    RESPON FISIOLOGIS AYAM JANTAN TIPE MEDIUM DI KANDANG PANGGUNG DENGAN KEPADATAN BERBEDA

    This study was conducted from February to March 2011, in the chicken coop belonging to PT.Rama Jaya Lampung in the village of Jati Baru, Tanjung Bintang subdistrict , South Lampungregency. The chicken is a rooster who used a medium type strain MB 502. This study used acompletely randomized design (CRD), consisting of three treatments, with as many replicationssix times, namely R1: 16 tail cage density m-2, R2: 19 tail cage density m-2, and R3: density tailenclosure 22 m-2. The resulting data were analyzed with analysis of variance ,at the 5%significance level.Data obtained from the results of this study indicate that the density of the cage 16, 19, and 22 tailm-2 had no significant effect (P>0,05) on respiratory rate, rectal temperature and the temperature ofthe medium shank type rooster. The average value of respiratory frequency rooster different typesof medium density is the density of the tail enclosure 16 m-2 (R1) of 52,67 beats/min, the tail cagedensity 19 m-2 (R2) of 52,60 times/min, and cage density tail 22 m-2 (R3) of 53,80 beats/min, theaverage value of rectal temperature rooster type of medium in a different cage density is thedensity of the tail enclosure 16 m-2 (R1) of 39,85ºC, the tail cage density 19 m-2 (R2) of 39,85ºC,and the density of the tail enclosure 22 m-2 (R3) of 39,86ºC, and the average value of thetemperature of the medium shank type rooster coop at different densities, namely the tail cagedensity 16 m-2 (R1) of 37,69ºC, the density tail enclosure 19 m-2 (R2) of 37,67ºC, and the tail cagedensity 22 m-2 (R3) at 37,67ºC

    This study aims to optimize the utilization of agro-industry waste through supplementation ofhydrolyzed chicken feather and organic minerals in the ration as an effort to improve the digestibilityof crude protein and crude fiber in ruminant. This study used 3 beef cows. The experimental designused is a Latin square design 3x3 with 3 cows as a rows and 3 periods as columns. The treatmentgiven is R0: basal diet (30% + 70% forage concentrate) ; R1: basal diet + 3% hydrolyzed chickenfeathers ; R2: organic macro mineral (0.5% organic Ca, Mg 0.04% organic) and organic microminerals (40 ppm organic Zn, 10 ppm Cu organic, organic Se 0.10 ppm, and 0.30 ppm of organic Cr).The data obtained were tested by analysis of variance. The results showed that the effect of theaddition of hydrolyzate chicken feathers 3% NaOH and organic macro and micro minerals in the dietwas not significantly different (P> 0.05) on the digestibility of protein and crude fiber in the ration ofcattle rations

    This study aimed: 1) to optimalize the using of agroindustry by product through the hidrolyzedpoultry feather and organic mineral supplementation in ration to increase the digestion of cows; 2) todetermine the best effect of hidrolyzed poultry feather and organic mineral supplementation level toVFA and NH3 value in rumen liquid of cows.This study was conducted in August until October 2013 located in the Stall of Animal HusbandryDepartment, Faculty of Agriculture Lampung University. The analysis of feed stuff, VFA and NH3was conducted in Laboratory of Animal Feed, Animal Husbandry Department. This study used LatinSquare Design with 3 treatments and 3 replications. R0 = Bassal Ration, R1 = Bassal Ration + 3%hidrolyzed poultry feather, R2 = R1 + macro-organic Mineral (0,5% organic Ca, 0,04% organic Mg)and micro-organic Mineral (40 ppm organic Zn, 10 ppm organic Cu, 0,10 ppm organic Se, dan 0,30organic Cr).The data obtained were tested by analysis of variance ( ANOVA ) and was continued by usingLeast Significant Different (LSD) on significant level 5% and or 1%. The result of this study showedthat: the hidrolyzed poultry feather and macro-organic mineral supplementation (0,5% organic Ca,0,04% organic Mg) and micro-organic Mineral (40 ppm organic Zn, 10 ppm organic Cu, 0,10 ppmorganic Se, dan 0,30 organic Cr) were not significantly different (P>0,05) to VFA and NH3 value inrumen liquid of cows

