Evidencia científica y recomendaciones sobre el tratamiento de la pediculosis
Objective
The aim of this paper is to critically discuss a systematic literature search on clinical efficacy of topical and mechanical treatments for pediculus humanus capitis (human head lice). The mode of transmission of head lice, the role of fómite transmission, prevention of infestation,
diagnosis, treatment options, pharmacokinetics, resistance and safety concerns were also reviewed.
Methods
Spanish and English language articles indexed in MEDLINE, CINAHL, EMBASE, and the British
Nursing Index (BNI) were identified, using the search terms, children, pediculicide, bug
busting, head lice, pediculosis capitis, eradicate, eliminate, and infestation. Available Spanish and English language articles were selected and reviewed.
Discussion
Pediculosis is a common infestation particularly in school children, and causes concern in the affected family and alarm at school. Specialist community public health nurses (SCPHNs) frequently prescribe or advise parents on the use of over the counter (OTC) pediculicides.
The Medimecum formulary for health practitioners 2017 apart from listing three classes of pediculicides and two shampoos, outlines the option of using wet combing as an alternative.
Parents are rather reluctant to use chemicals in children and head lice clinics are becoming increasingly popular.
Conclusions
In view of its proven efficacy, clinical evidence, and safety, mechanical methods to remove head lice are considered an effective treatment to ensure total eradication of head lice among children of all ages.
edades

Strain-Tunable GaAs Quantum dot - A Nearly Dephasing-Free Source of Entangled Photon Pairs on Demand
We report on the observation of nearly maximally-entangled photon pairs from semiconductor quantum dots, without resorting to post-selection techniques. We use GaAs quantum dots integrated on a patterned piezoelectric actuator capable of suppressing the exciton fine structure
splitting. By using a resonant two-photon excitation we coherently drive the biexciton state and demonstrate experimentally that our device generates polarization-entangled photons with a fidelity of 0.978(5) and a concurrence of 0.97(1) taking into account the nonidealities stemming from the experimental setup. By combining fine-structure-dependent fidelity measurements and a theoretical model, we identify an exciton spin-scattering process as a possible residual decoherence mechanism. We suggest that this imperfection may be overcome using a modest Purcell enhancement so as to achieve fidelities >0.99, thus making quantum dots evenly matched with the best probabilistic entangled photon sources

Indagine sul fenomeno della standardizzazione nelle produzioni ceramiche provinciali in epoca Tardo Romana. La forma Hayes 85
The aim of this paper is to determine the degree of standardization within certain Late
Roman pottery productions. This research tried to outline a methodology to determine the
standardisation degree of these samples and to unravel the measurement systems used in the
production process. The morphometric characterization of each fragment, allowed us to create
different groups with a cluster analysis. The principal component analysis provided information
that led us to a deeper understanding of the obtained groups. The coefficient of variation
brought us to the standardisation degree of the productions. Once all these data are known, we
can approach to the possible units of measure that governed the analyzed production systems.
We selected a form well represented in the ceramic contexts identified in the excavations of
the Late Antique port-canal of Classe, the Hayes 85 small bowl. This vessel was considered
a rare form in Hayes’ monumental book. New discoveries of the last ten years show us how
much we still have to understand about the characteristics of Late Roman production, trade
and distribution. With this in mind, we used a statistical method to analyse the main changes
in the profile of this type and its variants.Gobierno del Principado de Asturias. Programa “Severo Ochoa” de ayudas predoctorales (FICYT
A family of high frequency AC-LED drivers based on ZCS-QRCs
A family of dimmable AC-LED drivers fed from dc voltages, is presented in this paper based on Zero Current Switching Quasi-Resonant Converters (ZCS-QRCs). The proposed family of drivers is based on replacing the diode in conventional converter topologies (i.e. buck, boost or buck-boost) by a string of High-Brightness Light-Emitting Diodes (HB-LED). Hence, the HB-LED string will be working as the rectifier diode and the load, switching at the same frequency of the main switch. In this case, the output current, which is experimentally validated, shows a negative current peak due to the reverse-recovery effect of the HB-LEDs. In order to reduce the reverse-recovery effect on the HB-LEDs, the main switch of the proposed topologies is replaced with a full-wave resonant switch, which makes possible to reduce the di/dt during the turn-off of the HB-LED string, therefore the reverse recovery effect is eliminated. Moreover, the dimming of the HB-LEDs is done by means of changing the switching frequency of the converter, by varying the turn-off while keeping a constant turn-on time. In order to validate the analysis, the proposed topologies have been experimentally tested on a constructed prototype with an output power of 7.5 W.This work has been supported in part by the Spanish Government under Project MINECO-13-DPI2013-47176-C2-2-R and the Principality of Asturias under the grants “Severo Ochoa” BP14-140 and BP14-85, Project FC-15-GRUPIN14-143 and Project SV-PA-17-RIS3-4, and in part by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) grant
