    Representation of Islamic Communication in Multicultural Spaces: A Semiotic Analysis of the Film 99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa

    This study aims to analyze the representation of Islamic communication within multicultural spaces through the film 99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa. The focus is directed toward visual symbols such as mosques and the hijab, verbal signs in the form of dialogues about Qur’anic recitation and greetings of peace, as well as the narrative of the main character’s religious experiences that portray interactions between Muslims and European society. The method employed is qualitative with Roland Barthes’ semiotic approach, which interprets signs through three layers: denotation, connotation, and myth. Data were obtained through documentation by repeatedly viewing the film and supported by academic literature related to Islamic communication, the mediatization of religion, and semiotics. The findings reveal that the film represents Islamic communication in a persuasive, inclusive, and adaptive manner, functioning as a medium of intercultural and interreligious interaction. At the denotative level, Islamic symbols appear as religious identity, while at the connotative level, they affirm values of tolerance, harmony, and solidarity. At the mythic level, the film constructs an ideological narrative that Islam is a universal religion capable of engaging in dialogue with diversity.     Pengelolaan Aktivitas Jaulah Jamaah Tabligh di Kecamatan Bilah Hilir Kabupaten Labuhan Batu

    This study investigates and analyzes the management of Tabling Jamaah Jaulah activities in Bilah Hilir sub-district, Labuhan Batu Regency, North Sumatra. This study employs a qualitative approach and case study method. Data was gathered through interviews, observations, and documentation, with informants including members of the Tabligh, local communities, and sub-district officials. The data was analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The findings show that Tabligh activities are managed collectively and participative, involving planning, implementation, and evaluation. The management is consistent with the concept of dawah and motivation taught in Islam. The Jamaah Tabligh also preaches using humanist, inclusive, and dialogical strategies and methods, focusing on morals and manners, respecting and appreciating the local community, and inviting rather than forcing. The Jamaah Tabligh also adheres to its six principles, which are Kalimah Thoyyibah, Salat Khusyu wal Khudu, Ilmu and Zikir, Ikraamul Muslimin, Ikhlas and Niyyat, and Dakwah Tabligh. The Jamaah Tabligh has both positive and negative effects and internal and external challenges when preaching. This study suggests methods to improve resources, skills, coordination, discipline, understanding, and proper application of Islamic teachings, as well as overcome existing attitudes, differences, interventions, influences, and slander.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali dan menganalisis pengelolaan aktivitas jaulah jamaah tabligh di kecamatan bilah hilir, kabupaten labuhan batu, Sumatera Utara. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi, dengan informan yang terdiri dari anggota jamaah tabligh, masyarakat setempat, dan pihak kecamatan. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengelolaan aktivitas jaulah jamaah tabligh dilakukan secara kolektif dan partisipatif, dengan melibatkan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Pengelolaan ini sesuai dengan konsep dakwah dan motivasi yang diajarkan oleh Islam. Jamaah tabligh juga memiliki strategi dan metode yang humanis, inklusif, dan dialogis dalam berdakwah, dengan mengutamakan akhlak dan adab, menghormati dan menghargai masyarakat setempat, dan mengajak dan tidak memaksa. Jamaah tabligh juga mengikuti enam prinsip jamaah tabligh, yaitu Yakin terhadap Kalimah Thoyyibah, Salat Khusyu Wal Khudu, Ilmu Ma’adzdikir, Ikraamul Muslim, Ikhlas dan Niyyat, dan Dakawah dan Tabligh. Jamaah tabligh juga menimbulkan dampak positif dan negatif, serta menghadapi tantangan internal dan eksternal dalam berdakwah. Penelitian ini memberikan saran untuk meningkatkan sumber daya, keterampilan, koordinasi, kedisiplinan, pemahaman, dan penerapan ajaran Islam yang benar, serta mengatasi sikap, perbedaan, intervensi, pengaruh, dan fitnah yang ada.   

