Improving Nutritional Quality of Turbinaria murayana Seaweed with Fermentation Technology using Local Microorganisms as Poultry Feed
The purpose of this study was to increase the nutritional content of brown seaweed type Turbinaria murayana by using fermentation methods using different local microorganisms (MOL) as ingredients for poultry feed. The material used is brown seaweed type Turbinaria murayana taken from Sungai Nipah Beach, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra Province and MOL as an inoculum. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with six treatments and four replications. The treatment was fermentation using different MOLs, namely No MOL (Control), Bamboo Shoot MOL, Rice MOL, Fruit MOL, Vegetable MOL and Banana Weevil MOL. The results showed that fermentation of brown seaweed type Turbinaria murayana using different MOL had a very significant effect (P≤0.01) on the levels of dry matter, crude fibre, crude protein and crude fat. The best improvement in the nutritional quality of fermented Turbinaria murayana seaweed was found in the fermentation treatment using fruit MOL with the nutritional content of 95.17% dry matter, 5.27% crude fiber, 21.43% crude protein, and 2.41% crude fat
Relationship between First Calving Friesian Holstein Age and Days Open With Milk Production of Dairy Cows FH on Second And Third Lactation in BPPIB TSP Bunikasih Cianjur
The purpose of this research was to know the performance and relationship between age at first calving and days open with the production of dairy milk FH on second and third lactation. The research was started on the first week to the second week of October 2020 in BPPIB TSP Bunikasih Cianjur West Java. The study used correlational methods and data analysis using multiple linears. The results showed that the age of the first child and days open with milk production of dairy cows FH on second and third lactation in BPPIB TSP Bunikasih Cianjur West Java has a correlation of 0,029 and -0,316 included low categories. The model of alleged regression equation for second lactation is 6231,29 – 798,66 X1 + 4,54 X2 with a value of R = 6,6%. The model of alleged regression equation for third lactation is 1729,59 + 31,321 X1+ 15,491 X2 with a value of R = 35,1% and standard errors are 3,71 and 3,41, respectively. It was concluded that milk production in BPPIB TSP Bunikasih Cianjur was more than 64 percent influenced by other factors beyond the age factor of the first child and days open of FH cows
The Intake of Total Digestible Nutrient, Digestibility of Dry Matter and Organic Matter of Lactating Cows that Get Supplements of Curcuma xanthorriza Roxb
The study aimed to examine the effect of herbal supplement in the form of curcuma flour on intake of total digestible nutrient, dry matter and organic matter digestibility of lactation cows. The material used was 12 lactating cows. The study used a randomized block design with 2 treatments and 6 groups based on milk production. The treatments applied were T0 = basal feed and T1 = basal feed + curcuma supplement (1% DM). The parameters observed included the amount of feed consumption and digestibility of dry matter and organic matter. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA. The results of this study showed that the addition of 1% curcuma supplement (1% DM) into the diets of lactating cows has no significant effect (P> 0.05) on total intake of digestible nutrient, dry matter and organic matter digestibility. The average of TDN intake in T0 and T1 were 10.61 kg and 10.67 kg on DM basis, respectively. The dry matter digestibility of T0 and T1 groups were 60.89% and 59.20%, respectively. The organic matter digestibility in T0 and T1 were 57.46% and 55.59%, respectively. The addition of curcuma supplement 1% of DM in the diet of lactating cows has not been able to increase the intake of total digestible nutrient, dry matter and organic matter digestibility
The Nutritional Value of Fermented Banana Peels using Different Levels of Palm Sap
Banana peels are banana processing wastes that can be used as poultry feedstuff, but bacause of its high crude fiber content, so to reduce the high crude fiber content it need processing such as fermentation. Fermentation process requires soluble carbohydrates such as palm sap. This research aimed to evaluate the effect of different levels of palm sap as an additive on the nutrient composition of banana peels. An experimental method was used in this research with a completely randomized design consisted of five treatments and four replications. The five treatments were banana peel with 0%, 12,5%, 15%, 17,5% and 20% addition of palm sap. The parameters measured were dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, fat, and ash content. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance and followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results showed that increasing levels of palm sap reduced the content of dry matter, crude fiber and crude fat, increased crude protein content, but it did not affect the ash content of banana peels. The use of 20% of palm sap produced the highest protein content and the lowest crude fiber content
Nutrition of Wafer Produced from Silage of Cabbage Vegetable Waste and Rice Brain With Different Packaging Types
The wafer packaging process is necessary in maintaining quality during storage and transportation. This study aimed to evaluate the nutritional quality of the wafers produced by silage from various combinations of cabbage vegetable waste and rice bran which were stored using different types of packaging. This research method used factorial design (4x2) with 2 replications. The first (A) factor was the composition of the silage of cabbage and rice bran waste (A0: 100% cabbage waste; A1: 75% cabbage waste + 25% rice bran; A2: 50% cabbage waste + 50% rice bran; A3: 25% cabbage waste + 75% rice bran), while second factor (B)was the type of packaging (B0: plastic packaging; B1: gunny sack packaging). The results showed that the composition of the silage of cabbage and rice bran waste had a very significant effect (P <0.01) Dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber and BETN content of wafers produced. The type of packaging was also had a very significant effect(P <0.01) on dry matter, crude protein, and crude fiber content of the wafer and there was an interaction between materials composition of silage and types of packaging in producing wafer ash. The conclusion of this research is that the substrate composition of 25% cabbage vegetable waste + 75% rice bran and gunny sack packaging could maintain the nutritional quality of the wafers
The Effect of Altitude on Broiler’s Litter Microbical Quality that Cultivated at Closed House
This study aims to assess the quality of microbiology which includes the number of bacteria, mould, gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria found in broiler chicken litter kept in closed-house. The material used is chicken litter taken from 15 farms in Demak (0-100 masl), Semarang (100-300 masl), and Kendal (300-500 masl). This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 5 replications. The results showed that height had a significant effect (P <0.01) on total bacteria and mould in broiler chicken litter. The types of gram-positive bacteria found in the chicken litter are rods (Lactobacillus, and Bacillus), round stems (Clostridium), and coccus (Streptococcus thermophilus). A type of gram-negative bacteria found on rod-shaped stretchers belong to the Coliform and Pseudomonas families. The conclusion of this study is that land elevation has an effect on the microbiological quality of broiler chickens kept in closed cages.