    RESPON KECEPATAN TIMBULNYA ESTRUS DAN LAMA ESTRUS PADA BERBAGAI PARITAS SAPI BALI SETELAH DUA KALI PEMBERIAN PROSTAGLANDIN F2α (PGF2α)

    This research aims to response of onset estrus and estrus duration at various parity Bali cattle aftertwice injection of prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α). This research has been done in the Sukoharjo 2,Pringsewu District. The material is used as much as 12 cows, and the average weight rangeaverage cow is 285 kg. Methods of research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) withthree treatments, they are (P0), (P1) and (P2). Each other treatment was repeated four times, theyare 4 Bali cattle parity 0 or heifers, 4 Bali cattle 1 or cow that has begat 1 times, and 4 Bali cattleparity 2 or cows that have been lambing 2 times. Hormone’s name is prostaglandin F2α (Juramate®) at a dose of 2 ml / tail. The results showed that there were highly significant differences(P<0.01) in the treatment of P0 and P1 to P2, but no effect between P0 and P1 to speed the onsetof estrus, and the differences were highly significant (P <0.01) between treatment on P0, P1, andP2 to the long estrus. The average respon of onset estrus for each successive treatments are P0 =44.15 hours; P1 = 48.89 hours; P2 = 22.33 hours. The average of estrus duration areRespectively : P0 = 12.94 hours; P1 = 20.85 hours; P2 = 16.63 hours

    Estimated Real Producing Ability (ERPA) value are maximally estimated of the ability of mother doe, which is allegedly based onexisting perfomans. Producing ability for production capability of an animal which is closelyrelated with the value of Repeatability, the average production, many production records, and the averageproduction within a population. Calculations of ERPA are entering information such asthe average mother inkidbirth production which compared with the average of herdmate production. Herdmate are all parents within thesame farm, who had kidbirth in the same relative time, but not the half‒ brother of a father.The research was conducted on May 2013 until June 2013 in Sungai Langka village, Subdistrict Gedong Tataan,Pesawaran District. This research using a survey method by analyzing production records the birth of the first andsecond of the 30 samples of doe Etawah crossbreed. Analysis was performed by searching for weaning weightcorrected, the estimated value Repeatability and the value of ERPA weaning weight in Margarini farmer groupsgoat.The result said that the average of corection weaning weight PE goat is 19,48±1,47 kg. The value of repeatabilityweaning weight PE Goat gotten in the research is 0,57 and the average of value ERPA weaning weight PE goat is19,84±1,067 kg. Base on the result of research known 20 of 30 goat (66,6 %) mother doe PE has ERPA above ofaverage

    PERBANDINGAN NILAI MOST PROBABLE PRODUCING ABILITY KAMBING ETAWAH ANATAR KECAMATAN METRO SELATAN DAN METRO BARAT, KOTA METRO

    The Most Probable Producing Ability (MPPA) value is a maximum estimation of doe Etawahcrossbred reproduction ability. The objective of this research was to find out the differences of MPPAof Etawah goat breeding between South Metro and West Metro sub districts. This was a surveyresearch method to obtain research materials from 30 doe Etawah crossbred in each sub district thathad same age records when they gave birth their kid, and records of kid from their doe Etawahcrossbred samples including birth weight, type of birth, type of raising, body weight at weaning. Theresults showed that the difference values obtained between South Metro and West Metro were2.48±0.06 kg and 2.55±0.07 kg respectively for average birth weights; 20.18±0.64 kg and 21.10±0.85kg respectively for corrected weaning body weight; 0.49 : 0.37 respectively for repeatability value ofweaning body weight; 20.18±0.42 and 21.10±0.46 for average value of MPPA of weaning bodyweight respectively. The t-student test results showed that the values of corrected body weight andMPPA of Etawah crossbred in this research were the same (P≤0.05)