    Mass Media Technology in Wildlife Trade in Indonesia

    This study examines the role of technology, particularly social media, in facilitating illegal wildlife trade in Indonesia, as well as efforts to combat it. Online wildlife trade has grown along with technological advances, which provide criminals with wider access and anonymity that facilitate illegal transactions. Social media platforms and e-commerce have become the main channels for this trade, with perpetrators taking advantage of anonymity features and effective marketing through paid advertising and visual content. To address this problem, several mitigation efforts that can be made include increasing digital literacy for the community, collaborating with social media and e-commerce platforms to develop reporting mechanisms, developing artificial intelligence-based detection technology, and strengthening law enforcement.     PMB PTKIN : Branding Strategy Analysis on Social Media from 2021 to 2024

    The competition among universities to attract prospective students requires each institution to develop a competitive strategy, i.e., branding strategies, such as those implemented by State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN). Each year, the branding strategy for new student admissions at PTKIN differs. This study implements a descriptive qualitative approach to analyze the branding strategies employed by the national committee for PMB PTKIN from 2021 to 2024. The focus of this study encompasses branding elements within the scope of brand design, the effectiveness of communication strategies in terms of supporting facilities and resources, and perceptions involving key stakeholders related to branding. The researchers analyzed the branding strategies utilized during 2021-2024 through observation, document analysis, and unstructured interviews as data complement. The findings indicate that effective branding elements include using relevant narratives, particularly those rooted in religious values, using digital media to target prospective students, and collaborating with Islamic higher education institutions under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. However, the study also identified several challenges, such as the suboptimal use of digital platforms and the gap between the projected brand image and public perception. Based on these findings, this study recommends strengthening the branding strategy by developing a consistent visual identity, increasing digital-based promotional activities, and aligning branding messages with the needs and preferences of the target audience.     This research explores the application and relevance of social ethics in the perspective of hadith in the new media era, aiming to understand how ethical principles can be applied in increasingly complex digital communication. Using qualitative methods and literature studies, the study identifies important aspects of healthy communication, such as polite language selection, information verification, and respect for individual privacy. In the context of new media, good speech serves as an indicator of faith, where individuals who maintain speech tend to show a higher level of faith. In addition, responsibility for content shared on social media is essential for creating a safe and positive communication environment. The study also highlights the importance of respecting differences of opinion and creating inclusive discussion spaces to enrich social interactions. By applying ethical values in every interaction, social media users are expected to contribute to the development of a better and harmonious digital society, providing valuable insights for individuals in improving communication ethics in the new media era

    Online Gambling Problems in Indonesia: A Structural Dawah Approach

    ABSTRACT Based on the latest data reported by the media, online gambling transactions have entered a very disturbing stage. How could it not be, the transaction figures reach hundreds of trillions and involve students, housewives, people and officials. As a result, hereditary problems emerge that endanger society, such as divorce, suicide and murder. Various efforts have been made to tackle the rise of gambling, especially online gambling. Such as oral bill preaching, education and eradicating gambling sites. However, online gambling actually shows that the trend is increasing and increasing. On that basis, the main topic of this article discusses the structural da\u27wah perspective in comprehensively eradicating online gambling. The aim of this research is to analyze the phenomenon of online gambling and its solutions within the structural da\u27wah paradigm. This research uses qualitative methods using library data such as books, journals and online news sites that have been verified and related to the research object. The results of this research reveal that structural da\u27wah can be an essential solution to eradicating online gambling. Because the structural position of the government has the power and strength to order and prohibit in accordance with the principles of da\u27wah. As a result, issues like divorce, suicide, and murder emerge, endangering society. Various efforts have been made to combat the rise of gambling, particularly online gambling, including dawah bil lisan (oral preaching), education, and the eradication of gambling websites. However, online gambling demonstrates that the trend is still growing. Thus, the primary focus of this article is to discuss the structural Dawah perspective on comprehensively eliminating online gambling. This study aims to examine the phenomenon of online gambling and potential solutions within the structural dawah paradigm. This study used qualitative methods to analyze library data, such as verified and relevant books, journals, and online news sources.     Community Empowerment in Preventing Drug Abuse