Accuracy of Predection Models in Determining Digested Protein and Total Digestible Nutrient on Local Ewes Ration containing Melinjo Peel
The evaluation of digested protein and total digestible nutrient in rations containing melinjo peels could be done using several prediction models, but testing was needed to determine the level of accuracy. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of the prediction formula for protein digestibility and total digestible nutrient from rations containing melinjo peels of 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. Sixteen local ewes aged 11-12 monts with an initial body weight of 22.56 ± 1.46 kg were used to evaluate the value of digested protein and total digestible nutrient. The observational data were used to calculate the ratio of prediction to deviation value in assessing the accuracy of various prediction models for digested protein, namely Wardeh (1981) and Knight's and Harris (1966) models, while total digestible nutrient, namely Sutardi (2001), Wardeh (1981), and Harris et al. (1972) models. Wardeh (1981) and Knight and Harris’s (1966) digestible protein model, yielded ratio of prediction to deviation values of 3.28 and 3.37, respectively. Meanwhile, the ratio of prediction to deviation value on total digestible nutrient respectively from the highest value was Sutardi (2001), Wardeh (1981), and Harris et al. (1972) of 4.57, 3.68 and 1.91. In conclusion, Knight and Harris's (1966) digestible protein and Sutardi's (2001) total digestible nutrient model were the most accurate
Level of Consumer Trust in Online Store in Purchase of Animal Products during The Covid-19 Pandemic in Padang City
Early in 2020, the world was shocked by the spreading of the Coronavirus from Wuhan China. To mitigate the spread of Covid-19, the Indonesian Government has implemented Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) throughout Indonesia. PSBB limits the people's movement in Indonesia, including the citizen in Padang city to fulfil their animal protein consumption. The limited movement of the Padang city people has made the citizen begin to purchase animal protein products through online shops. Based on those circumstances, this study aims to measure the level of trust of costumers who fulfil their animal proteins consumption through online stores. The research conducted using a survey method. The respondents were 150 Padang city housewives who were determined by convenience sampling. The research instrument used a questionnaire with a Likert scale. The scores calculated and categorized using a range formula. The results showed that the respondents' trust in the online store was in the high category, with 82.00%. The level of respondents' trust in the urgency of shopping at online stores was in the high category, with a percentage of 73.33%. Level of trust in the reputation and quality of online shop sites was in high category with a percentage of 62.00%. Level of trust in the quality of service provided by online shop sellers was in the high category with a percentage of 70.67%. Level of respondents' trust in making payment transactions is at a high category with a percentage of 84.00%. Level of respondents' in promotions provided by online sellers was in the high category with a percentage of 72.67%. It concluded that a high level of customer trust in the online store will provide satisfaction in purchasing the product, making costumers want to make purchases continuously and turn to be loyal consumers of the online store
Black Soldier Fly Larvae (Hermetia illucens) as a Waste Reduction Agent and an Alternative Livestock Feed
Black Soldier Fly or Hermetia illucens is an insect that is currently being studied for its characteristics and nutrient content. Black Soldier Fly comes from America which spreads to subtropical and tropical regions. BSF larvae could be develop, grow, in a various organic waste media, because their high tolerance in a pH fluctuation. Some of factors that determine the success of animal feed are the quality and nutrient content itself. The livestock industry is the largest component in the business of providing animal feed reach of 50-70%. The important component in animal feed is protein. Protein content plays an important role in body metabolism, tissue formation, and growth rate. This research aimed to detect nutrient content of BSF larvae with use of various organic waste as their growth media. Analysis of nutrient content (proximate) in larvae includes protein (Kjeldahl method), lipid (Soxhlet method), carbohydrate, and water content. The proximate analysis obtained showed the differences in each type of waste media with the average values of protein, carbohydrates, and fats, respectively, 42.63%, 21.47%, 21.38%. Protein content is the highest element in BSF larvae in all types of growing media
