Series-Parallel Connection of Low-Voltage Sources for Integration of Galvanically Isolated Energy Storage Systems

    Get PDF
This work explores the Series-Parallel Connection of a Low Voltage Supercapacitor Module to obtain a Hybrid Energy Storage System for grid support applications. The Hybrid System is formed by the Supercapacitor Module itself, intended to ensure fast performance upon peak power requirements, together with a battery that provides the energy requirements. In the full system, the front end converter and the load interfacing converter share a common DC link. The battery is connected to the DC link by means of a Full-Bridge Current- Source bidirectional DC-DC converter. The Supercapacitor Module is connected to the system using a Series-Parallel Configuration, which overcomes the main problems that arise with the most common topologies found in the literature. The full operation of the system has been demonstrated theoretically and by simulations. A demonstration of such connection is shown experimentally, in a converter operating at reduced power levels, in order to validate the feasibility of the system. Conclusions show how this scheme can be used in Hybrid Storage Systems.

    Get PDF
Since the middle of the last century, public administrations have been conducting photographic flights in order to meet the needs of a variety of different departments. The great value of such documentation is safeguarded and supported by a number of regional and national projects such as the PNOA (National plan of Aerial Orthophotography) Historical Project The aim of this project was to develop a methodology for the production of orthophotographs based on historical photographs using the latest photogrammetric tools in order to minimize the personnel involved in the manual phases of the project as well as to reduce production times. There have been several tests of new photogrammetric tools based mainly on techniques such as SFM (structure from motion), with its origins in computer vision, creating new possibilities to streamline the production process as a whole. Commercial tools like Smart3D capture, 3D flow, Autodesk 123D, Photoscan Pro, Pix4d, in addition to free software tools like Bundler, VisualSFM, OpenCV orMatlab libraries allow for the acceleration of the production process in the relative orientation phase. However, the problem of manual identification of control points in order to control points in order to control all of the variables of an adjustment block, camera aberrations, film deformation and scanning, among others, still remain. Thanks to the digital processing of existing historical cartographic products generated from photogrammetric flights using orthorectified lenses, the task of identifying checkpoints in current cartographic products of higher resolution are provided which help determine the calibration parameters of unknown cameras.

Prognostic significance of inflammatory factors expression by stroma from breast carcinomas

    Get PDF
The aim of this work was to evaluate the expression and clinical relevance of some cytokines in breast carcinomas. An immunohistochemical study using tissue arrays and specific antibodies against interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-6, IL-10, IL-17, interferon β (IFNβ) and nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB), was performed in 108 breast carcinomas. Most studied cytokines were mainly expressed by cancer cells, but also by stromal cells as cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) or mononuclear inflammatory cells (MICs). Global expression (score) of IL-1β and IL-17 was positively associated with histological grade; HER-2-positive tumors showed a higher global expression of IFNβ but a lower global expression of NFκB; and node-negative tumors showed a higher global expression of IL-6. High score of IL-6 was significantly associated with both longer relapse free-survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS). Moreover, the expression of IL-1β by each stromal cells (CAFs and MICs) was significantly associated with both longer RFS and OS; whereas the expression of IL-10 by these cells was significantly associated with both shorter RFS and OS. However, the combination of IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-10 expression by MICs reached an important association with prognosis and improved our previously reported prognostic signification based on the MMP-11 status by MICs. The combination of IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-10 expression by MICs was significant and independently associated with distant relapse-free survival in a multivariate analysis. Therefore, the combination of the expression of IL-1, IL-6 and IL-10 may serve as promising biomarkers of MICs with prognostic significance, contributing to a better characterization of breast carcinomas microenvironment

Negación metalingüística y estructura oracional. Análisis sintáctico-pragmático de non

    No full text
There are two words in Central and Western Asturian, non and nun, that have traditionally been considered variants of the same linguistic item. However, the differences in their syntactic distribution (Martins 2010, 2014) and their pragmatic and discursive value (Ducrot 1972, Horn 1989) prove the existence of two different negative items. The application of the tests proposed by Horn (1989) and Martins (2010, 2014) bring to light that nun is an internal negative marker (also called sentential or regular negation) that affects the internal structure of the sentence, meanwhile non is a peripheral metalinguistic negative marker, external to the sentential structure, which is used to refute a previous utterance. The status of peripheral marker attributed to non allows us to reduce the number of combinations and sequences, apparently heterogeneous to a basic syntactic structure in which the arrangement of the constituents is closely related to the processes of topicalization and focalization caused by the word non.Programa Marie-Curie-Clarín-Cofund (2014-2016) Universidade de Lisboa, Faculdade de Letras, Centro de Linguístic

SuperJunction Cascode, a Configuration to Break the Silicon Switching Frequency Limit

    Get PDF
This paper evaluates the SuperJunction MOSFET in cascode configuration with a low-voltage silicon MOSFET. The structure combines the good switching performance provided by the cascode configuration with advantages of the silicon technology as the robustness, the maturity and the low-cost. The objective of this paper is to elucidate and to demonstrate the reduction of switching losses of SuperJunction MOSFETs in cascode configuration with respect to their standalone counterparts (directly driven). A detailed simulation analysis of power loss contributions is carried out under hard-switching operation. Eventually, experimental evidence is provided by using a boost converter (100 V-to-400 V) in continuous conduction mode for a wide range of switching frequency (100 kHz-to-400 kHz) and output power (180W-to-500W).This work has been supported by the Spanish Government under Project MINECO-13-DPI2013-47176-C2-2-R, MINECO-15-DPI2014-56358-JIN, the scholarship FPU14/03268 and the Principality of Asturias under the grants “Severo Ochoa” BP14-140 and by the Project FC-15- GRUPIN14-143 and by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) grants
