    Get PDF
The explosion of digital data in the last two decades followed by the development of various types of data, including text, images, audio and video known as multimedia data. Multimedia Information Retrieval is required to search various type of media. There is comprehensive information need that can not be handled by the monolithic search engine like Google, Google Image, Youtube, or FindSounds. The shortcoming of search engine today related to their format or media is the dominance of text format, while the expected information could be an image, audio or video. Hence it is necessary to present multimedia format at the same time. This paper tries to design Unified Concept-based Multimedia Information Retrieval (UCpBMIR) technique to tackle those difficulties by using unified multimedia indexing. The indexing technique transforms the various of media with their features into text representation with the concept-based algorithm and put it into the concept detector. Learning model configures the concept detector to classify the multimedia object. The result of the concept detector process is placed in unified multimedia index database and waiting for the concept-based query to be matched into the Semantic Similarities with ontology. The ontology will provide the relationship between object representation of multimedia data. Due to indexing text, image, audio, and video respectively that naturally, they are heterogeneous, but conceptually they may have the relationship among them. From the preliminary result that multimedia document retrieved can be obtained through single query any format in order to retrieve all kind of multimedia format. Unified multimedia indexing technique with ontology will unify each format of multimedi

    Get PDF
The autonomous mobile robot can move around and avoid obstacles in front by itself. The data generated by the sensors is processed using an algorithm and specific methods to determine the movement of the robot. Ultrasonic sensor installed on the Mobile robot with a straight forward position. Ultrasonic sensor can detect the obstacle 30 degrees in front, which creates the blank area of the sensor between two ultrasonic sensors. Ultrasonic sensors installed at many points to reduce that blank area. This paper offers the concept of two ultrasonic sensor redirection by mounting it tilted so when it is drawn will form a right triangle that  the concept  of trigonometry  applied. The results of the approximate distance between the obstacle sensor becomes the hypotenuse, while the distance between the two sensors already obtained so that the distance between the mobile robot with the real obstacle can be calculated. The mechanism of mobile robot  movement mimics  the movement of agricultural tractors. The test results showed that the optimum angle between the two ultrasonic sensors is 35 to 55 degree. Redirection ultrasonic sensors will reduce approximately 42% of the number of sensors that are installed straight ahead

Design of A Microchip Optical Switching Driven by Low Direct-current Voltage

    Get PDF
A microchip optical switching based on a directional fiber coupler has been successfully fabricated by using silicon-on-insulator with two steps of photolithography and dry etching methods. Each waveguide has 1.75 µm width, 2 µm high and the distance between the waveguides at the coupling region was 2 µm. Metal aluminum layer with 4 µm width was attached at the coupling region due to switch the optical signal from a waveguide to another. The coupled mode theory was determined to model the coupling power at the coupling region. Experimental results have shown a good agreement of   switching   power   at   the   coupling   as   function   of increment of direct current voltage. It has been obtained that to switch the signal described by the switching region that occurs for the applied DC voltage in range of 18 volt to  32  volt.  Certainly,  an  adjustable  optical  switching driven by low direct current voltage promises wide range of   its   application   in   optical   network   and   sensor application

In  the  last  few  years,  with  the  emergence  of ambient assisted living, the study of human behavioral pattern took  a  wide  interest  from  research  communities  around  the world. In many literatures, pattern recognition was widely adopted approach to implements in human behavior study from computing perspective. Pattern recognition brings a promising results in terms of accuracy for modeling human behavior. But the problem with this approach is the complexity of knowledge representation  which  formulated  in  mathematical  model.  In turns, a correction by the experts is hardly conducted. In another hand, gathering a graphical insight is  not a trivial task. This paper  investigate the use of process mining technology to gives an alternative to such problems. Process mining is data-driven approach to infer a graphical representation of any kind of process. In terms of human behavior, process can be defined as sequences of activities performed by human on daily basis. From the conducted experiments process mining was shown a potential use to infer a human daily activity pattern in a graphical representation

A reconfigurable antenna system is proposed to improve data throughput limitations in multiple input multiple output wireless communication systems in this investigation. The4×4 MIMO antenna is designed to operate in the 2.4 and 2.6 GHz for  Wireless  Local  Area  Network  (WLAN)  and  Long  TermEvolution (LTE) applications. The system’s radiation pattern re-configurability is  realized by  using the  microcontroller-drivenPIN diode switching concept. Simulations and measurements exhibited good agreements for the single, 2×2 MIMO and 4×4MIMO configurations. The antenna is operational between 2.387to 2.628 GHz, while the simulated and measured reflection coefficients are at least -24.3 dB. All configurations produced anarrow beam forward radiation, while the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) and diversity gain for the two MIMO configurations are below 0.5 and at least 9 dBi, respectively

Selection of methods will greatly impact in learning process. One of the methods commonly applied are Cooperative learning. Cooperative learning is one of many learning techniques to improve the performance of students in the academic literature. Moreover, the heterogeneity in study group’s academics can improve performance, but only partially implementing cooperative learning in a group of heterogeneous formations. The problem faced in this type is the process of forming group of students into a heterogeneous group and inter-group quality is relatively equal or balanced. In this study, the authors aimed to provide intelligent solutions in the distribution group based on the value (The value of achievement on related subjects) and personality traits of each student in the determination of the performance of students are using the algorithm clustering Partitioning Around Medoids (PAM) in consideration of the value of measurement Euclidean Distance (ED) and the equitable distribution to form heterogeneous groups based on their level of heterogeneity in Measured with Goodness of Heterogeneity in Group (GH) and the rate of coefficient variation (CV) in same group or between groups with groups and equitable distributions on college campuses

This system is able to deliver IT services that can meet the challenges and needs of business services. An understanding of the service computing systems engineering life cycle is necessary to model and build the systems. This paper conducts the study of the service computing systems concepts and proposes the life cycle of service computing system engineering. First, some publications relevant to the service computing systems are reviewed systematically in order to develop fundamental concepts and elements of the systems. Second, a metamodel of service computing systems is built based on those concepts. Third, the life cycle model of service computing systems engineering is proposed based on the metamodel. Finally, the verification of the life cycle is conducted by comparing the proposed life cycle to the life cycle of software engineering, service engineering, and service system engineering. The contribution of this paper is to provide a coincise understanding of the components that are needed to build such systems and show the interaction and collaboration between the components in the service computing systems

Alerting System for Sport Activity Based on ECG Signals using Proportional Integral Derivative

    Get PDF
Exercise makes the body fit, but most people do not know the intensity of the exercise they are doing right or otherwise can be dangerous, because not everyone knows the maximum heart rate (MHR), Heart Rate Resting (HRRest), heart rate reserve (HRR) and Target Heart Rate (THR) for each individual, it is proposed an ECG signal-based warning system to find out how much a person's maximum limit in exercise based on age, gender, body mass index, MHR, RHR, THRmin and THRmax. The data is taken by using ECG sensors from the subjects who are doing sport activities using a treadmill by noting the resulted feature when the subject reaches the maximum limit of the heart rate (THRmax) target. Range is calculated from 50% of the THR value, which increases periodically during treadmill activities up to 85% of THR. When already exceed THRmax, then the system will automatically warn and decrease the level of exercise to medium to low levels in the cooling down level. For the % hardware errors in a row from 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, and 10 minutes obtained % error with 0.77±0.14. The RMSE of the hardware and software test showed high accuracy because of the small value of error. The system succeeds to alert any intensity level of sport based on the Proportional integral derivative according to the bpm value generated by the subject during the treadmill exercise.