    This research-based service research departs from the problem of drug abuse in Mulyorejo village, taking into account the strategic geographical location for drug trafficking, the surrounding villages\u27 high drug case rates, and the public\u27s lack of understanding of the dangers of drugs. This drug problem has existed for a long time, but neither the government nor the community has made any effort to address it. The community assistance approach used was Asset-based Community Driven Development (ABCD), a method of community empowerment that draws on the community\u27s strengths, potential, and assets to overcome problems and promote community development. The ABCD approach comprises five stages: inculturation, discovery, design, definition, and reflection. The Women and Children Forum\u27s empowerment process has resulted in several outcomes, including the realization by the assisted community that they have numerous assets/potentials that can be used to develop and solve problems, particularly drug abuse. The assisted community understood the dangers of drugs and was aware of the importance of prevention. The assisted community could identify needs and develop activity plans to address drug abuse issues. The assisted community could also engage in activities such as drug danger socialization, drug alert family strengthening, and drug abuse prevention advocacy with village governments and religious institutions.Penelitian pengabdian berbasis riset ini berangkat dari permasalahan penyalahgunaan narkoba di desa Mulyorejo yang sangat berpotensi terpapar mengingat letak geografis yang strategis bagi pengedaran narkoba, desa sekitar yang telah banyak kasus narkoba, minimnya pemahaman masyarakat tentang bahaya narkoba. Permasalahan narkoba ini telah lama terjadi namun belum ada upaya yang dilakukan pemerintah maupun masyarakat untuk mengatasinya. Pendekatan pendampingan masyarakat/komunitas yang digunakan adalah Asset Based Community driven Developmen (ABCD) yaitu sebuah pendekatan pemberdayaan masyarakat yang berangkat dari kekuatan, potensi dan asset yang dimiliki  untuk mengatasi masalah dan pengembangan masyarakat. Pendekatan ABCD memiliki 5 tahapan yaitu : Inculturation, discovery, design, define dan reflexion. Melalui proses pemberdayaan Forum Perempuan dan Anak menghasilkan beberapa hal yakni : komunitas dampingan menyadari bahwa mereka memiliki banyak asset/potensi yang dapat digunakan untuk dikembangkan dan dapat menyelesaikan masalah khususnya penyalahgunaan narkoba. Komunitas dampingan memiliki pemahaman yang baik tentang bahaya narkoba dan memiliki kesadaran bahwa pencegahan Komunitas dampingan dapat mengidentifikasi kebutuhan dan merumuskan perencanaan kegiatan untuk menyelesaikan masalah penyalahgunaan narkoba. Komunitas dampingan juga dapat melaksanakan kegiatan berupa sosialisasi bahaya narkoba, penguatan keluarga siaga narkoba dan advokasi kepada pemerintahan desa dan lembaga keagamaan terkait pencegahan peyalahgunaan narkoba

    The Ethics of Presenting Content on Social Media in the Perspective of Hadith Strong Reprimand for Lying: An Overclaim Case Study

    The phenomenon of overclaims in the skincare industry on social media is the focus of this research because it has an impact on consumer trust and the possibility of disinformation. The selection of this topic is based on an increasing number of exaggerated claims that raise concerns about the health of users that are not supported by scientific evidence. The hypothesis is that honesty contained in Islam can be used to overcome the practice of overclaiming. This research was conducted qualitatively by conducting interviews with customers and industry players and analyzing the content of various social media posts. A study found that many skincare brands often make excessive promises to attract attention, which ultimately leads to dissatisfied customers and a loss of trust. The study also found that people need to be educated about the importance of accurate and honest information when choosing skincare products. The results show that applying the values of honesty is not only important in da\u27wah but also in contemporary business practices. Therefore, the findings of this study contribute significantly to the advancement of da\u27wah communication and ethical practices in the cosmetics industry, as well as encourage industry players to be more responsible in providing information to consumers

    Framing Media Dan Dinamika Opini Publik TerkaitPengungsi Rohingya Di Indonesia: Perspektif UNHCR Dan Otoritas Aceh Dalam Sorotan Kritis

