    KARAKTERISTIK KEFIR SUSU SAPI DENGAN INOKULUM RAGI TAPE

    Kefir is a fermented milk product that has the typical flavours (acids and alcohol) and its processed by a number of microbes which include lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and yeasts.The aims of this study were to know the character of the population of lactic acid bacteria (LAB), a population of yeasts, and chemical characters among others total acid, pH and alcohol levels in kefir milk with inoculum ragi tape. The population of LAB and the population of yeast were calculated with the method of calculation of Total Plate Count. The levels of total acid titration method were determined by the acid. Acidity was measured using a pH meter and alcohol levels were determined by the method of Conway Micro Diffusion. The results showed that the number of LAB has increased to 24 hour fermentations of 9.01 log cells/ml (1,1x109 cells/ml), then the number of cells did not change much until the fermentation time was 48 hours and 72 hours of fermentation on the decline of 8.07 log cells /ml (1,2x108 cells/ml) while the yeast experiences increased from 6 hours to 24 hours, then the amount of yeast did not much change from the 24 to 72 hours of the highest number of yeasts during fermentation 48 hours an amount of 6.12 log cells /ml (1,3x106 cells/ml) and the amount of yeasts did not decline at the time of 72 hours. Total acid continued to experience increased with the number of 0.38-1.24%, pH continued to decline from 6,47-4.27 and alcohol levels continued to experience increased with the number of 0.05-0.38% b/v. Keywords: Inoculum, Kefir Milk, Lactic Acid Bacteria, Ragi Tape, Yeas

    PRODUKTIVITAS HIJAUAN YANG DITANAM PADA NAUNGAN POHON KELAPA SAWIT DENGAN TANAMAN CAMPURAN

    This research intended to determine the effect of palm oil tree shade and mixed planting on grass and leguminous on productivity.  This research has been done on March—June 2018 in Tanjung Agung Area, Katibung District, Kalianda, South Lampung. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with split plot design method.  The treatment was implemented in this research is (1) shading, consist of two levels, which are N0 (without shade) and N1 (palm oil tree shade) and (2) mixed plant species, consist of two variations; which is A1 (elephant grass and purple bush bean) and A2 (dwarf elephant grass and purple bush bean).  The data which obtained were analyzed by analysis of variance on 5% significant level, then if the result significantly difference, it were analyzed with Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT).  The results showed that palm oil shading has not significant effect on grass productivity. there is an interaction between the type of grass and oil palm shade on the number of elephant grass and odot grass tillers. The dry matter of grass on mixed planting on land without shade was significantly different with dry matter of grass on mixed planting in palm oil shade.  However, it has tendency to increase organic matter of grasss on palm oil shade. Keywords: Palm Oil Shade, Elephant Grass, Dwarf Elephant Grass, Mixing Grass, Productivit

    PENGGUNAAN DAUN UBI KAYU (Manihot esculenta) DENGAN PENGOLAHAN BERBEDA TERHADAP PERFORMA KAMBING PERANAKAN ETAWA JANTAN

    The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the effect of fresh, dried or silage cassava leaf to the performances of male Etawa Crossbreed (EC) goats. Fourteen male EC goats (grouping based on body weight with a weight range K1: 19-20 kg; K2: 20-21 kg; K3: 21-22 kg; K4: 22 kg) were allocated in housed individually throughout 90-day trial duration (14 days for animal's adaptation to the experimental diets and 7 days of faeces collection). Experimental design was randomized complete block design consisted of 3 treatments and 4 replications: concentrate + fresh cassava leaf (T0); concentrate + dried cassava leaf (T1); and concentrate + silage cassava leaf (T2). Concentrat was given at level of 50% (3% BW) and forage was given ad libitum respectively for each treatments. Variables observed were feed intake, digestibility, body weight gain, and feed efficiency. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), if there were significant effect of treatments were continued using Duncan multiple range test. The results of this experiment showed that the processing of cassava leaf increased on dry matter intake, crude protein, total digestible nutrient (TDN), digestibility, body weight gain, and feed efficiency. The conclusions were processing of cassava leaves improved the consumption and digestibility of male EC goats and the treatment of cassava leaf silage had the best feed efficiency. Keywords: Cassava Leaf, Performance, Digestibility, Male Etawa Crossbreed Goat