    This study aimed to: 1) determine the effect of the use of rice husk, rice straw and woodshavings as litter material on the physiological response of broiler finisher phase (14th days--harvest)in closed house, 2) determine the best type of litter material on the physiological response of broilerfinisher phase (14th days--harvest) in the closed house. This study was conducted over 26th days on15th April--10th May 2014 in closed house owned by PT. Rama Jaya Lampung Krawang Sari Village,Natar District, South Lampung regency. The design used was completely randomized design (CRD)with three treatments and six replications. The treatment consists of the type of litter material (ricehusk, wood shavings, straw and rice). Each experimental unit consisted of 15 birds and 18 plotsenclosure so broiler strain CP 707 is used as much as 270 tails. Sampling was conducted physiologicalresponses by 20% of the number of experimental units. The Data obtained was analyzed using a rangeof 5% significance level.Based on these results it can be concluded that: (1) the use of various types of litter materialson the physiological response of broiler did not significantly affect respiratory rate, heart rate, rectaltemperature and temperature shank, (2) there is no treatment of rice husk litter type material, shavingswood, and rice straw on the closed house best effect on respiratory rate, heart rate, rectal temperature,and temperature on broiler finisher phase shank

    This study was conducted in January 2014 in Bumi Agung District East Lampung Regency.This study aimed to determine the nutritional status of ongole cattle based on the feedstuff, nutrientcontent, and the management of feeding used by the ongole cattle breeder in Lampung Province.There were 15 breeders interviewed, came from three villages namely Margamulya (5 breeders),Donomulyo (5 breeders), and Lehan (5 breeders). This study used qualitative approach with surveymethod, then it was descriptively analyzed.The result of this study showed the feedstuff mostly in the form of pasture. Average dry matterconsumption was 7.32 kg/cow/day, even the dry matter need was 7.63 kg/cow/day, and averageprotein consumption was 0.76 kg/cow/day, even the protein need was 0.88 kg/cow/day. Can concludenutritional status of ongole cattle in Bumi Agung District East Lampung Regency has not therefare itfulfilled

    Egg production phase consists of two phases which first production phases and second productionphase. The first of production phase in turkeys began at the 6.5 to 7,0 months of hen age, the peakproduction phase mains 9-10 ages, while the second of production phase on the life is more than14 months of the hen age. Egg production in the first phase of production is higher than of eggproduction in the second phase production.This is caused by the ability of the reproductive organs in the first production phase better than thesecond phase. The research was carried out on 1 March-12April 2013 held at the Ranch turkeyPekon Sukoharjo Natural Partners I, Sukoharjo District, District Pringsewu. Eggs were usedduring the study were turkey eggs as much as 60 egge with an average weight of 68,83 g egg onegg production phase of the 7 months of age and 82.45 g in egg production phase at 14 monthsage. This study used 2 treatment design, namely the egg production phase 7 months of hen age(T1) and egg production phase 14 months of hen age (T2), each treatment consisted of 10experimental units and each unit consists of experiments 3 eggs. Data were analyzed usingStudent's t-test with a significance level of 5%. Treatment of egg production of the first and secondphase of the turkey parent age 7 months and 14 months did not affect significant (P> 0.05) onfertility, hatchability turkey, and hatchability, whereas the hatching weight significantly (P <0.05)the turkey egg

    The research aimed to determine the hematological profile (erythrocytes, leukocytes, andhemoglobin) of grower laying hens with different cage density and the best cage density. Thisresearch has been conducted in April 2014 using 210 grower laying hens 7--10 weeks in Varia AgungJaya Farm and Balai Veteriner Lampung. The treatment is given based on completely randomizeddesign (CRD), consisting of four treatments and five replications. The data was analyzed usinganalysis of variance on 5% significance level.The result of the research shows that the density of the cage 6,9,12, and 15 hens m-2 have notsignificant (P>0,05) on hematological profile (erythrocytes 1,04--2,74 x 106 mm-3; leukocytes 27,96--52,52 x 103 mm-3; and hemoglobin 6,40--8,20 g/dl)