    This research analyzes media framing regarding the rejection and acceptance of Rohingya as refugees in Indonesia. The research focuses on the framing of news coverage issued by UNHCR and the Aceh District Government, as well as other media that explicitly voice rejection of the presence of the Rohingya. Content analysis was used as the main approach to investigate how this issue was presented and further explored in the media so that differences in media were observed in depicting this topic. The research results show that UNHCR views the Rohingya as an entity that has the right to be welcomed in Aceh, based on Human Rights principles and the belief that their presence will not exploit conditions in Aceh. On the other hand, the news framing that rejects the presence of the Rohingya comes from justification for Indonesia\u27s non-participation in signing the refugee convention, which is interpreted as the basis that Indonesia is not obliged to accept the Rohingya. The Aceh Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget allocation for handling the flood disaster strengthens the reasons for rejection, accompanied by firm demands from the Aceh District Government for the Indonesian government to respond to this policy. The urgency of this research lies in the need for an in-depth understanding of the dynamics of media framing which can shape public opinion and influence government policy regarding humanitarian issues in local, regional, and even international contexts.Penelitian ini menganalisis framing media terkait penolakan dan penerimaan Rohingya sebagai pengungsi di Indonesia. Penelitian berfokus pada framing liputan berita yang dikeluarkan UNHCR dan Pemerintah Kabupaten Aceh (Pemkab Aceh), serta media lain yang secara eksplisit menyuarakan penolakan terhadap kehadiran Rohingya. Analisis konten digunakan sebagai pendekatan utama untuk menyelidiki bagaimana isu ini disajikan dan diekplorasi lebih jauh dalam media sehingga perbedaan media teramati dalam menggambarkan topik ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa UNHCR memandang Rohingya sebagai entitas yang berhak diterima di Aceh, berdasarkan prinsip-prinsip Hak Asasi Manusia dan keyakinan bahwa kehadiran mereka tidak akan mengeksploitasi kondisi di Aceh. Di sisi lain, framing berita yang menolak kehadiran Rohingya berasal dari alasan justifikasi ketidakpartisipan Indonesia dalam penandatanganan konvensi pengungsi, yang diartikan sebagai dasar bahwa Indonesia tidak berkewajiban menerima Rohingya. Alokasi Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Daerah (APBD) Aceh untuk penanganan bencana banjir memperkuat alasan penolakan, didampingi dengan tuntutan tegas dari Pemerintah Kabupaten Aceh kepada pemerintah Indonesia untuk merespons kebijakan ini.     Analysis the Content of Dawah\u27s Message in the Film "Buya Hamka" by Fajar Bustomi

    Pesatnya perkembangan teknologi dan komunikasi, tentu akan memengaruhi cara seorang da’i dalam menyampaikan pesan dakwah kepada mad’u. Da’i dapat menyampaikan dakwah kepada melalui berbagai media yang telah tersedia, penggunaan media ini merupakan strategi efektif untuk menarik perhatian mad’u, serta jangkauan dakwah menjadi lebih luas. Ketika da’i menyampaikan dakwah dengan menggunakan media maka penyampaian pesan dakwah dapat dihadirkan secara menarik dan beragam, sehingga menjauhkan risiko kebosanan. Metode yang telah terbukti efektif dalam menyampaikan pesan dakwah ialah melalui media film. Melalui adegan, suara, dan gambar, pesan dakwah dapat disampaikan dengan kuat dan jelas, sehingga mudah dipahami oleh mad’u. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pesan dakwah yang terkandung dalam film “Buya Hamka”. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis isi secara kualitatif, data yang diperlukan diambil dari setiap adegan atau cuplikan dalam film tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film “Buya Hamka” mengandung pesan dakwah yang mencakup aspek akidah, syariah, dan akhlak.The rapid development of technology and communication will affect how a da\u27i conveys the message of da\u27wah to mad\u27u. Da\u27i can deliver da\u27wah through various available media; using this media is an effective strategy to attract the attention of mad\u27u, and the reach of da\u27wah becomes wider. When da\u27i deliver da\u27wah by using the media, the delivery of da\u27wah messages can be presented interestingly and diversely, thus keeping away the risk of boredom. The method that has proven effective in delivering da\u27wah messages is through film media. Through scenes, sounds, and images, da\u27wah messages can be conveyed strongly and clearly, making it easy for mad\u27u to understand. This study aims to identify the da\u27wah message in the film “Buya Hamka ."This research uses a qualitative content analysis method. The required data is taken from each scene or trailer in the film. The results showed that the film “Buya Hamka" contains da\u27wah messages, including aqidah, sharia, and morals