    PERBANDINGAN SUHU LINGKUNGAN DAN PENGARUH PAKAN TERHADAP PRODUKTIVITAS SAPI PERAH DI DAERAH DENGAN KETINGGIAN BERBEDA

    This study was done to compare the environmental temperature and the effect of feed  management on dairy cattle productivity in KUTT Suka Makmur Grati Pasuruan. Primary data were collected by questionare based interview to the farmers at different height areas those were 40 farmers in lowland area and 40 farmers in highland area. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and quant itative methods. The results showed that temperatures in the lowlands were higher at around 24oC - 27oC, so cattle experiencing heat stress and the impact  was cattle consumed less feed, while the availability of  water was limited. In contrast, the highlands temperature was relatively low, about 22oC - 24oC. The cattle in highland was fed with elephant grass with a good nutrient content, so the cattle was able to produced well.  Keywords: Dairy Cattle, Environment, Feed Effect, Productivity, Temperatur

    EFEK UMUR PEMANGKASAN INDIGOFERA (Indigofera zollingeriana) PADA MUSIM KEMARAU TERHADAP KANDUNGAN NETRAL DETERGEN FIBER DAN ACID DETERGEN FIBER

    This research aims to determine the effect of harvest age Indigofera zollingeriana in dry season on the content of Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF) and Acid Detergent Fiber (ADF). This research used a completely randomized design with four treatments and three replications. The treatment consisted of harvest age at 40 days, harvest age at 55 days, harvest age at 70 days, and harvest age at 85 days. Data were analyzed using Variance Analysis and post-hoc test of Least Significance Different (LSD). The parameters consisted of NDF and ADF. The results of this research indicate that Indigofera zollingeriana which was harvested at 55 days has the highest NDF content (81.61%) and has significantly different (P <0.01) than the NDF content at harvest age of 40 days (70.93%), harvest age 70 days (68.80%), and at harvest age 85 days (67.23%). In addition, Indigofera zollingeriana that was harvested at 55 days has ADF content (56.68%) and at 70 days of harvest had ADF content (54.24%) that was significantly different (P <0.01) compared to ADF content at harvest age of 40 days by 48.35% and the harvest age of  85 days bay 49,41%.  It was concluded that Indigofera zollingeriana at the harvest age of 55 days in the dry season was the best harvest age with its NDF content of 81.61% and the ADF content of 56.68%. Therefore, it is recommended to plant Indigofera zollingeriana in the dry season, and it should be harvested at the harvest age of 55 days. Keywords:   Acid Detergent Fiber, Dry season, Harvest Age, Indigofera zollingeriana, Neutral Detergent  Fiber

    PERFORMA AYAM HASIL PERSILANGAN YANG DIBERI RANSUM KADAR PROTEIN DAN DOSIS HERBAL BERBEDA

    This study aims to determine the performance of F2 resulting from crossing (Layer Stud vs. Hatcher resulting in pullet F1, F1 mated with Layer Male, resulting in F2). Performance of F2 given ration with levels of Crude Protein (CP) 16% and 18%, as well as “Herbs“. The research was carried out in a Completely Randomized Design 2 x 4 factorial pattern. Protein factors were 2 kinds of rations with Crude Protein levels of 16% and 18% of metabolic energy 3062.40 and 3013.20 kcal/kg. Herbs factor were doses of herbal dosage 0, 1, 2, 3 g/kg ration. Each treatment was repeated 4 times. Data collection performance were include rationing, giving protein, egg weight, and chicken day production, and mild shells. The results showed those the level of crude and herbal protein had no interaction, and the level of crude protein which was different was not significant (P> 0.05) on feed consumption and was significantly different (P<0.05) against crude protein consumption. Herbal treatments with doses of 1, 2 and 3 g/kg of rations did not show significant differences (P> 0.05) on feed consumption, ration crude protein, egg weight, and thick shell, but significantly different (P<0.05) from the production of hen day at without herbal treatment. Keywords: Crossbreed, Herbal Ration, Herbs, Performance, Protein Ratio
