Introduction The consumption of psychoactive substances or drugs by women has negative effects on their health. However, in case of pregnancy, problems will arise in the development of the fetus and dependence on the newborn, which may develop the Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome. Description Addiction to drugs during pregnancy has consequences in the development of the fetus and can cause dependence on the neonate, resulting in the Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, which is characterized by a set of symptoms and signs of hyperexcitability due to cessation of addictive substances. The nurse has an important role, not only in the early recruitment of pregnancy women who are consuming addictive substances, but also in the care of the nerwborn with neonatal abstinence. Conclusions Well-trained nurses play an important role in early detection of pregnant women with addiction and in the assessment of susceptible newborns to develop Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, as well as in the care of those who have already developed it, to minimize the effects and to help to improve the newborns’ well-being.

Cooperative Control in a Hybrid DC/AC Microgrid based on Hybrid DC/AC Virtual Generators

    Get PDF
This paper deals with the dynamic control of the DC bus voltage and the AC voltage magnitude and frequency in a hybrid DC/AC Microgrid (MG). In order to allow a high penetration of renewable energies, provide an increased system reliability during islanding and reduce the dependency on the mains, Energy Storage Systems (ESSs) are included in both the DC and AC grids. The MG is composed by a multiport solid-state-based transformation center, with connexion to the mains and a central battery energy storage system (BESS), and a flexible number of AC Nanogrids (NGs) coupled to a Low Voltage DC bus (LVDC) through DC/AC 3-phase Power Electronic Converters (PECs) operated as grid forming, hereinafter referred as Nanogrid Head Converters (NGHCs). The MG control presents two main characteristics: 1) A DC bus regulation scheme is proposed based on DC virtual generators and P/V DC droop that allows to adapt the participation in the power sharing for DC bus regulation and provides with an automatic transition between grid connected and islanding modes; 2) In order to provide a cooperative operation between the different AC NGs, allowing the automatic power sharing between them through the DC bus, a DC/AC virtual generator control scheme, based on the theory of Virtual Synchronous Machines (VSM), is proposed for its implementation in the NGHCs, thus coupling the control of the LVDC and the NGs. The theoretical discussion is supported with simulations.PCTI-FICYT FEDER Ministerio de economía y competitividad (España)2018 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE

Comparison between oxidative and non-oxidative torrefaction pretreatment as alternatives to enhance properties of biomass

    Get PDF
Oxidative and non-oxidative torrefaction pretreatments are the most employed in order to enhance some properties of biomass such as hygroscopicity, low energy density, or poor grindability and so biomass could be a more competitive renewable energy source. The aim of this paper is to compare oxidative and non-oxidative torrefaction processes applying to a pine wood sample. Torrefaction in the range of temperatures 200–250ºC was conducted in a tube furnace reactor and proximate and ultimate analyses and heating value determination were carried out in order to characterize the torrefied samples. Torrefaction kinetics were obtained at three different temperatures using a thermogravimetric analyser. Both mass and energy yields in oxidative cases were lower as torrefaction temperature was increased compared to non-oxidative treatment. Heating value data of oxidative option were slightly lower than those of non-oxidative one were, although they were higher than the heating value of raw biomass. According to the proximate analysis, the moisture content decreased from 7.63% in raw biomass to 3.46% and 3.15% in pine torrefied at 250°C in oxidizing and inert atmospheres, respectively. H/C and O/C ratios decrease was more drastic for oxidative torrefaction than for non-oxidative one. In addition, the van Krevelen diagram shows that oxidative torrefaction is more interesting than non-oxidative alternative, this circumstance suggests that any optimizing criterion has to take into account at least three variables, including ultimate analysis and mass and energy yields.Programa "Severo Ochoa" de Ayudas Predoctorales del Principado de Asturias (PA-13-PF-BP13058) Consejería de Economía y Empleo del Principado de Asturias al proyecto TRIBIONOR (FC-15-GRUPIN14-095) Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad al proyecto MINECO-13-CTQ2013-45155-R7th International Conference on Energy and Sustainabilit

    Get PDF
A paper-based electrochemical sensor has been developed as a green tool for analysis of diclofenac. The electrochemical behaviour of diclofenac has been studied on carbon paper-based electrodes. A miniaturized device combining paper electrodes and reusable connections allows to perform descentralized analysis. The employment of a paper-based electrode allows simple on-site preconcentration of the analite improving the sensitivity of the methodology.Authors would like to thank the EU and FCT / UEFISCDI / FORMAS for funding, in the frame of the collaborative international consortium REWATER financed under the ERA-NET Cofund WaterWorks2015 Call. Tratamiento del estreñimiento inducido por opiáceos en paciente adulto terminal

    Get PDF
In Spain, in 2012 appeared 130 thousand new cancer cases and it is expected that by 2020 there will be an incidence of 149 thousand. This disease has many side effects, although the most important is pain. To relieve pain the WHO has created the Analgesic Scale, composed of 3 steps. The last step is that of opiates that are effective for pain relief, but they have as a counterpart to produce constipation, a very uncomfortable side effect for patients who are in the state of suffering from terminal cancer since it produces from manifestations Such as pain, flatulence, obstruction, vomiting, etc., to psychological manifestations such as delirium. For this reason, a series of pharmacological measures, such as the use of laxatives and non-pharmacological measures, are initiated as hygienic-dietary measures. The aim of this study is to explore the different therapies against opiate-induced constipation in end-stage cancer patients. The work was done through a bibliographic review in several search engines from which 14 documents were extracted. The most important conclusions drawn were: that general measures for constipation are just as important as pharmacological measures, that fiber intake is contraindicated if insufficient fluid intake is not accompanied, and that the combination of more effective laxatives for constipation In terminal patients is the union of a stool softener with a stimulant of peristalsis.

Orthographic learning in Spanish children: Influence of previous semantic and phonological knowledge

    Get PDF
Orthographic learning is one of the steps needed to achieve reading fluency. There are different variables that could influence the formation of orthographic representations. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of the previous semantic and phonological knowledge on the formation of orthographic representations. We used a decrease of the length effect as the measure of orthographic learning. We made a reading aloud task that utilized new words with Spanish children from third grade under three different conditions: with prior semantic and phonological training, with prior phonological training, and without training. Results showed that knowing the meaning and the phonological form of the words facilitated the formation of orthographic representations, as the length effect was significant lower than in the other conditions, and it also improved the children’s reading performance. This study was funded by Grant PSI2015-64174-P from the Spanish Government and supported by the predoctoral grant BP14-038 from the Foundation for the Promotion of Applied Scientific Research and Technology in Asturias (FICYT)

Copia del artículo enviado al congreso (ya está aceptado para su presentación en el mismo)In this contribution, a novel subsurface imaging system to detect buried targets is presented. It is mainly composed by a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) mounted onboard an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). Thus, the system can be used to inspect areas without being in contact with the soil, which makes it useful for detecting dangerous objects, such as landmines. The system architecture and some of the first prototype measurements, which are post-processed using a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) algorithm, are presented in this contribution. This work has been supported by Government of Spain (under projects TEC2014-55290-JIN, TEC2015-73908-JIN and grant FPU15/06341), Government of Asturias (IDI/2017/000095) and Galician Government (under project GRC2015/018) and under agreement for funding AtlantTIC.IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposiu
