PREVALENSI CACING HATI SAPI PERAH PADA PETERNAKAN RAKYAT DI PROVINSI LAMPUNG
The study was conducted on dairy cattle livestock at Lampung Province in July - August 2012, aiming to determine the prevalence of liver worms. Disease in livestock caused by liver worm infections are called Fasciolosis. Fasciolosis is an important parasitic disease because it can cause high economic losses. The research method was the census method. Data retrieval were 125 dairy cattle faecal samples from people's dairy farms in Lampung Province. The datas obtained were analyzed descriptively. Examination of faecal samples was carried out at the Lampung Veterinary Center using the Sedimentation Test. The results showed the prevalence of liver worms in dairy cattle in Lampung Province was 12.00%, 15 dairy cattle those were positively infested by liver worms. The highest dairy cattle prevalence in West Lampung Regency at 33.33%, while the lowest prevalence is in dairy cattle in Bandar Lampung City and Tanggamus Regency at 0%. SURVEI SEROLOGIS TOXOPLASMOSIS PADA TERNAK KAMBING (Capra sp.) DENGAN METODE TOXOPLASMA MODIFIED AGLUTINATION TEST (To-MAT) DI DESA PURWOSARI, KECAMATAN METRO UTARA, KOTA METRO
Toxoplasmosis is a zoonotic disease caused by parasitic protozoa, Toxoplasma gondii. Transmission of toxoplasmosis can occur through direct infection, ie when humans eat meat from infected animals and are eaten half-cooked. Goats are one of the most half-cooked animals such as satay. In the city of Bandarlampung the prevalence of toxoplasmosis in goats circulating in the community reached 60%. This study aims to determine the prevalence and level of toxoplasmosis infection in goat livestock in Purwosari Village, Metro Utara. This research was conducted from November to December 2018. This type of research was descriptive using serological with the To-MAT (Toxoplasma Modified Aglutination Test) method. The result of the study found that in Purwosari, Metro Utara the prevalence of toxoplasmosis in goats circulating in the community reached 96,67%. Keywords: Capra sp., To-MAT Method, Toxoplasmosi
PERBANDINGAN KONSENTRASI PROGESTERON SELAMA SIKLUS BIRAHI PADA DOMBA WARINGIN YANG DIINDUKSI PGF2α DAN KOMBINASI PGF2α DAN GnRH
This study aimed to compare the progesterone concentrations in Waringin sheep estrus cycle which induced by PGF2α or the combination of PGF2α and GnRH. This study used six Waringin sheep those were divided into twice groups, K1 and K2. K1(n=3) were injected by 7.5 mg PGF2α intramuscularly for 10 days, while K2 (n = 3) were injected by PGF2α and GnRH. On the first day K2 were injected by 7.5 mg PGF2α, then followed by injection 50 µg of GnRH on day 8th and re-injected by 7.5 mg PGF2α on day 15th. On day 18th, sample was re-injected using 50 µg GnRH. Waringin sheep those showed estrus symptoms were detected visually and with signs showed by sheep stud. Blood samples were taken on the 7th, 14th, and 21st day after the peak heat. The measurement of progesterone concentration was conducted by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The results showed those the concentrations of progesterone on day 7th, 14th, and 21st on K1 vs K2 were 1.324±1.079, 7.607±8.922, and 5.220±1.653 vs 4.705±3.369, 4.184±5.512, and 1.797±0.898 ng/mL (P>0,05), respectively. In conclusion, the concentration of progesterone of Waringin sheep after inducing with PGF2α or combination PGF2α and GnRH at different cycle periode did not show differences. PENGGUNAAN KALIANDRA (Calliandra calothyrsus), Indigofera sp. DAN CAMPURANNYA DALAM RANSUM SEBAGAI PENGGANTI KONSENTRAT TERHADAP PRODUKTIVITAS DOMBA GARUT JANTAN
This research aimed to determine the productivity of livestock. Feed availability in the dry season is one of the causes low productivity of livestock. Calliandra calothyrsus (C. calothyrsus) and Indigofera sp. are leguminosae plant that resistant to drought and could produce high productivity. Both can be used as a sustainable animal feed and reduce production costs. The animal used was weaned male sheep. The method used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with six treatments (P0 : 70% Grass + 30% Concentrate, P1 : 70% P. Grass + 15% Concentrate + 15% C. calothyrsus, P2 : 70% Grass + 15% Concentrate + 15% Indigofera sp., P3 : 70% Grass + 30% C. calothyrsus, P4 : 70% Grass + 30% Indigofera sp., P5 : 70% Grass + 15% C. calothyrsus + 15% Indigofera sp.) and four replication. The observed variables were dry matter consumption, average daily gain (ADG), and feed conversion. The results showed that the used of 15% C. calothyrsus and 15% Indigofera sp. was more efficient. The highest value of dry matter consumption (P<0,05) and average daily gain (P>0,05) obtained P5 treatment, respectively 508,80 g/day and 45,36 g/day, while the lowest value of feed conversion (P>0,05) obtained P0 (11,69) which was not significantly different with P5 (11,75).
