Using UAS optical imagery and SfM photogrammetry to characterize the surface grain size of gravel bars in a braided river (Vénéon River, French Alps)
This paper explores the potential of unmanned aerial system (UAS) optical aerial imagery to characterize grain roughness and size distribution in a braided, gravel-bed river (Vénéon River, French Alps). With this aim in view, a Wolman field campaign (19 samples) and five UAS surveys were conducted over the Vénéon braided channel during summer 2015. The UAS consisted of a small quadcopter carrying a GoPro camera. Structure-from-Motion (SfM) photogrammetry was used to extract dense and accurate three-dimensional point clouds. Roughness descriptors (roughness heights, standard deviation of elevation) were computed from the SfM point clouds and were correlated with the median grain size of the Wolman samples. A strong relationship was found between UAS-SfM-derived grain roughness and Wolman grain size. The procedure employed has potential for the rapid and continuous characterization of grain size distribution in exposed bars of gravel-bed rivers. The workflow described in this paper has been successfully used to produce spatially continuous grain size information on exposed gravel bars and to explore textural changes following flow events.
Objective: To determine the relationship of the familiar history alcohol consumption and the teen alcohol consumption.
Material and methods: Correlational-descriptive study in 278 adolescents of a public institute of basic education of Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche, Mexico, it was conducted a stratified random sampling; for data collection was used Alcohol Consumption Familiar History Inventory and Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT). Capture and analysis was performed in SPSS V 23.
Results: Was identified a positive and significant relationship of alcohol consumption familiar history and the AUDIT sum (rs= 164, p=.025) and with the amount of alcohol consumed by teens (rs=.181, p=.005).
Conclusion: The study findings show that the family plays a primary role in the acquisition of healthy and unhealthy behaviors in adolescents. Therefore, it is required that the nursing professional design and implement nursing interventions that include family and teenagers in promoting healthy lifestyles.

Zinc-Catalyzed Synthesis of Allylsilanes via Si–H Bond Insertion of Vinyl Carbenoids Generated from Cyclopropenes
Allylsilanes have long been recognized as valuable building blocks for organic synthesis. A zinc‐catalyzed reaction of cyclopropenes and hydrosilanes provides a convenient route to these versatile unsaturated organosilanes. In this transformation, ZnBr2 serves as an efficient catalyst, allowing the generation of a zinc vinyl carbenoid intermediate, which is subsequently involved in a Si−H bond insertion. The process shows broad scope, and is amenable to substituted and functionalized cyclopropenes or the functionalization of polysiloxanes. Moreover, zinc‐catalyzed carbene insertion into a Ge−H bond is reported for the first time

The Role of Sublexical Variables in Reading Fluency Development among Spanish Children
Several studies have found that after repeated exposure to new words, children form orthographic representations that allow them to read those words faster and more fluently. However, these studies did not take into account variables related to the words. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of sublexical variables on the formation of orthographic representations of words by Spanish children. The first experiment used pseudowords of varying syllabic structure and syllabic frequency. The stimuli for the second experiment were formed with or without context-dependent graphemes. We found that formation of orthographic representations was influenced by syllabic structure (easier for words with simple syllabic structure) and the context-dependency of graphemes (easier in the absence of context-dependent graphemes), but not syllabic frequency. These results indicate that the easier it is to read a word, the easier it is to form an orthographic representation of it.This study was funded by Grant PSI2012-31913 and PSI2015-64174-P from the Spanish Government and supported by a predoctoral grant (BP14-038) from the Foundation for the Promotion of Applied Scientific Research and Technology in Asturias (FICYT)
Aqueous Phase Conversion of Hexoses into 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural and Levulinic Acid in the Presence of Hydrochloric Acid: Mechanism and Kinetics
The kinetics of the acid-catalyzed dehydration
of two common monosaccharides (glucose and fructose) to 5-
hydroxymethyl-furfural (HMF) and levulinic acid is studied in
this work. Reaction studies were performed in a stirred batch
reactor using aqueous sugar solutions (150 g/L). The
influence of reaction temperature (363−403 K) and catalyst
concentration (0.05−0.25 mol/L) was also studied. The
formation of the main products, as well as other minor
products such as humins (in both cases) or glucose dimers and
anhydroglucose (in glucose processing), is modeled considering
a serial-parallel scheme reaction. The proposed model
allows predicting the formation of both main and side
products. Obtained results suggest that it is possible to work at total conversions of both monosaccharides, and to tune the
selectivity to HMF-LA by changing the operation temperature and/or catalyst concentration. As a general trend, higher
selectivities are obtained (to HMF or to LA, depending on reaction conditions) when fructose is used as a reactant. By contrast,
glucose dehydration leads to a larger amount of side products such as anhydroglucose and glucose oligomers
