of corrected weaning weight was 9,574±0,97 kg;the heritability value of weaning weight was 0,011±0,000; the repeatability of weaning weight was0,061; the average of breeding value of weaning weight was 9,613±0,02. Based on the result ofthis study, it was known that 19 (51%) of 30 female parentstock of Kacang goats had breedingvalue over the average, and 5 female parentstock with the highest breeding value of weaningweight were prioritized, they were female parentstock with codes D1 with breeding value was9,673; N1 was 9,633; H1 was 9,629; I1 was 9,629; S1 was 9,628 in the study location

    The research aimed to: (1) determine the response of estrous onset of Ongole Offspring at thevarious parities after the injection of prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) twice; (2) determine the responseof estrous duration of Ongole Offspring at the various parities after the injection of prostaglandinF2α (PGF2α) twice. The research was held in November until December 2012, located in PunggurDistrict, Central Lampung Regency, Lampung Province. This research used CompletelyRandomized Design (CRD) with three treatments and four replications. The treatments wereOngole Offspring heifers (P0); Ongole Offspring which have calved once (P1); and OngoleOffspring which have calved twice (P2). The variables observed was performed statistically byanalysis of variance on level of 5% or 1%. The result of the research showed that parity was notsignificantly different (P>0,05) on the estrous onset and the estrous duration of Ongole Offspringat the various parities after prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) injection twice. The estrous onset ofOngole Offspring at the various parities after the injection of prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) twice P0,P1, P2 in a row were 45,57; 43,26; 52,53 hours, whereas the estrous duration of Ongole OffspringPO P0, P1, P2 in a row were 13,58; 18,65; 15,72 hours

    The research aimed to: (1) determine the effect of parities on the precentage of estrous andconception of Bali cows after estrous synchronization with prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) injectiontwice; (2) determine the best parity of Bali cows after estrous synchronization with prostaglandinF2α (PGF2α) injection twice from the various parities of Bali cows.The research was held in November until February 2013, located in Sukoharjo II Village,Sukoharjo District, Pringsewu Regency. This research used Completely Randomized Design(CRD) with three treatments and four repetitions. The treatments were Bali heifers (P0); Bali cowswhich have calved once (P1); and Bali cows which have calved twice (P2). Hormone used for thesynchronization was Juramate® with doses of 500 μg/cow or 2 ml/cow intramuscularly. Data ofpercentage of estrous and conception was analyzed by using Chi-square on significant level of 5%.The result of the research showed that estrous percentages after prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α)injection twice of Bali Cows P0, P1, P2 were 100%. The conception percentage of Bali cows P0, P1,P2 in a row were 100%; 75%; 75%. Based on the advanced test of Chi-square, parity was notsignificantly different (P>0,05) on the percentage of estrous and conception of Bali cows after theprostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) injection twice

    This research used 287 cattle cows owned by 198 breeders, involve 3 sub-districts in Central Lampung District.This research aimed to determine factors affecting conception rate after oestrous synchronization in cattle cows inCentral Lampung District, Lampung Province in November 2012-Februari 2013.The result of this research showed that the conception rate cattle cows after oestrous synchronization in CentralLampung District was 60,53 %, included in less good category. The factors affecting conception rate after oestroussynchronization in Central Lampung District were the amount of pasture given which positively associate with thefactor amount of 0,020, the shape of cage wall which negatively associate with the factor amount of 1,473, thematerial of cage floor which positively associate with the factor amount of 0,701, the cage width which negativelyassociate with the factor amount of 0,062, & the breeding long time which positively associate with the factoramount of 0,057

    Thawing is a method by melting back of semen that had been frozen prior to artificialinsemination (AI). The temperature and duration of thawing has a major influence on the state of thespermatozoa, especially the integrity of spermatozoa in the semen. The combination of temperatureand duration of thawing that will either be able to prevent damage to sperm , so it still has a highfertility rate. In common, lowland is an area that has low temperature and humidity, so it will have aneffect of thawing’s temperature. The purpose of this study was to determine the temperature andduration of thawing of Brahman’s frozen semen which have the most optimal to get used inartificial inseminations in lowlands area.Research was conducted in March 2014 using a completely randomized design (CRD) with a3x3 factorial. The first factor is the temperature (34°C, 37°C, and 40°C) and Factor II is duration ofthawing (10 seconds, 15 seconds, and 20 seconds) with 3 replications. Parameters observed in thisstudy is the percentage of sperm motility and live spermatozoa. The results were analyzed usingANOVA and Duncan's test at the advanced level of 5 % and 1%. The results showed that temperatureand duration of thawing give effects to the quality of the frozen semen of Brahman cattle, but has nointeraction between them. The most good quality spermatozoa at a temperature of 40ºC spermmotility is 37,77% and the percentage of live spermatozoa is a 40,83%. Duration of thawing at 15seconds sperm motility is 38,33% and the percentage of live spermatozoa is a 39,77%

Its happen because every single litter has different power of absorbing the water.Closed house is closed cage that build for making a better environment inside the cage. The aim of theresearch was to : (1) Knowing the effect of litter of broiler performance, and (2) Finding the bes tlitterfor broiler performance on the closed house.It was conducted during 26 days since April 14, 2014 to Mei 10, 2015 at the PT Ramajayafarm’s on Krawangsari village, sub District Natar, South Lampung District. The chiken used wasbroiler strain cobb with trademark CP 707 product by PT. Chareon pokphand Indonesia tbk for 270chiken. Broiler start to get handling between age of 14 and 26 days.The research method was experimentally with Completely Randomized Design (CRD) weredivided into 3 step and repeated for 6 times, that is p1: rice hull; p2 : wood shavings; p3 : straw. Thedata were analysis with Analysis of Variance and if it shows 5%, then the analyze would be continuedto Ducan test.The result indicated that the treatmentis : (1) The effect of litter from rice hull, wood shavings,straw did not have significant effect (P>0,05) on performance (consumption, body weight gain, feedconversion and income over feed cost) broiler at closed house. (2) The effect varians of litter (ricehull, wood shavings, straw) at closed house having the same effect as consumption, body weight gain,feed conversion and income over feed cost (IOFC) for broiler finisher phas
